The Chiefs don't need, or even want, Worthy to be the next Hill. I think people are overreacting with that take. They just need him to be a better MVS. Anything they get from him above that is just a bonus. Hill is one of one. Veach and Reid are smart enough to know that. They're not trying to replace Hill with Worthy. They're replacing MVS. That's the lens that people should be looking at this draft pick through. I get he's fast. So, everyone wants to believe they're looking for the next Hill, but that's not what's going on. They need a guy who's speed scares the defense more than MVS, and Worthy definitely should. MVS was fast, but not explosive not to mention could only catch the ball if his body was facing the ball like he was receiving a low punt. Worthy is more explosive and can catch the ball in-stride without having to turn around to face it. The Chiefs won two Superbowls without Hill. They're not chasing for a Hill replacement. Literally won more Superbowls without Hill than with Hill and shut the Dolphins down in the playoffs because Sneed shutdown Hill. The Chiefs are all about diversifying offensive production now. They don't want to depend so heavily on one receiver to win.

I'm not terribly worried about the contested catches because the Chiefs don't really rely on them. They prefer to scheme the receivers open so they don't have to make a ton of contested catches. The Chiefs are probably the best possible landing spot for Worthy because of that.

To your point, bringing in Hollywood brown, and kelce and Rice all garner attention on defense for their ability to read zones…. Worthy will really allow mahomes to pick his shots. And read what defenses are trying to do, worthy opens up the underneath for routes from both brown and kelce, while also being a more explosive option than MVS stretching the field, or that’s the hope with him at least.
It’s going to make defense either rely heavily on Man, leaving opportunity for brown worthy and kelce, or force them into off coverage zone, which also provides opportunity for exceptional routes from brown and kelce specifically due to their high IQ… and I’m sure rice and worthy will begin to figure out how to read NFL zone soon enough to really make this a potent offense at all three levels .

Worthy is tied for the most YAC on short passes (under 10 yds) in the NCAA over the last 10 years with Deebo. He’s not just a vertical guy. Worthy’s production would have been better, but he was saddled with some inconsistent QBs at Texas. It’s remarkable how well he produced since his off-target number was the highest of any WR in the draft because of the QB situation. The “Worthy is down there somewhere…” joke was unfortunately not always a joke during his college career.

I did a breakdown of the UT pass catchers predraft on my channel and I saw worthy as a much more well rounded route runner than he gets credit for. He is not a perfect player of course, no prospect is but we lose sight of the fact that coming into the league Tyreek was a punt returner, he developed his craft and became an amazing player. Worthy has the potential to be good to start and could be incredible if he gets coached up and is used properly.

X will be what the Chiefs dreamed and hoped Mecole could have/should have been. He’ll have around 600 yards his rookie year adjusting to the contact and physicality. Then he’ll have around 900-1100 yards per year for the next 8 years as a mid tier WR2.

Tyreek Hill is a 1 of 1. Xavier will be closer to Hollywood or Jaylen Waddle than Tyreek as far as production goes.
I like X’s rac ability, the deceptive route running, change of speeds and deep ball tracking. I’m worried that his 4.21 speed will never show up. On tape he looks closer to 4.4 and that’s all that I’m worried about. He looks closer to the 4.5 skinny guys like Jordan Addison, Devonta Smith and Tank Dell who all weighed in at under 173lbs. Worthy is a better MVS right away in this offense IMO that’s his floor. I think he has better hands than MVS. His speed and route running ability is going to make the other chief weapons better and should help the chiefs run game be better a little bit better because of the attention Worthy’s going to draw. Plus NFL defense’s will be stressed every time he goes in motion because you have to respect Worthy’s burst, acceleration,or what ever you want to call it. I could easily see Andy Reid’ dialing up 1-2 jet sweeps or end arounds for Worthy a game.

Worthy has better hands than Hill too, his drop rate is skewed by his sophomore season when he had a broken hand. People forget how often Hill drops balls, usually top 3 in the league in drops. People overlook it because of how fast he is, but he drops a LOT of balls.

I don’t think they want him to be making contested catches. They want him and brown to stretch the field, something they have not had in two years. This will further open up the underneath for rice and kelce since they will have two formidable deep threats. The most important thing KC needs form him and and brown is ball tracking. Hardman and MVS were fast af… both were ass at ball tracking (which is something tyreek hill was elite at)

Old guy here. Really hoping the Chiefs could get a big receiver, more physical type 6’3” 220 lbs with GIANT hands. Oh well, maybe a UDFA will show up.
Anyway, I’m hoping this guy will catch some deep passes from #15, help stretch the field, open up the middle game. That really make Travis even more effective.
I think Andy Reid is going to have a field day scheming Worthy and Brown open. Between them and Rice, they are going to be “speed demons”, no pun intended!

Why compare him to Tyreek... If anybody thought Tyreek would become what he did, he wouldn't have slid that far. His game is not at all perfect and he droped a lot of balls over the years (just watch his last pass from Mahomes against the Bengals....). So yeah, Worthy is no Tyreek Hill but nobody is. But he plays strong and tough, has next level athleticism and can run routes. John Ross only had one of these traits. And by the way, he just turned 21 after the draft and was never hurt. Rice will miss only 2-4 games and get probation at the MAX. Last season he finally got around 70%+ snaps consistently starting wk 12..... he was INSTANTLY a top 5-8 WR over his next 7 games and then broke Jamar Chase's rookie WR playoff total catch record.... was a top12 rated WR. Totally agree on all of that except for how long Rice will be out. My head says it should be 4 games. My gut says the NFL always surprises us and does more than what the head thinks. If Rice gets 5-6 game suspension instead we will survive but they'll have to lean on Hollywood immediately. Doubt they'll give Worthy many looks (just off Reid's rookie track record) even with Rice out. Once Rice is back, and Hollywood and Worthy settle in...there is no stopping that offense. Kelce, Rice underneath, speedsters outside, Watson sprinkled in. Heck it's gonna make life easier on Pacheco too.
