    After I watched Danny's video with Pete, I went to the range a few times and focused solely on right side/arm movement and its changed my swing dramatically. For anyone struggling with poor contact/power, please give this method a go. Don't forget, weight forward. Lead arm straight.

    The Pete Cowen and Danny lesson video was like a graduate level professor teaching an advanced masters level prof. I watched it, got something out of it, but not enough.
    Danny's video reiterated Pete's instructional gems,and restated them in a way the rank and file golfer could understand and learn more from.
    Your video has taken Cack handed part and given it even more relevance and applicability for us "average golfers".
    I've been trying this, and there is no doubt that the Cack (sp?) handed grip and mini swings are giving me a feel I've not had before, and I like it!

    Pure gold at 3:40! I had the same takeaway. I didn’t appreciate exactly what it is supposed to feel like. This drill really drives this point home.

    Add me to the list of players who went to the range and worked on this after watching Peter and Danny work on this concept.. After a while I also delayed my shoulders and got a beautiful lag in the club head. I can now either pull the club with my left arm or alternate with my strong right arm. I'm beginning to like to deliver the strong right arm more onto the actual hit of the golf ball. I don't think it matters much which dominates, sometimes I allow both to equally hit the ball.
    The point is it works and it's very strong. I'm back to hitting my 9 iron over 125 yds. with crappy range balls and spot on target. At my age 72 this is back to being fun. I can now start adding power and maybe get my PW to 125, who knows.
    I added you to my subscription list and will come back to see how you progress. I think you are enjoying this as much as I am.

    I have just started playing golf after a 30 year gap and have struggled for most of the year trying to find out where my backswing should be. This simple exercise sorts every thing for me, it has improved the consistency of strike and has increased the distance I am achieving.

    I've watched Danny Maude for years, and really enjoyed his "feel oriented swing". This is a huge change for him in that it's become very much a "position oriented swing". My opinion is that as soon as you focus on a position, you lose any fluidity of motion. I've tried getting into specific positions and all they do is make me think of the position rather than the target...miss out on any point of the position and it messes up your mind and swing.

    • @arthurford829
      @arthurford829 Год назад

      Great point! You don’t want to play golf swing while you’re playing golf. But this drill is meant to be done in a practice environment and/or at home away from a golf ball. All so that it’s more natural while you’re playing.

    This is the number one key in setting up impact -> what the trailing arm is doing. This is one of the best drills to teach that trailing arm position. Awesome video on this very important aspect of the golf swing. It also gives you that feeling of sinking your trailing hip and buttock to the imaginary wall behind you.

    This helps me for a different reason : I have a lot of pain from Ulnar Impaction Syndrome ( UIS )in my left wrist with no cartilage left in the carpals and this shows me the support I need from the right arm in the backswing , so I focus on a right forearm takeaway with the left feeling like it’s just along for the ride ! Thanks , John ps. Also hitting balls with the split grip , hockey stick drill is a good one , if you can hit it solid with the driver every time , you’ve got it !

    I watched the Original teaching video and went to the range after. I’ve never hit balls consistently straighter ever. It’s still a work in progress and trying to use the same principle for my driver. But I must say the cack handed swing has made a Hughes difference already

    I quite liked this video. It focuses on what Pete has preached of the "spiral staircase", but more importantly, Pete always talks about putting the club in the right position for delivery. This move must be groove or memorized by your muscles as it put the club in the right position for gravity to assist you in the down swing causing an effortless swing, very efficient! I also liked your emphasis of the coil, "left knee over the left foot and bottom of spine pointing at left heel" Can't wait for your next discussion on this Pete Cowen lesson as it was the most "aha" moment I have had for gold instruction. That is maintaining the right wrist bend through the strike!. It takes the flicking, hand domination out of the swing and brings in the importance of turning to the left to maintain pressure on the ball. Thanks for taking this one step at a time though, excellent job. I liked it so much, I just subscribed to your channel!

  • @johnk.atchley5079
    @johnk.atchley5079 Год назад

    Interesting. The position of the right elbow and forearm is critical. Just one thing, if you begin to apply this there is a possibility that you will come through with the face a bit open and while you may get good contact, you will hit high and right. It takes some checking of the position of the face and possibly a slight correction to close the face just a bit at address or making sure that on the downswing once the shaft reaches horizontal if you stop it there and look, the face should be slightly closed, not straight up or open.

    Andy, I had watched Danny's video and found it helpful for the most part, but as he layered on the subsequent parts from his Pete Cowan lesson, I found myself trying too hard to digest the whole thing. I think that you're breaking it down and leaving it at Part 1, might help avoid having my mind embracing too many swing thoughts at one time. Thanks.

    What bothers me about this is it looks like you can't complete a _full_ backswing using this method. I like getting my shaft, when completing a full backswing, to _parallel._ I find its the best way to generate club head/ball speed, good compression and ultimately, distance. Looks like you're doing almost a 3/4 swing. Who wants that?

  • @dewaynedaniels8576
