I really value the way you reflect and represent the "kingdom" culture. You are a believable carrier of the Lord - your language and the topics you engage with are life-giving. There is no lazy, formulaic christenese language. Thanks. I would suggest that when you feature or take a cut out of a conversation as you did with JP and The Pints with Aquino's guy, let the highlighted conversation move uninterrupted - after which you might then comment. The Christian default always seems to over explain and over embellish. That said, I enjoy listening to you.

I saw this just now. I sinned again and went straight back to that evil. I’m so tired of it. I hate it so much. I want to get clean and get rid of this sin. I need to spend time with the Lord, and not stay in places I know will tempt me. If I stay up too late or am by myself with my phone it’s a temptation. I’ve gotta avoid these things.

Stay strong. I know it’s difficult, I have been struggling off and on with it as well. It’s really important to figure out what your triggers are and to find ways to avoid them. I finally had to admit that gaming and other hobbies that I love can be triggers for me as well. Praying consistently is vital. And most importantly remember that God will always forgive you if you truly want to change. Take the necessary actions. I decided recently that I am going to do a 90 day fast from gaming and other distractions to get more into my Bible Study, prayer and purpose. I recommend taking drastic action if you are serious. Find what motivates you and use it to get out of this hole. I’m praying for you 🙏

It's going to get better. There is redemption and salvation in Jesus Christ. Run to Christ. Run to the Lord. Follow hard after Him. He is the only one who can truly set you free from sin, and if not set you free, give you peace in the midst of it. If you're constantly running from your sin, your focus is constantly going to be on your sin. But if you're constantly running to Jesus, and chasing after Him, your focus will constantly be on Him. So don't run from your sin - instead, run continually toward Christ. Be broken over your sin, allow your heart to be contrite over it, but don't allow the enemy to shame you for giving in. Don't allow Satan to deter you from spending time with God. I can say from personal experience that this change in mindset and perspective have not gone so far as to free me from the grip of lust and pornography, but have definitely helped me to see them as non-issues in the light of God's grace. (not saying that sin isn't an issue, just that I'm no longer concerned that I sin and instead choose to trust that the Lord will free me from it).

I don’t want to fully explain it because it was the most terrifying and traumatic experience I’ve ever had, and for fear of it happening again. I was literally scared straight and am two days clean now. Stay strong brothers and sisters, porn is evil, and will grip its fingers of sin around you until you’re at rock bottom or even further.

I have struggled with this all my life. I became a born-again, baptized Christian six years ago but it was not until the last few months that I have finally overcome it. My personal experience is that sexual sin should not be tackled independently. It is the symptom of a broken mind. We must transform our lives and renew our minds through the word of God so that sexual sin does not appeal to us anymore. Our lives become so full of love and joy that sexual sin becomes not only unnecessary but also repugnant. The reason is, as long as we still find it attractive, relapse is always possible whatever we do to stay away from it. Praise the Lord. I am a living testimony to the fact that this prevalent and pernicious sin can indeed be conquered, for nothing is impossible for God.

I struggled with this for years, but I finally managed to break the cycle. It's important to understand that sin separates us from God, and when we willfully sin, we enslave ourselves to our own desires. We become prisoners of our own sin, and the only way to free ourselves is to reject this sin and fully accept God's will and mercy. When you are convicted by the Holy Spirit, you don’t have the same desire to sin as before.

There is no wonder as to why young people today have so much anxiety, it's because what people thought would give them freedom only made them prisoners to the wind. There is a direct connection between anxiety and lawlessness. Having no certainty about anything is the same as being totally insecure. Things that are no longer up for question are things you no longer have to worry about. There's freedom in rules and structure because there's security in it. We may need to think outside the box sometimes but we must not forget that the box is whole point. Believe me it's quite tiresome to have to constantly rediscover the wheel every time you have a problem.

@@dahliaherrod4301 definitely a lesson I learned the hard way. We tug at the threads of our reality at our own peril. Our society is organized the way it is because people over thousands of years have arrived at what works best. It's funny how so many people who believe in the scientific method are so quick to throw out the data collected for millenia by our ancestors in the grand experiment called life. Our ancestors didn't arrive at their conclusions for no reason and laws, especially God's laws, are in place for our benefit not to enslave us but to free us from harmful consequences. I like the box we live in because it is safe and secure, the box being the safety and security we enjoy tucked under the wings of Christ. Some unbelievers say they don't believe because they only want the truth, but how does that truth serve them? Does it help them at all to only believe in what they can prove? And in a godless point of view how much does the truth count for anyway when ultimately they and any so-called truth they have will cease to be. Truth counts more for us than it does for them. And if the truth is that our beliefs comfort us and give us peace whereas their truth gives them only anxiety and uncertainty, then whose truth is better? If our truth yields greater benefit, even regardless of whether actually true(it is but they don't know that), doesn't that suggest it is the greater truth and is true from top to bottom? It's spiritually true which means it is true for us regardless of physical truth because we are what occupies the flesh not the flesh itself. Our spiritual life is not sustained by physical truth but by spiritual truth and that is "every word proceeds from the mouth of God". Truth without God to give it life is a barren wasteland and like Jesus said "when a spirit comes out of a man it goes to a dry place". The universe without God is a desert. But anyway if you have read this far thanks for listening and I am sorry for the length. May the Lord bless you abundantly with every fruit worth having in Jesus's name!

Apart of me said "Oh Ima do this myself I got this". 6 years later I realized my mistakes lmao. So far been sober from drinking for like 8 months or something haven't kept track just stopped. Life turned around, I went from homeless to 6 digits in the bank which to me is crazy cause it's like, you wish you did it sooner even if you know if you went back the same thing would happen again. The wild thing is that when I started diving into theology learning about history and religions is when my drive for wanting to drink stopped. After that, for job and lotta other stuff, personal religious experiences came into play. But it's true. Getting into religion tbf really does stop alcoholism.

I went with my wife to pray with a mentor from my church. Theophostic prayer is a fancy way of saying you ask God to reveal the root of something. Did that, asked God to reveal the lie, reveal the truth, renounce the lie, proclaim and agree with the truth, repent. Walked away feeling no different. Had prayed many times before about this. For whatever reason on that day it was real, and is real. I stopped being a slave, it was no longer a part of my identity, still isn't. A couple of months after I did "fall" into masturbation again, but it wasn't the same. It's been over 15 years now since I last did that thing that made me feel less. To me this is just as much a miracle as a spontaneous physical miracle, which has also happened to me since. Jesus Christ is real.

I had a very similar experience nearly a month ago. Jesus delivered me from a decade-long addiction to marijuana and porn/masturbation. Masturbation was a near daily occurrence and I was stoned so often that sobriety literally became my alternate state of mind. After attending an apologetics conference at a church in a nearby city, I cast aside my pride, humbled myself and cried out to Jesus with tears running down my face, “please, Jesus, take these sinful desires away from me!” He did just that. I haven’t indulged in either of my addictions since, nor do I have any desire to. Jesus saved me from something I tried, and failed, to save myself from for years! He is so faithful. That was just over three weeks ago. Ironically, my first day of sobriety was 4/20/24, a day that I had historically smoked the most during every year since I started years ago. For those that don’t know, in cannabis culture, 4/20 is basically a day of celebrating everything cannabis-related. Not only is Jesus full of grace, mercy and love, He clearly has a sense of humor. Our God is SO great!

@@user-gx4wi4cv2m It's been awhile, but I believe the lie was that I needed it, that it was a part of me. The truth is I am a good son by God's grace, and that that sin is not who I am. I think confession isn't just owning up to sin, it's also stating the truth of God for that situation as a declaration.
P.S. Forgot to mention that part of the process is asking the Holy Spirit to show you the first instance of this sin in your life, the root. Law of first mention type thing.

You must slowly cut off things out, people say once you profess christ you are save, but saving is an everyday process, this is why Paul speaks of running a race, you train and train everyday, just like lifting weight, you do it often. I used to be a heavy porn user and hardcore drug addict but porn started to disgust me years ago before I got clean and these days I only watch porn when I buy crack which is pretty rare these days. I'm on a path to compete abstinence from both with the Lord's help. It can be done but you have to want to change or it'll never happen.

I'm a Catholic. What I find helpful, daily Mass (rise early to get in breakfast 1 hour before daily Mass), work, regular exercise, and praying the rosary before bed. I can't receive the eucharist in a state of mortal sin, which I would consider pornography and self fornication to be in that category, so going to daily Mass gives me the self accountability to make it to the next day.
Dr. Petersen is right. Replacement is the key. For me, it was adding daily mass, exercise, and prayer. Repetition pays dividends. I think that's the secret ingredient of the rosary.

Addiction is a spirit such as the spirit of lust.
    Matthew 12:43-45
43 “When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. 44 Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. 45 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.”

Find some hobbies and goals that you are passionate about and dedicate all of your free time to developing them. Just imagine what your future partner would want for you. Would they want you to be on your purpose and motivated, or constantly seeking self gratification. I know it’s easier said than done, but you need to get serious about what you want. Today’s world is constantly filled with triggers that if you don’t take action to remove them you will be blindsided by them constantly. Stay strong, go to God in prayer, and keep the faith. He will help you through this ✝️

I struggle with porn. I watch it for dopamine, I watch it because I'm trying to fill voids, I watch it because sometimes I feel like it's the only thing that makes me happy. I watch it because I wasn't happy (sexually) in my marriage, I watch it because I feel it is my identity....
I've gotten better over a few months as my faith was stronger. I've struggled with my faith and have gone back...
I hate admitting it, but a reason I don't quit porn is because of my lack of faith. My lack of faith is because of several things. One...I just don't want to have to quit and give up pleasure (identity etc) for something I'm not sure is real. I don't want to believe in something and find out I've been tricked. I have no idea how to explain to anyone why Christianity is the correct religion, over many others. I feel as if God is hiding and isn't there...I'll read and pray and feel like there's just no one there listening...I hate this feeling.
