I got one on launch day, at that time I was shooting only Fujifilm for everything. Weddings, general life, etc. It quickly became my favourite camera ever, and when Covid hit I documented so so much of my kids growing up through that time. I swore I’d never sell it. It came to weddings, I used it to sneak around for documentary work at those, and I was featured at the HoP in Covent Garden in their exhibition, with one of my wedding photos.
Then- I just stopped using it, I’d hit a wall with photography- Covid had stopped my weddings, and when I did do some- I needed to get back into using something I loved. So, I sold the X100V, and indeed all of my Fujifilm gear, including my GFX50R, and had a complete change.
I ended up with two Sony A7iv’s, and to replace the X100V ‘for me’ I got a great deal on a Leica Q2. I do miss the X100v at times, and I cannot believe the hype and overpriced situation with it- I sold mine for WAY less- just before all this nonsense started.
    Great camera though.

I ran into a limited edition X100 a few years ago for about half its original retail price. I have loved it ever since. All through the X100S, X100T, X100F and now the X100V I have no desire to upgrade to another camera. I'm so happy with its output that I see no reason. I've actually shot two small weddings with it (client loved it) and plenty of street and it's still fun. I bought an X Pro3 a year ago and hardly ever use it. I'll only look to upgrade if this one breaks!

The price of the x100v recently dropped to the point where you can get a used one at its original price and if you can find one at less than 10000 clicks, it's not that bad of a deal. So I got one. I find it nice, but it will definitely not replace the love I have for shooting with my Sony a7Rii and Voigtlander lenses. I am an all manual street and landscape shooter and using interchangable Voigtlander lenses on the classic a7Rii has mad me fall in love, and learn, classic photography. I can see why the x100v is favored by all auto shooters with big auto lenses, but it won't replace my setup. It doesn't come close really. Also, the color science is not better outside, but it is better inside, but I use my phone for those anyway.

I think fundamentally, the X100V is so overhyped because there are 100s of RUclipsrs who own X100Vs asking 'Is the X100V overhyped?' and saying 'No it isnt'. Great video. I really like the conversations and opinions from others on the topic. Comment on "over hyped"; It's interesting that many believe it's "over hyped", yet it's their favorite camera, or the one they carry with them all the time, etc. I think I would like to know, has it lived up to the hype? In many ways I think it has. While several opinions stated about features were downplayed, it was often in the context of "for most people" or directed at persons considering inter changeable lens cameras. For what the camera is and what it's made to be, the feature list seems impressive and the quality is certainly top level (IMO), and in my case, the enjoyment of photography is something I think this camera delivers on considerably. For those reasons, I think it has lived up to the hype. (Also, I paid retail price for mine in Jan '23. No markup)

The high used / production issues shortage price might seem crazy, but the actual MSRP is fair, only $100 more than the original X100. Images from it aren’t technically better than my now inexpensive D600, but the X100 is small and looks sexier taking them. ;)

I had an X100V for two years, but found I actually liked the Nikon Zfc better. I'm guessing the reason I liked the Zfc better mostly has to do with the fact that I've been shooting with Nikon cameras for over fifteen years and am super familiar with the controls and menus. There was nothing about the final output of the files from the X100V that was noticeably better than any other quality camera, but there are a ton of quirks that I ultimately couldn't get on with. So when I had the chance to sell my X100V for significantly more than I paid for it new two years ago I let it go. I was able to use the funds to purchase a brand new Nikon Z7, which turns out to be an amazing tool for scanning negatives. At the end of the day, it's not the gear that takes a great photo, it's the photographer. So for me, I've found it's simply best to use whatever I'm most comfortable with rather than what's most hyped on RUclips.
