I’m definitely getting the new one. The built in color calibration, faster chip, upgraded apple AirPlay, and high frame rate 4K playback are definitely worth the upgrade for me. Why not just return your Apple TV 4K and get the new one?
The Apple TV 4K 32GB is my streaming device of choice and I love it...And yes imo running apps on any streaming device will always be better than running them on just a smart tv.

You should set the video format to 4k SDR instead of 4k Dolby Vision. With 4k DV, the ATV will show everything in DV and colors will not look right for non HDR video. Also, have Match Frame Rate and Dynamic Range set to On.
I have an older Hisense 4k TV where the smart functionality is rather slow and dim witted. I bought the one you have and it has transformed the use of the TV for me. Additionally I think it has improved the quality compared to the app on the TV itself. I’d definitely recommend for anyone in a similar situation.
My TCL 4k tv is the same. android TV lags so much and disney plus isn't working. I don't want to use my PS5 as a streaming device that's why im planning to purchase the apple tv 4k too.

I have to agree that streaming does seem to look better via Apple TV vs native app. One of the main things I use the Apple TV 4K is for BT sport. As this is only available on Samsung smart TVs and not LG the app looks amazing when watching 4k hdr content.
Finally got one of these just because at this point my tv is old enough that it struggles to run or is losing support for streaming apps. TV still works great, I just need to offload to smart functionality to another device

I’ve been wanting a remote that can turn everything on and off and that I could just speak into it to change the channels or play a movie or TV program. I also like that you can put your phone up to the TV to correct the picture/color. I have a 4K TV and am sure my picture and color is all wrong. This will be quite helpful. Just want to see a beautiful picture at all times.
There’s a new one now but even with this model the more intuitive user interface and responsiveness because of the powerful processor makes it worth it to me.

Great vid, i have a 55cx and apple tv 4k but tend to use the apps on tv more i think the sound on the apple tv seems a lot quieter than at the same volume on the tv. The new one sounds good and the remote looks better.

Is it still worth it? Yes, if your tv is old and doesn’t support all the apps and you aren’t bothered by its picture quality this a much cheaper upgrade, then buying a new tv
If you get a new TV there is no point in get the Apple 4k TV. 4k TVs these days are all for the most part now smart TVs and can do many of the same things the Apple TV does. The only reason this would make sense is if you have a 4k tv that is not a smart TV.
Apple TV 2021! There’s rumours that apple’s new version of Apple TV will support AAA gaming but we won’t see it till the end of the year so i’d say that would be a huge improvement!

Don’t set format to 4k Dolby vision it should be set to the 50hz option with match content on, this stops your menu looking washed out

Nothing happens to the TV's interface. This Apple TV is a device that plugs into your TV. It doesn't alter the TV's software.
