      This why we discuss with civility to gain actual perspective about word and deed. Yes Tom is a treasure. To stay away from fascist influence and mind games- is to look really close at what policies are enacted and whose deeds are most loyal to We the People, that is why, I had to leave the DNC to remain on the right side of history! No more of Harris, her lack of substance. Please look closely and decide for yourselves.... & I do believe you will find with clarity of mind, the true leader, now in most thinly veiled exile, yet almost been shot twice, as said in the book of wisdom, "There are none so blind as those who will not see." So I took a deeper dive... my vote is for the people & who I know can be counted on, to do the best job, as I fully agree... about freedoms of choice, of expression and more, all we are born with by grace of God who must have shielded our greatest President, our true leader, Donald J Trump a man born on Flag Day. Now we understand about how dancing with destiny is at hand! Please be well and in high spirits, as something grand and very good is being offered to we the people. I wish us all, all the best- ~RaVen~

      @T RYou realize that the Far Right holds the most power in America, right? Tucker Carlson has the most views, and he's the worst person to represent FOX. Trump is loved more by his most supporters than McCain was. Even Mitt Romney is bashed by Republicans for being lenient with the left. The far left is hated by everyone, because they make the moderate left look bad. Republicans are not the problem; but it is the fact that so many people as polarized as you exist. My prediction is that a moderate Republican president would either save this country or destroy it. Not because of democrats, but because of stubborn far right politicians depicting as the left as something worse than Satan (hyperbole), and not wanting to even think of compromising with the left. Both sides are corrupt, of course, but Republicans have significantly more power when polarized than the Democrats. Republicans are also more commonly polarized than Democrats. And don't give me that "You're a snowflake" bullshit, because I'm an independent. Trump is a disgrace to the Republican Party, not just to America. The people who trespassed on the capitol weren't looking to attack Democrats only; they were looking to attack ANYONE that disagreed with Trump, including (who they thought) Ted Cruz, and knowingly Mike Pence. Also, that original commenter is Italian, he holds no bias towards Democrats or Republicans, he saw what he saw, and came to his conclusion as such. If you think he's brainwashed by the Left of America, you're simply in denial that you may be wrong.

      Funny thing, Tom is an old buddy of mine & we do debate, disagree, & party all the same. What most miss is we do not wish to have a divisive solidarity, yet for all to unify after the will of the people is realized. 2020 was a stolen count. That has been proven. My Italian friends, & I have many mostly from the Boot, we all celebrate what that bad orange man has been able to accomplish, yet Davide my friend, the true shame is in the Biden crimes as proven by SP Herr. He was found to be of too light a mentality to be put on trial yet then he did fix his Primary- (2023 with 15million primary votes!) yet the Elites have chosen to defy democracy, pushing the man out, & appointing Comrade Kamala, with ZERO votes, into place, for yet a new puppet regime. Yet what two things I would like to share with you, as Tom & had partied in the Castle at the Hopeless Valley, NJ, 1982, & that is where we met, then wrote Black Wings, for which I am very proud. Now your new female, conservative leader, who was so completely gracious when Biden went off the rails, to cover for him, and her policies, show such deep heart, I am proud of your country, & we must do such the same. Avanti lento amor, she said ya' know though, there in Nice as in Paris, all the pretty ones are actually Romanian! My hot wonder woman, the Moonflower, is Balinese-Sicilian- from Sicily, then Denpesar, she came to CA and said to me, "What is wrong with people here, there dogs walk them, & one more gives me the 'namaste' you know I will kick them to the moon!" ( She could too!) I love Italy! I love the USA! Parties have changed so the working peoples' party here is now the GOP, & I was 45 years a DNC (democrat) Like from JFK/RFK/MLK only that party left us for agendas of communism under thin veils & we are not buying any equity- as we want a peoples' President, such as Italy now has, bravo to Italy! You have one of the best countries. Please check policy and you will see, the substance is not in the wrapper, it is in the contents. I have known the Trump family thru modeling & eloquent Ivanna (awesome as Melania is too!) so being even poor at the time, they gave me a shot, when nobody else would- that is how we see who is who in the real world of these thin veils, and I thank you very very much, & return the Solidarity, with mutual blessings and many high spirits, as being such a great way to connect, beyond parties & politics, it is always about us, the people! 1/6 was a lie. Look closely at Nancy Pelosi... who did not act upon the Trump given information to have the guard... and the murder of Ashli Babbit, she was one of us, dear friend, a working wife, a soldier, a patriot, who that tainted DC pork pie cop shot for absolutely no good reason. Look then again at the dang "Summer of Love" 573 riots, burning down buildings, people were ruined & many have died... all Antifa punks and BLM, not the movement, just the con- so many good friends even Ringo went for it! Yet to love us one, is to love us all, so we care nothing about these deceptive MSM, big tech, big pharma influences! No dear friend; as it is most vital to say- all people are essential, and we do love you especially. No longer with the dems, I am independent as 60+% of us were not fooled by the Hindenburg Harris act, she lied to us so many times about the border, about her intents, about how we will establish a greater unity & strength with our EU trade partners, so it is only with Donald J Trump that we can help to stop WW3! We must! This man loves all of us, the 1st ever President to stop his revenues and refuse his pay, the 1st ever President to give us such a regal, earthy, genuine 1st Lady from being an immigrant to being so successful, Melania has an epic story all her own! And we love her more than any other 1st Lady ever!!! Please excuse my long wordy post.. yet I was deeply touched by your empathy, and if people such as you and I are free to decide our own ways, there will always be alliance! Never let that come between us, then we will make this world a much better place- & Davide- we shall!!!! It is always about the people, about us and our friends and our kith & kin, no matter we agree, we follow the facts, words must be deeds; no politics with parlor tricks allowed to divide us... & we do love this world, in tandem! Have a fantastic time for years on end, where we stop, begins the world again. Yes, even Tom, has some changes in his various opinions, as we are all of us, course correcting... we are of one world of peace at our best, let us be such. With love & hope, from this indigenous halfbreed Chief of the Weamaconk, 1/2 Ladino Gypsy, my European side, I stay connected... and the Moonflower blooms, as such she should, tango lento, tentatio mortis honore... ~RaVen DaWn~ deeply touched, & moved by your great country as well.

    Man, just love the whole message and beauty of the sentiment of treating humans like humans with decency.

    • @orlandogloom5409
      @orlandogloom5409 Год назад

      Something that'll never happen as long as humans love the behavior of treating anything (life and themselves included) like trash, and prefer dismissing and disrespecting everything just to appear superior.
      Also, I don't really have to mention how animals are seen and treated, right? That's just a good indication of the kind of elitism and cynicism and shortsightedness etc that is present in so many ppl's hearts and minds, and I see daily how much they "resist" that behavior and mentality...
      Truly normal ppl will always be a minority, I'm afraid. The ones who dare resist stupidity, immaturity, complexes and so on, and can notice and expose these (regardless of who's guilty of them; hence, welcome to objectivity and say goodbye to popularity and some main and "winning" "tribe") to truly right some wrongs, are even fewer.
      I'm pretty sure that ppl are not just stupid and guilty, they're completely crazy at this point. How else could anyone explain the solution they've been believing in lately? (trollish fascists or/and some kind of global death wish)
      Someone likes self-inflicted prophecies and dead ends, and total destruction without knowing what it is/feels like... And most lower instincts and insecurities too. And these ppl actually call others spoiled and weak and stupid, among so many other stuff. Tbh I'm starting to feel like I should be enjoying these, but I've promised I won't be part of the lunacy in any way.
      Be it cynicism or laughing at a dystopian society that could've been avoided.
      p.s. see how everyone keeps blaming each other when everyone has proven they're all the petty things, in so many instances. It's so ridiculous when they try to win some skin deep impression game as the world crumbles, and they even advertise their savior qualities. Especially fascists and the greedy, but certainly not only them. The way I see it we all need some slaps, some greater ones but no one is innocent.
      Btw, everyone sees what they wanna see and they say they are innocent whenever it's convenient, and skeptical and strong, etc whenever that's more convenient, aka usually. Well, most trolls and bullies always act quite scared and victimized for example. I've seen how brave & clever & divine (almost) everyone is... my circle included, sadly.

    Personally, I think the song is beautiful, and Tom sings it to perfection.
    The original was sung as "Alla mattina appena alzata" is an Italian folk song that goes back as far as the late 19th century, first appearing among the rice-paddy workers of Italy's Po Valley. Rice farming is hard labor, requiring workers to stand for hours on end, bent over in knee-deep water. there was a great deal of dissent - riots and uprisings were common.
    The song evolved throughout Italian history. By 1943, the lyrics had changed to reflect resistance against Mussolini's Fascist regime and their Nazi allies. Since that time, it has become a song of general dissent in Italy and around Europe.
    This song could be related to today's strife, but Waits never liked his music commercialized.
    If you look at what Cuomo, and De blasio are doing in NYC, it could be looked at as fascism, and communism.
    Some don't know what fascism was, or is.

    • @d.w.stratton4078
      @d.w.stratton4078 4 года назад +3

      Um, I promise you that neither DeBlasio nor Cuomo are Communists of any kind. They are Centrist capitalist hacks. Communism is nothing more and nothing less than a transferring of ownership of the methods of labor production from private capitalists to the workers and laborers who produce good and services. That's it. There are all kinds of flavors of Communism from authoritarian, state-heavy Sovietism and Maoism which are awful to the totally decentralized Anarcho-Communism which amounts to autonomous governing in small worker owned communes and local municipal selectboards.
      As for what fascism is, the definitive essay on the subject was written a good while back by Umberto Ecco, a survivor of Italian Fascism, and is entitled "Ur Fascism." I suggest you read it and amend the ignorance you are displaying with your childish commentary.

    Como esas florecillas silvestres que acuden a nuestros sentidos sin desfallecer, hay canciones de lucha que se resisten al desuso, es más, nos ayudan a sentirnos libres en situaciones que parecen inasumibles. Tesoro común el de tantas y tantas tonadas que por el mundo cantan la rebeldía. Ese el caso de “Bella Ciao”, que sin pretenderlo, una vez más brota para clamar el descontento ante tanta falacia y tanta insania xenófoba. Canción popular que, al parecer, surgió entre las arroceras del Valle del Po y que buenamente salta hoy frente a demagogos sin escrúpulos, que hacen del “otro” la excusa del fracaso de una opulencia ciega. Tom Waits, la hace suya y la entona en la lengua del Imperio cual himno de rebeldía. En sus labios, su interpretación suena “turbada y salvaje”, al modo de balada noctámbula que nos remite a lo más íntimo del acto insumiso. ¡Basta ya! Basta ya de tanta indecencia.

Your logic makes your comment pointless. "Google it" is about the laziest shit ever. Point remains: there certainly aren't "plenty" of protest bands. Again, if there were, we'd know it, because they'd be all over. Kinda what "plenty" means.

      @@bradfielder There you go, misusing a word again. Plenty must have a different definition in your mind. Here in the actual world it means "more than enough". As " enough" would signify that no more is needed, I'd say find a new word. There simply aren't plenty of protest musicians. So yes, the youth do need someone to teach them.

    This song is not BY Marc Ribot. It is an old Italian song. This is his version with Tom Waits singing. I wish people posting things on the internet would attribute the things they are posting truthfully and accurately.

    • @joshbates9015
      @joshbates9015 3 года назад

      1) There is nothing to indicate in the title that the poster is giving Marc Ribot sole credit for writing the song. The word "BY" isn't even in the title, it's literally just his name and the song name.
      2) Can you tell me who actually wrote it, or should we forever just include in brackets "(cover of a song written by Old Italians)"? Because to my mind, if you can't narrow down your accuracy any more than that, then it seems so general and vague as to not even be worth mentioning.
      If you think this song solely belongs to Italians, then you've missed the entire point. This song belongs to anyone who opposes fascism anywhere in the world.

    Nice version though "Che mi sento di morir'" would not be translated with "I'm not afraid anymore" but rather "Because I feel like I'm dead already/dying"

      The meaning of the phrase " Che mi sento di morir" is : " I am ready to die, because I've found the courage to face the death". So the words of this version of Tom Waits are VERY CORRECT.

    • @JacktheRah
      @JacktheRah 6 лет назад

      domenico ernesto esposito It depends on the interpretation. The literal translation would be as I mentioned.
      "Che" "that"
      "mi sento" "I feel like I am"
      "di morir" "like dead/dying"
      The English language is just not broad enough for a literal translation. It is just too simplified for a very good translation.
      Sure it does mean that he is not afraid anymore but that's not the translation. That's the interpretation and that is robbing the art from the song. It leaves no room for thinking about it.
      There are a couple of things I have to criticise but these are usually just minor things one can ignore.

    • @domenicoernestoesposito1318
      @domenicoernestoesposito1318 6 лет назад

      You have changed your criticism to the translation of the lyrics! to which my answer was addressed !! but I remind you that you had written as a translation: I FEEL I AM ALREADY DEAD !! which is very vrong! Please BE LOYAL!
      I would say that the translation of Antonio Vallini is literally correct.
      I am Italian and my father was a "Partisan" during the War World 2 and he taught me all the songs of the resistance to Nazifascism. Again I confirm that the translation and interpretation of the song sung by Tom Waits is correct!
      Bye Bye
