  • Mowing season is almost here! Time to do some pre-season maintenance on my little Cub Cadet CC30H.
It was due for and oil/filter change, blade sharpening, adding grease, and general once-over before getting to work.

I've got the same set under the Troybilt label. After the 1st year, I purchased a Drainzit hose for oil changes. Works great with no mess. I also spray white lithium grease on the steering rack. That makes it feel like power steering and because of the steering failures this machine is prone to.

Thank you for posting this. You saved me hours of head scratching and wrenching trying to figure out how to remove the deck to replace a bent blade. Never occurred to me that I could just pick the front end up by hand and prop it on a step stool.

ya know,,,,, i think mtd/ccadet/craftsman/troy should not only include the drain hose mechanism/piece they have on the ccadet 50" zero turn i was considering at one time on all of their 30" mower models, not only that, maybe make that rear engine cover a 2 piece or flip up style for ease of service with engine area and maybe include a roller bearing style steering pinion gear set or at least metal gearing piece instead of that plastic bushing. i say all of this because i am surprised/shocked at how much they charge for it, over 2k? really? that should only be around 1k, since they price it over 2k they should include all what i had mentioned,,,,,,,, that's the least they could do,,,, at least. manufacturers are cutting corners.

CC30h owners - there is an upgraded rack & pinion gear BRACKET replacement KIT for this mower. Significant improvement over the original mid 2021 and earlier models.

I just replace with a new blade every couple of years. Had mine since 2015. It's tricky to prevent some the oil from hitting the cutting deck. I learned to put some old towels underneath to absorb any spills. I just did the rack and pinion steering a couple days ago b/c it was slipping. The machine is good if you don't have a ton of hills .

Just serviced mine today (9/15/22) and had the same oil mess that you experienced. even tho' I had cardboard underneath the oil stil got everywhere including the tires. I used up most of a roll of paper towels and I highly reccommend having a roll nearby, you are going to need it for the mower, the garage floor and your hands and tools. I am on my way shortly to purchase some garage floor oil cleaner.

Going to buy an Oil Extractor drain it from the top to avoid the mess. What is the size bolt on the blade, socket and doesn't it have a specific torque setting when reattaching ? Good video Thanks for doing this.

Man that's some Porsche 911. Cuts grass to? Dang!

  • @grievousmink3889

Just come out and start it and let it run about every couple weeks. No need for a battery charger. Good video. 👍

Fantastic video, will definently check this out again when I need to service the mower. I've been trying to find something on taking the engine covers off. I'm not super adventurous when taking things apart because I end up with extra parts. I have a mouse nest all over in the engine, but I cant find anything good on getting under the lids on this mower.

Awesome demo by the video, thank you. But, I need to change my battery. Can you please show a video on how to replace the battery on a CC30 H Hydro Drive Cub Cadet? Thanks again.

The manual describes how to adjust front-rear deck tilt, but not how to level the deck left-right. My mower is now about an inch lower on the left than the right. Any ideas on how to do this?

Any ideas? I just unboxed mine and set it up per the user manual. I did a test strip on the max blade height. And it cut right into the ground. I then adjusted the deck hangar, which was hell. And still no luck. Checked tire pressure etc. now when I adjust the height sitting in the garage from height one to two. There is no height adjustment occurring.
