Roku does not have Bluetooth capability for earphones. Apple EarPods with noise cancelling is the only way to fly. Airplay with an Apple TV is seamless. The new remote is worthwhile but then you might want to upgrade to the 2021 TV for the price which includes the new remote. Not until you start playing Dolby Vision/HDR sources. The difference between non-Dolby Vision and those with Dolby Vision is night and day. The colors are just very satisfying not to mention the contrast. My TV is LCD. but it's like I'm watching on an OLED. The black levels at the edge of my TV is near black.
Been looking at this for a purchase. There’s rumors going around that a new iteration is imminent. Not sure if I should wait on the newest and improved? or just buy this one on sale now? Any suggestions? Also, would you say the picture quality is better than native tv apps?
coming from a 10-year-old Apple TV - I needed a new one - obviously... If I were to only need a new remote I figure the $60 price tag would be well worth it. How can a remote control be so great... 1- quickly open a new app with Siri & button location 2 - new trackpad becomes intuitive very fast - may be too sensitive on occasion 3- having a Mute button on it is well worth it - I use it all the time. Not having to dig up the television remote - 4- the size is just right in the hand - the flat sides (ala iPhone 12) is gold - Very ergonomic. 5- Rechargeable battery 6- Being able to easily use the controls (most used are the mute, volume & pause buttons) without requiring to pick the remote up is also nice (for me 50% of the time) Lots of smaller remotes are not so well designed in that way! After a few more days I end up using all of the buttons in that way & less so the trackpad part. 7 The ability to start and shut down Apple TV * television with one power button is great. I use the power button all the time - it is the only remote I have to use now.
For the Apple TV 4K (future proof for newer set & improved resolutions) 32GB- what I like best - in no order 1- Picture & picture 2- Faster 3- Just better overall 4- Able to lock in playback speed in YT (not able to do that on the old A tv - firestick did not permanently lock it in) 5- TV+ app integration with some other apps One thing I will miss for ease of use (as on the Fire Stick remote) is to be able to simply with a 2 button press (1 long - 1 short) "save to watch later" a video while browsing on RUclips. With Apple, it is way less easy (more miserable - 8 button press) to do. Interesting how in the unboxing videos - No one commented on the very well-designed shipping box that the A tv box was shipped in. Those who showed the shipping box just cut the plastic without realizing a hammock-style suspension that was employed. Simply Brilliant... One month later for me. I think it works great overall I love having the mute button - game-changer when letter ads run their course. The trackpad is good and use it a lot - except there ends up being many false actions that occur. The Siri button is used a lot and the button location is spot on.
Nice review! Sounds like you're happy with it. I think the shipping box observation is very true, but I think we're so used to it now (iPhones/iPads etc have been shipped like this for 5+ years) that it's actually taken for granted haha
@@SpawnPoiint I get it - But this was my 1st Apple shipment and thought the shipping box was engeneous. THX for commenting. Next purchase iPhone 13 pro...

Fantastic review mate and beautifully shot. One question, does this version require line of sight for the remote to work? Apple told me it does, but you seem to place yours in a cabinet… thanks mate
I am sure many people like myself appreciate a comprehensive review after having used the product for a few weeks, as opposed to the several me too "first to the post" reviews on YT. Great video.
“2021 Apple TV” I could definitely use one since the smart tv I have doesn’t have all the apps I want and since I’m transferring from cable to streaming more.👍👌🔥
Another great video, thanks mate! Love the way you compare against the old model and call out the fact that you can buy the remote separately. I am a heavy user of the Apple ecosystem so I have been considering buying an Apple TV for a while. This is just the review I needed to make the decision.
When you airplay from your Mac (extended display mode), do you get 4K resolution or still only 1080p? All reviews I've seen so far missed mentioning this...
You get 4K. I have this Apple TV, an m1 MacBook and a c1 lg tv. I downloaded a 4K movie and it played in that resolution no lag or distortion. It’s crazy
Actually although the AppleTV app is available on other non-apple devices, if you have a iTunes movie library you’ll be missing out on all the iTunes extras including different versions of the movies. You can alter the responsiveness of the remote or even switch off the touch functionality, also the remote works with my old AppleTV, I think it depends on the TVOS you can install.

I have both generations of 4K tvs. I recommend buying the gen 1 if it’s on sale. It’s certainly not worth upgrading a gen 1 to a gen 2. - processor speed feels the same - wifi 6 is sub par to hardwiring via Ethernet - the new remote is neat, but I use my iPhone
The Roku has a find my remote feature. Anyone with kids knows that this is the most amazing feature ever. The amazing video quality. The arcade. The sound and upgraded hdmi does not compare to that “find my remote” button on top of my Roku. But you can use your phone if you lose your remote you say? The phone is annoying except when typing in the search.
Plus, Roku is just more fun! All the colorful wall paper selections…..and the way your selections are highlighted. And the Roku remote is cute and easy to use! 🌈🐸🌈
I have the C1 too : have you noticed a difference in picture quality between hdr 4k movies played through the tv’s native streaming apps and the Apple TV’s version of the app? I was just wondering if there is a noticeable difference in picture quality depending on the device used.
@@johnzealand9397 yes, the Apple TV version of the app is better in that it provides a significantly better image, in my opinion. I now don’t use the native apps at all and only use the apps on the Apple TV. iTunes movies also look to look better through the Apple TV!
A10x chip benchmarks higher than the A12 chip. That X makes a big difference.... 120 MHz only matters if your TV supports that which the majority do not. Only very new TV sets support it, in other words for most people there is virtually no reason to upgrade. I think this update was just a chip change as Apple likely wanted to stop producing the A10x as not used in anything else now and they just updated the wi-fi, hdmi port and remote in the process. Totally agree with your conclusion that its not worth updating if you have the older one.
Just wanted to point out that because the USB/HDMI naming conventions are so convoluted, all the specs that would make a cable/connector truly HDMI 2.1 are optional, meaning that it’s realistically a HDMI 2.0 on the 2nd Gen. Apple TV port, which caps out at 4K 60fps for HDR content. In the “Tech Specs” on their product website it has these details. So not a huge problem unless you want as much 4K HDR High-Refresh Rate content as the world can provide. Great content as always spawnpoiint, clean, to the point, and entertaining!
I also have the LG OLED, and I'm looking to get the Apple TV 4K (2021) to bypass the terrible webOS UI (along with the bloated homescreen with ads) and clunky remote that came with the TV. I do have an important question: if I purely use the Apple TV remote for streaming, will I still need the LG remote to switch HDMI inputs? I have a PS5 / Switch / Chromecast connected to the other HDMI inputs, and I want to be able to seamlessly switch inputs without using the LG remote to do it. Is there a way to do it? I know the PS5 has an auto-switch option (HDMI Link or something, it's called?), but what about the others? I'm looking to avoid using the terrible LG remote completely. Any help/advice/tips appreciated. Thanks in advance! EDIT: So I got the Apple TV. The Switch seems to sometimes automatically switch to the correct input when I turn it on but other times it just doesn't. Seems a little buggy. PS5 works flawlessly though, and so does Stadia.

Yup, thanks for the great video. I am planning to buy one. Got the part that it's not worth spending the extra 20 bucks for the 64GB variant. But the sales rep at the store says 32GB gets filled quickly enough. Does this store any music/movies as well like the 1st Generation Apple TV did (the one that looked like a Mac Mini. I had the 40GB version, and I swapped in a 160GB drive into it myself for increased capacity. But because it was such a drag as a product, I have never bothered to look for another Apple TV all this while.
I have the LG G1, and yes for certain applications. For HBO Max you don’t have a Smart tv option and those in particular sound and look incredible with Dolby Atmos/Vision. I can’t stand the LG G1 remote which is close to the CX’s (I’ve owned both). And Sony sent me a message like a week ago saying that I can order one from them I guess because I been playing PlayStation for a while idk but I clicked it and they let me order one from them for 500
2021 Apple TV….I just bought my first iPhone and I am enjoying the iPhone experience
I’m gonna hold on old 4K still 💨
Not a bad idea, not worth changing.
Roku does not have Bluetooth capability for earphones. Apple EarPods with noise cancelling is the only way to fly. Airplay with an Apple TV is seamless. The new remote is worthwhile but then you might want to upgrade to the 2021 TV for the price which includes the new remote. If you keep the older remote just get one of the cheap silicone covers to protect the finger pad from drops.
Hi mate when will u put ur projector full setup and movie experince ?
I did a video a few weeks ago mate
I have the old original Apple TV but RUclips is no longer supported I was thinking about getting this new one as I see that RUclips is on this version. The Apple TV is a lot better and quicker than my smart tv. Thanks for the review.
Great idea mate. Thanks for watching too.
I would love a Apple TV. But I already have a smart tv with airplay
Same, i dont see what the benefit to buy Apple tv, i also can pair my AirPods to the tv. Expect the Apple Arcade

I love the new remote and the new console is nice and snappy. Other than that I notice no different on my new Oled.

Just bought the new Apple TV 4K 32GB 👌
"2021 Apple TV" Great video as always! 😁
Thank you!
coming from a 10-year-old Apple TV - I needed a new one - obviously... If I were to only need a new remote I figure the $60 price tag would be well worth it. How can a remote control be so great...
1- quickly open a new app with Siri & button location
2 - new trackpad becomes intuitive very fast - may be too sensitive on occasion
3- having a Mute button on it is well worth it - I use it all the time. Not having to dig up the television remote -
4- the size is just right in the hand - the flat sides (ala iPhone 12) is gold - Very ergonomic.
5- Rechargeable battery
6- Being able to easily use the controls (most used are the mute, volume & pause buttons) without requiring to pick the remote up is also nice (for me 50% of the time) Lots of smaller remotes are not so well designed in that way! After a few more days I end up using all of the buttons in that way & less so the trackpad part.
7 The ability to start and shut down Apple TV * television with one power button is great. I use the power button all the time - it is the only remote I have to use now.
For the Apple TV 4K (future proof for newer set & improved resolutions) 32GB- what I like best - in no order
1- Picture & picture
2- Faster
3- Just better overall
4- Able to lock in playback speed in YT (not able to do that on the old A tv - firestick did not permanently lock it in)
5- TV+ app integration with some other apps
One thing I will miss for ease of use (as on the Fire Stick remote) is to be able to simply with a 2 button press (1 long - 1 short) "save to watch later" a video while browsing on RUclips.
I think it works great overall
I love having the mute button - game-changer when letter ads run their course.
Imagine AirPods max or AirPods Pro + Apple TV along with Dolby Atmos content. Man this will be a beast as you will have a cinema in your hound.
I have 2 Samsung QLED TV and sold my apple TV boxes because both TVs come with Apple TV built inside. It allows me to do everything the boxes did. It's amazing.

Fantastic review mate and beautifully shot. One question, does this version require line of sight for the remote to work? Apple told me it does, but you seem to place yours in a cabinet… thanks mate
2021 Apple TV, thanks I might just upgrade the remote and get the headphones.
I am sure many people like myself appreciate a comprehensive review after having used the product for a few weeks, as opposed to the several me too "first to the post" reviews on YT. Great video.
Thank you mate, I appreciate that!
“2021 Apple TV” I could definitely use one since the smart tv I have doesn’t have all the apps I want and since I’m transferring from cable to streaming more.👍👌🔥
Thanks mate. Yes it’s ideal if you don’t have all the apps on your tv.
Another great video, thanks mate! Love the way you compare against the old model and call out the fact that you can buy the remote separately. I am a heavy user of the Apple ecosystem so I have been considering buying an Apple TV for a while. This is just the review I needed to make the decision.
Thanks for watching
2021 apple tv, I'm a UI designer and thumbs up to the apple tv clean UI
When you airplay from your Mac (extended display mode), do you get 4K resolution or still only 1080p? All reviews I've seen so far missed mentioning this...
You get 4K. I have this Apple TV, an m1 MacBook and a c1 lg tv. I downloaded a 4K movie and it played in that resolution no lag or distortion. It’s crazy
I will buy for the first time Apple TV 4K after your analysis. Thank you 🙏
Actually although the AppleTV app is available on other non-apple devices, if you have a iTunes movie library you’ll be missing out on all the iTunes extras including different versions of the movies. You can alter the responsiveness of the remote or even switch off the touch functionality, also the remote works with my old AppleTV, I think it depends on the TVOS you can install.
I’m just going to buy the remote I have 4K one and it’s been great after 2 years of used no problems at all.
Yes I’d do the same mate.
2021 Apple TV 😁
Great informative vid as always 👌🏻 you just produce such clean, well constructed, detailed videos on tech that I can't afford but want 😂
Nice work 🔥👍🏻
Thank you for the support mate
its cheap
I still have the hd model, I believe version 3. I don’t have a 4K tv so I have no reason to upgrade. And I still love my Apple TV
"2021 Apple TV". I would use it more specifically to navigate through the apps while I'm watching an apple original, and listen to apple music with dolby atmos. The tv or a sound bar would be like the club speaker.
I didn't think we needed an add on "box" because I got a 4K Smart TV, but the TV's software is so slow and clunky we use a Fire TV Stick almost all the time now. It works so much better than the TV OS.
which tv do you have?
@@ernestohernandez9370 Its one of the Philip Ambilight TV's.. Basically its about as cheap as you can get for 65" and 4k. Obviously more expensive TVs will have better and faster OS... but you buy what you can afford...
@@stubones yeah absolutely you are right buy what you can afford and don't get into debt . I bought the apple tv 4k but I have a new lg oled c1 77 so for me it's not worth buying it my friend convince me to buy it even though I don't need it at all im just going to return it.

I have both generations of 4K tvs. I recommend buying the gen 1 if it’s on sale. It’s certainly not worth upgrading a gen 1 to a gen 2.
- processor speed feels the same
- wifi 6 is sub par to hardwiring via Ethernet
- the new remote is neat, but I use my iPhone
good job broo
The Roku has a find my remote feature. Anyone with kids knows that this is the most amazing feature ever. The amazing video quality. The arcade. The sound and upgraded hdmi does not compare to that “find my remote” button on top of my Roku. But you can use your phone if you lose your remote you say? The phone is annoying except when typing in the search.
Find my remote is the best feature for sure. My kids lose the remote every single day.
Me, too. Did you get an answer?
Thanks mate.
Love these videos
Thank you
Great video. Do wish the iOS Task View had a *Close All* option rather than closing each individual app.
2021 Apple TV
Just wanted to point out that because the USB/HDMI naming conventions are so convoluted, all the specs that would make a cable/connector truly HDMI 2.1 are optional, meaning that it’s realistically a HDMI 2.0 on the 2nd Gen. Apple TV port, which caps out at 4K 60fps for HDR content. In the “Tech Specs” on their product website it has these details. So not a huge problem unless you want as much 4K HDR High-Refresh Rate content as the world can provide. Great content as always spawnpoiint, clean, to the point, and entertaining!
Thanks for the info too.

I’d just get an Xbox. The audio is really lacking on these devices in my opinion.
I’ve noticed this too thinking about returning mine these you tubers over hype these products
@@ReyesInspirationalHaven Its up to you man. You can install Apple TV on Xbox, and the audio absolutely blew me away, especially with surround sound. I think its because they have a partnership with Dolby Atmos.
All other streaming services are there too, and of course, its an Xbox, so you can play games there as well. But in the end, it's your choice mate.

Very nice review. Please can I recommend you adjust your center speaker position to flush with the front of your shelf as your current setup will seriously muffle your sound. It'll make a big difference to dialogue.

This is actually the main reason I'm thinking about picking one of these up finally. My iPad with my Xbox controller has become one of my favorite gaming systems...and the thought of seamlessly playing those games through my iPad on my tv screen is super appealing! Thanks for the video man!
Quicker way to connect AirPods is to keep the Home button pressed to bring up control centre from the right hand side then scroll down to the Airplay icon and select AirPods from there. Takes 5 seconds and something I use all the time.
Nice one, I guess once it's connected it's done.

What if you have multiple family members. Can they add the Apple TV on their phones?
Yup, thanks for the great video. I am planning to buy one. Got the part that it's not worth spending the extra 20 bucks for the 64GB variant. But the sales rep at the store says 32GB gets filled quickly enough. Does this store any music/movies as well like the 1st Generation Apple TV did (the one that looked like a Mac Mini. I had the 40GB version, and I swapped in a 160GB drive into it myself for increased capacity. But because it was such a drag as a product, I have never bothered to look for another Apple TV all this while.
Mine is arriving shortly, i'm sure its great! I have AppleTV 4k's in everyone room, my office will get this upgrade though.
Would getting an Apple TV be a big upgrade from the LG CX capable applications ?
I have the LG G1, and yes for certain applications. For HBO Max you don’t have a Smart tv option and those in particular sound and look incredible with Dolby Atmos/Vision. I can’t stand the LG G1 remote which is close to the CX’s (I’ve owned both). Finding content is simple on the Apple TV and you can use a search to find everything in any app or subscription service you have.

Apple 2021. I heard that you can now pair the HomePods with the Apple TV that send audio from hdmi connected devices (ps5 etc) to the HomePods. I’d upgrade from gen 1 for that.

I went with the Google TV that is $70 vs $249 for Apple TV in Canada. My thing was the Apple TV does have a few extra features but didn't justify the price difference.
