This is a very sturdy and well built mower. I thought I wouldn't like the foot operated speed control but after one use ruclips.net/user/postUgkxTZSPVwJFBv2hORqhQamtxi-tAe5K2EtC , I can't believe I ever had one without it. It drives like a car with an automatic transmission. Easy to adjust mowing speed according to grass depth/thickness. I have yet to get used to the long throw of the blade engagement lever but kind of get why it is that way. It allows you to hold mowing for short moments if you need. The engine seems very substantial and the frame has very little flex, both adding up to an impressive package. All my previous tractors were 18 to21 hp with 42in decks. This one is 23/46. I mow about 1.5 acres about every 5 days here in Alaska and that mowing time has been reduced by about 20%, partly due to the very tight turning radius. No loop arounds lol. Hour meter, cruise control, reverse mowing capability, deck cleanout and easy assembly all add up to a very well thought out tractor.
I bought mine in August 2023 and it was priced at $2239. I have used it five times since I purchased it, and I think it’s just a great piece of equipment. I bought the cub cadet instead of John Deere or Husqvarna or craftsman because those brands have a two-year bumper to bumper warranty in the cub cadet has a three-year bumper to bumper warranty.
thanks John, weird I did not get a notice that you or scott had replied. I just happen to check in and saw it. I always get noticed when a reply is there. hope your staying safe, ya the flashlight...lol
Thanks Vegas, just got one at Home Depot 05/05/20. Thanks for explainig the reverse lock out/in button w/red light. Home Depot didn't have the owner's manual for this one,but can get it on line. A great machine. $1499.99 minus 10% veterans discount. Love this little Hot Rod.
Lucked out and got mine on sale for 1199 and then had vet discount to that. 2 weeks later you couldn’t get them and they were up to 1499 I think. As stated in earlier post. Going on 3 years now and love it. Only problem is battery needs a trickler on it or u will replace it often. (Schumer 2A at HD for 25$). Now gotta figure out why it won’t start
Just got a basically new one for 1k. Been using a push mower for my yard and it would just take forever. I got just under an acre. This little thing actually makes me excited to mow since I have enough energy after to weedeat, blow off the drive in under an hour. My blood pressure also loves the mower lol absolutely love it.
@yogageorge8835 neighbor was moving and they were gaining 6 times the yard and had to get a heavier duty mower. So they sold it to me before they moved
I've owned this just a few months and already two issues. One you helped me with. My chute when tightened securely it slips under the safety switch, and it won't start. Never would have found it without the video. Somehow there's now tape over the switch, huh. Second, our one acre kicks up ALOT of dust. After about 3 uses the mower would not go in reverse, and could not get it to roll in neutral, and finally wouldn't even go forward. Took it back to the store and they found that if the brake shoes get hardly any dust in them they lock up. When they cleaned it out with an air compressor everything worked. Yet another poor design. Bought mine from Farmer's Home & Supply (thumbs up). Buy it from Home Depot and you're on your own with any problems.
good information on the brake thing. I had no clue, so we both taught each other something.. poor design yes. but wait until oil change. lol. you have a mess coming
I bought mine 2yrs ago and recently I had the same problem. It locked on me, wouldn’t go forward or back. I had to carry the back tires to put it inside my garage. Took a look at it 2 days after and it magically unlocked itself.
@@vegasdavetv why I am going with the galvanized pipe extension and 1/4 turn valve. I bought galv nipple and valve last year but not long enough. I couldn’t get the cub cadet think to fit anywhere so used my Seabee “can do” engineering and made an aluminum pan/funnel which worked great. Will post what materials I used for the nipple and all. What a mess. Still haven’t lubed it yet. Gotta remind myself of that
I ❤ my CC•30•H, mine came w/ the grass 'chute' cover. I added the 'mulcher' cover and the twin bagger options which work AMAZINGLY well w/ twin mesh bags (holds twice as much between dumps). I also added the garden dump•trailer option which can haul 800lbs of patio stones at a time or converts into a dump bed w/ sides (for dirt, mulch, etc) just step on the pedal to tilt/dump the whole load. Both options can be installed used at the same time, if you want/need to. Great mower!!.
Love mine, going on 3 years now. Found video through search for “Cub Cadet won’t start”. New battery and charged. No light or nada. I do have the chute and bagger (Troy Built aka same) and hoping it is the switch. The hydrostatic is awesome and love the backup feature. (Took me some time to get used it) Drawback is LOCATION of drain plug. It’s a pain and you need to be creative without making a mess. I am going to get a 6” galvanized nipple and shut off valve to extend it out. Will need some more oil, but having an adapter at end to just put hose on and turn valve and tilt will be worth it. I have 1/3 acre and in summer here in SC, I don’t miss the push mower. 😉
Excellent review. You can get off the mower and it will still run if you have it in park and the blade off. I was wondering what mods people have made to drain the oil, I see a oil drain item made by Cub Cadet wonder if it will fit. Hopefully, you will get electric in your shed LOL
I noticed that the transmission fan is not spinning on my Cub Cadet CC30 riding mower. Should it be spinning all the time or at certain times. If it should be spinning all the time when mower is running what could be the reason it stop?
Note: When starting lawn mower blade has to be disengaged. If you have any serious hills it is not very good. My yard is relatively flat but I have a drainage ditch around my house. It doesn't climb very well and it is unstable on slight inclines and going around trees. I know it's limitations now. Since I have a fence around my back yard it was important that it would make it through my gate and it does. I lowered my yard steps to be below ground level. Horsepower is a little light for a 235 lb person. Before my fence I had a large riding mower 12.5 horsepower 42 inch deck and I could climb hills with ease. If my wife dies before me I am tearing that fence down. If you have any washouts from erosion over the years I would recommend lawn leveling (50% play sand / 50% dirt). It doesn't like roots and front steering is a little cheesy. You have to slow down to do tight turns. I am just waiting for a problem with that part of the mower. Deck has a rattling sound and I have just had it for a couple of months. Not happy with that. Doesn't navigate tree roots very well. I have resorted to using my push mower for that. I only have one tree with above ground roots but it is 80' tall. It cuts fast. If you have any muddy spots in your yard tires will tear them up. Gas level is on the opposite side of the mower than the gas fillup point. It would be nice if you could see the gas fill level while you are fueling the lawn mower but I just resort to my tried and true method of watching gas come up inside the fill nozzle. I never worry about the gas fill level after the initial fill before cutting the yard. No shifting gears like in the days of my old Murray 12.5 horsepower mower. That is great. Just random thoughts here. Hope this helps. No cub cadet dealers in Nashville TN. Home Depot sells them. Not sure if I will ever get it serviced here.
Everything you say here is true. I like this little mower but have had to come up with creative ways to handle inclines that my old Toro Wheelhorse could handle. The oil change is ridiculous. Most people recommend getting a siphon kit. Saw another video where the guy replaced the oil filter and made a mess.
