Beretta APX Brazilian Contract

- Looking at the Brazilian Police contract Beretta APX from AIM Surplus. And as for the rear sights, the crappy paint job seems to be a thing for the APX across the board. I’ve since seen some non Brazilian contract APX’s with rear sights that look like mine. As for my friend’s Brazilian contract APXs that he ordered, one looks good and the other doesn’t look as bad as mine but is missing some paint.
Absolutely an excellent pistol, VERY reliable, honestly better then my G17. Scary accurate as well.
Fun thing too, when the slide is locked back from running out of ammo, when you slam in a new magazine the slide automatically returns placing a fresh round into the tube.
Have had mine for about 2 years, daily carry 100%.
Got mine new from a dealer, yeah it was close to $500. And still worth every dollar.
Came back to watch again. Pushing the takedown lever too much prevents the slide from releasing - something I've figured out. So you push in just enough to allow the lever to drop - too much and it locks up. Good thorough review. Thanks!
@@theoriginalOSOK thank you!
The four digit marking does in fact denote the manuf date. And the mark under the ejection port is a LE marking. I just got one of these about 3 weeks ago. I like it.
I got an aim surplus APX as well, and I love it. Mine also has those black marks on the sights.
I’ve been very happy with mine. But I do need to do something about those sights.
@@BrowncoatNerd A different firearm of mine had a similar issue. Actually the whole white insert in the sight fell out so it was even more extreme. I took some white citadel paint that I use to paint warhammer figures and put one dab on with a tiny brush and it fixed the issue. I don’t mind the black dots so I’m leaving my APX but if I was to remove them without getting new sights that’s what I’d do.
Just got one of these and I’m very impressed with it .
After getting it in my hands I was very happy with my purchase. And just the other day a finally got some range time. 100 rounds went by very fast and zero regrets!
Thank you for this review and information. I purchased one from AIM Surplus and am very pleased with it. The information that you provided in your video was spectacular and really interesting and informative. I would like to respond to your comments on the white dot rear sights. Just to let you know, I can see indents in the center of the white dots but they remained intact unlike yours which had a black hole in the center. Mine are solid but I do like the way that yours turned out. Thanks again for your very informative review.
@@jacobmoore4380 thank you very much!
Wow - what a great and informative video! It's rare to see someone give an accurate appraisal of an APX online. I believe it was the plethora of ignorant American Guntubers who - not understanding (or caring) that it was designed to be a pure LE/Military combat pistol - incessantly whined that the trigger wasn't a CZ Shadow trigger, the takedown was too difficult (they didn't bother reading the manual), it didn't have a red dot, etc etc that caused Beretta to dumb it down with the A1.
Just as an aside concerning the rear sights: I'm viewing this on a phone so I can't see details, but they have the same appearance that the 1st gen Tritium sights from Beretta have, which gives the appearance of a black dot in the middle of a white circle in daylight (not the same style as the A1 tritium fronts, which has no white outline from what I've been told?). They were made by Ameriglo. Do the rear sights have any branding on them from Ameriglo? Or is it just a painted black dot on them?
Anyways, great video - good job on showing how easy it is to take down an APX. I've noticed a few videos online where they have difficulty, but the recoil spring looks all gnarly and messed up - which might be what's giving them issues.
@@harpsitardo thank you! Unfortunately the sights aren’t Ameriglo sights. It’s almost as if the white paint caved in in the center. Most from this batch do not have this issue but a few others have reported this same problem. Not a huge deal to me as I plan on changing them to night sights.
On the right side of the apx underneath the ejection port, it also can say "ascensus". Minus the quotation marks of course.
Mine also has that marking. The serial # of mine is over 12,000 lower than the one in the video. I haven't been able to separate the slide from the frame, & the trigger pull leaves a lot to be desired. I'd be happy with an 8 pound trigger.
I found that I was pushing in too far on the slide take down lever. Push it in all of the way, the lever will still pivot, but the slide isn't going to release. The recoil spring is the flat wire type, & the striker spring in mine is the super stiff original with the black plastic guide rod.
I have bought one great price for a firearm very simple for anyone looking for a gun
Good video. Love my APX A1.
@@wesleysmith1141 thank you! I think I’ll probably end up getting an A1 as well.
OK I looked again, mine says ascensus my bad, still do not know what it stands for.
Did I miss why Brazil changed their minds on these?
@@MidwestPicker I don’t know if these are over runs or if Brazil just decided they didn’t need the rest of the order.
On the A1 the loaded chamber indicator is on the extractor.
Why did brazil buy these and get rid of them, likely for pennies on the dollar, almost right away?
@@nicklausmisiti5204 these may be over runs from Beretta. But I’m not positive on that. One thing I find interesting is they were imported into the US by Beretta USA. So it’s not like Brazil just sold them off to a random US importer. Also maybe Brazil realized they didn’t need as many as they ordered so returned some of these back to Beretta? Ether way it’s a good question and I’d like to find out why.
The bad things is after rebate I can get the a1 cheaper. Aim is a bit high on surplus. Surplus used to be way cheaper
@@mattr918 who’s selling an A1 for less than 300 (after rebate)?
Isn't Bidenomics great?
@Urbicide surplus was over priced before biden... not every thing has to be political.
does anyone know what the markings under the ejection port stand for. He has AS/BR I have "concensus" on mine.
@@Bob-gl6cg very interesting! Is yours one of the Brazilian contracts from AIM?
@@BrowncoatNerd yes just got it
@@Bob-gl6cg I’ve seen two other videos on these and they both had the same mark as mine. Perhaps yours was made for a different Brazilian police department than mine.
@@BrowncoatNerd I googled the word consensus and it translates to ascend, to go up. I wonder how that fits into the Brazilian Police?
@@Bob-gl6cg interesting. The mystery continues.
They’re almost free… lol.
300 for a full size new in box Beretta, you really can’t go wrong!
Unissued but someone played with it long enoigh to put a scratch on the slide. Left side below the Beretta logo.
@@budgetguncinema7777 that’s just an oil smear. If you go to the beginning of the video it’s not there.
@@BrowncoatNerd oh, nice! I have been contemplating buying one of these. I'm kind of an M&P fanboy though so I'm going back and forth between these APX's and the LEO M&P trade ins. I bought one of the M&P 45's last year and found it to be a great value but the APX is a spanking new gun for $20 more???🤔 decisions decisions.😅
@@budgetguncinema7777 that’s funny because I’ve been looking at the LEO M&Ps. Trying to decide between the gen 1 9mm or gen 2 40 S&W.
I will NEVER order anything from AIm again. They burned me on a 1201 a few ago!
@@PaulKersey5.56 that sucks. What was wrong with it?
Have you contacted them, I am sure they will make it right.
@@bwat05 I just would like to know what happened.
@@BrowncoatNerd they are good dudes in there, I hope they can help. They are local for me and have always been accommodating, so I doubt they intentionally wronged you.
I’ve had nothing but good experiences with them. Unless you’re referring to the rear sights on my APX. That doesn’t matter to me because I was planning on changing those out anyways.
I just bought one
