I always end up on these videos by accident and end up educated on something I never knew
Me too
I choose one topic and see where my choices take me. Love to learn
Same!
You and me both 🤷🏼♀️
Alright, Spain and Italy dominate this fascinating list
I spent two months in Tuscany about 20 years ago and there a ton of these villages that are built into the mountains and cliffs. Very beautiful.
This is amazing! Thank you very much 🙏🏽
Great video, it was fun to find out about some of these places before they fall all the way down. number one was the scariest to me. Thank you
I need to travel more this summer
Hilo, Hawaii is actually threatened not only by lava from Mauna Loa, but from the ocean as well - it was catastrophically damaged by tsunamis in 1946 and 1960, causing scores of deaths. Much of what was formerly downtown Hilo was intentionally left open after these two disasters, so now there's parkland on which few or no buildings will be damaged or destroyed by the next big tsunami. In addition, while lava flows usually do move quite slowly, the ones from Mauna Loa can be much faster than those from Kilauea, which are the far more common ones. That's because Mauna Loa erupts considerably more lava in larger quantities.
Nicely done video! A pleasure to watch.
These were all amazing. I would love to visit all of these places. Great narrative on each of these. Very enjoyable and informative.
I used to live near Kilauea in Hawaii, 20 years ago. The other day I woke up and my first thought was “I’m going to drive to Hilo today” that would be one hell of a drive from the Utah desert.
My favorite areas when I was stationed in Germany were the Italian Alps and those mountain villages. I could have stayed there for weeks. At the time, during the Vietnam days, all the villages I saw were active and populated.
Cinque Terra, Italy is another fantastic place with houses built on cliffsides. We stayed in one that was built right on the edge so when you looked out the window you looked straight down to the water hundreds of feet below. It was surreal.
Mind blowing!
Hahaa, love your dry wit AND you are pyroclastic flows of information!
Check out Ronda in Spain. Amazing and very special city too.
In Pompeii, there were voids left in the ash so they filled them with cement and when the ash was removed the figures of humans were what remained made of cement, some in such detail you can see facial expressions.
I'm really glad somebody thought of that! Imagine if all that would have been lost.
U should have added Veliko Tarnovo city in Bulgaria.
maybe I didn't understand well the video because to me it meant not exactly the edge of something as Venice for example, but cities co-existing in or close to dangerous places..... so, if you classify "Napoli" as in an edge, how about San Francisco which is in the top of 3 mountains and over a tectonic failure which could make the city just disappear any moment?
Hi,
Mount Niyaragongo last erupted on 22 May 2021.
Just saying.
Thanks for interesting and thought provoking videos.
Regards
Warren Nasson
I'm disappointed in the fact that they didn't exhibit more compassion for the folks who have no choice but to live in dangerous areas because of poverty. Sigh. 😔
And I'm disappointed that you're here on a "Top Five" video, expecting the narrator to do anything other than list the "top five" listings pertaining to the subject matter. This isn't woke CNN, it's a RUclips video. Smdh
I wish I can go to one of those cities! Looks great!

Salzburg Austria has businesses and houses built into the main mountain and in the czek republic there is a town just like the French one with castles and water running through it first name was Chezny something, a lot cooler than France and probably cheaper with incredible glassworks available with old glass designs being made from thousands of years ago very cool
To everyone who is reading this, you’re beautiful and an amazing person. Please exercise frequently and eat more fruits/veggies. I wish you all good health, great success, and everlasting happiness!!!!!!!

Very informative
The Pompeii ruins were only found bc a guy was digging under his house, I believe to deal w a plumbing issue n they found the ruins. People built over previous ruins in this exact area MULTIPLE times!!!
I love your videos thank u
Use the volcanoes for energy. It is pretty simple really; use the concrete like trough. Fill the trough with water and use the hot water and steam as energy.
Lava is only six minutes away?!
COMEONMAN!! 😳😳🙁😱🤦🏻♀️
Come to Aizawl Mizoram, India- its built om the edge of hill
The city near the volcano is living on the edge for sure and not knowing when it will erupt.
There are parts of the San Joaquin Valley that are sinking up to a foot a year, so two inches in New Orleans at 2 inches a year is minor compared to that. They say the water in San Francisco Bay could come into the port of Stockton CA and flood the major part of the "Big Valley", and I'll bet Barbara Stanwick never dreamed of that!
I was born in 1961, and I have heard that forever, growing up in Palo Alto. My aunt was a huge believer that we were going to drown at any time and was forever...forever predicting it. The San Joaquin valley is like the Nile, it is an agricultural region that floods, sinks, rises, ebbs and flows and occasionally floods unbelievably. That's WHY the earth is so fertile there. It's going to be doing that a thousand years from now. Sure, you shouldn't build your house on the edge of it, if you do, you'll lose it eventually, but that's the rhythm of the area, not a big disaster to wipe us out....

Placerville in the heezy ✌🏼
@@Garbagejuicewaterfall
Are you in Placerville??
@@christineparis5607 actually, since the drought, farmers have pumped a lot of water out of the ground, making the dry aquifers collapse. This isn't a myth that you can brush off any longer. I suggest reading up on it. Statistics don't lie!
Wow those cities are amazing but dangerus places...
Thank you
I was very surprised that
For Yanjin, fill the river with sand and stone to clean it.
Did you even consider Constantine, Algeria ?
First one; If they site planned that collection of; accidents waiting for a time to happen, as well as they drive, it's only a matter of time...smh. BILLIONS of square acres on earth to build upon...WHY?
Really interesting! Maybe they are all prisons.
Goma already had another volcanic eruption recently though.
Jakarta needs to use sand and stone to clean there waterway and allow business to traverse and operate in the waterway.
What about Galveston, Texas? The city built on a sandbar that in 1900, SHOULD have provided New Orleans a serious hint, even though in those days, the U. S. Weather Bureau used New Orleans as a dumping ground for such employees who embarrassed it, like Isaac Cline, who just before the Galveston hurricane, did everything he could to convince the residents that there was nothing to worry about.
New Orleans is over 300 years old. Galveston should have taken the hint
This was interesting but maybe you could have done different categories for #1 Cliff edge #2 Volcano edge #3 Sea level, etc... I only wanted to see the cliff ones. That first city in China was the most fascinating to me because it's still inhabited by so many people. (although he said it was not thriving)
9:17 guess that's the inspiration for the map de_inferno in CS
No sympathy or compassion for people who take up housekeeping in a known precarious arrangement with mother nature.
👍👍👍
TAGYTAY CITY, Philippines.
It's located ON the mouth of an active volcano that had a major eruption just in 2021.
They say RENO IS SO CLOSE TO HELL YOU CAN SEE SPARKS.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. .

What about Veliko Turnovo, Bulgaria?
The ancient city of Constantine in Algeria 🇩🇿????
At the first place i guess all the 15 are cities but some are actually villages
This is exactly why devastating landslide, earthquake, floods etc claims so many lives in third world countries
death by lava or death by tsunami? hahah
and where is the netherland on this list
It's not, that's where.
I live in Jakarta, Indonesia. Flood is common thing here
So where is Constantin, Algeria? In my opinion it's one of terrifying looking cities in the world
Forgot Mexico City.
Lets plant palms directly under power lines 🤪🤪🤪🇦🇺
Veliko Tarnovo city, Bulgaria
Vaucluse, Australia
Alupka, Crimea, Russia
The narrator sounds very much like Ze Frank at times. Hmm.... is Ze moonlighting? 😉❤🇬🇧
Another place that should be on a list like this is Washington DC. It is sinking since it was built in a swamp. 2 other places because of volcanoes is Seartle and Portland.
I am sad today I didn't got a single subscriber 😭😭😭😭...........
So scary
If Pompeii is included, you also need to include Plymouth, Montserrat...
How lovely would it be if we can go to one of these amazing countries?
what! im live in Jakarta!
If you're not living on the edge, then you're taking up too much space.
Managua, Nicaragua?
Who would want to live like this?? My girl friend lived in the 9th ward! In new Orleans
Send her a Kevlar vest
mexico city?
Did I miss something, or did this list somehow not in Mexico City and the fact that it's sinking do to being built on top of lake.

Your first place is Pompei. Are you OK? Pompei is part of Naples. There is no need for Pompei if you sad Naples. Just like you sad New York and Manhattan... Pompei for your information is part of the city of Naples. Five kilometers from his center.
For YOUR information, the word is spelled, "said", not, "sad"....
I am sad today I didn't got a single subscriber 😭😭😭😭...........
Not true, it’s a different municipality and on the other side of Vesuvius compared to Naples, and they are something like 20 km away from each other
Bruh, all the cities are in Spain or Italy. Do you know that the world is much bigger that only Europe?
Hilo has also been severely damaged by Tsunamis

WHY?
Mormons stop reading so many books and put brotherly love, humility, and faith into practice.
Oh, that irritating education...

Though I hate Moronism, excuse me, Mormonism, Atheism also fails to adhere to those practices as well, but then again, when egotistical douchebags founded both ways of thought, it should not be surprising that this sort of thing happened in these organizations.

Pompeii should be treated as a cemetery not a goddammed tourist attraction, how would you like to be gawked at by strangers while frozen in death, half turned to dust from heat and ash? I personally would not like it one fucking bit.

You missed the Netherlands: 1/3 of the whole country is below the sea level. If the damns will brake, then goodbye to big part of the NL....
That's why the Dutch people often have caravans! 😉
you made a mistake when you were talking about the land under Jakarta. First you say the land is sinking then you say its sea level rise.
its both.
