This may literally be amongst the most beautiful things I have heard in my life. It is someone else's original composition, but the feel, dynamics and the sheer skill needed to make this is incredible. It alternates between violence and beauty. I just can't express how beautiful this is. Very few instrumentals move me to tears, this is one of them... Thank you..
I'm impressed by the use of dynamics. Not only their wide range, which seems to go from pianissimo to fortissimo, but how they are blended to create the illusion of separate background tracks playing. Mr Pietschmann, excellent work sir!
This is not only by far the best piano cover of the dark knight, this is also one of the best piano covers for any film music I have ever seen, and I have seen many. Absolutely phenomenal, I'm speechless.
To everyone wanting to play this masterpiece, I can confirm it can be done. For years I listened to this gorgeous composition wishing with everything in me to play like he does. It’s taken YEARS to learn this level of skill and even yet it’s a fraction of what Patrik has but I’m Finnaly on my way with learning it and I can’t remember the last time I was so happy. Thank you for Patrik for helping my dreams come true, and to anyone else out there wanting to play this but not sure if they can, keep trying, if I can do it, you can too.
Listening to this I realize that this really does fit the themes and messages from the dark knight. (Duh it’s the theme). But there are moments where control and uniformity are immediately follows by moments of chaos, rebellion in dissonance and key switches. It’s amazing what music can portray.
Like the typical Indian/Asian child, I was made to play piano since I was like 3-4 years old and then I stopped playing when I was like 13 or 14 to focus on school. I used to hate practising and would only do it because my parents wanted me to. After not playing for like 6 years, and after getting interested in movie and tv show soundtracks over the years, and after seeing channels like this, I'm finally inspired to start playing again, but this time, out of my own natural interest, with no pressure. I'm nowhere near the level need to play this song yet, but I'll start with something simpler until I'm ready. Thank you Patrik Pietschmann.
I don't think that a lot of people watching this realise how hard this is to play to the level that Patrik managed. Some parts are pretty obviously quite difficult but the way he manages the dynamics throughout the song, even at the more seemingly simple sections is incredible. Really impressive.
Спустя столько лет, для меня данное произведение остаётся самым лучшим на этом канале. Автор музыки создал шикарный саундтрек для фильма. Но прочувствовал эту музыку я только благодаря Патрику.
Yeah, when I listen to him I feel so in peace. By the way, did you know that the dark knight soundtrack was composed by Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard?
Okay. First of all, this is so dope! I took classical piano lessons from the age of 8 to 16 but have not touched a piano in decades. This makes me want to get a piano and take it up again. This music will be played every day for a long time to come. This arrangement and the way it is played is so close to versions you hear with whole orchestras but in some ways this TOPS the full orchestral treatment. It moves me every time I listen to it. I hear a repeated theme of conflict and resolution. The journey of Batman as he struggles to rid the City he loves of criminals. I hear perseverance in the face of the tribulation and sacrifices Bruce makes as Batman. I hear Bruce's love for his parents, grief still for their loss. I hear Bruce's longing and unrequited love for Rachel. I hear chaos and then peace. Confession: Sometimes when I listen to this piece, I let myself fan fiction- out. Martha Wayne was an avid and accomplished pianist. She loved the piano and wanting to give her son the gift of musicianship, she began teaching Bruce to play at an early age. Bruce soon learned to love the piano as well and Martha could see that her son was gifted, much like herself. Mother and Son spent many hours bonding over their love of the piano. After Bruce's parents are killed, Bruce retreats into himself in grief, internalizing the rage and the guilt he feels over his parents' death. But as a way of continuing to maintain a bond with his Mother after her death, he continues studying music. He finds that it helps with the anger and connects him to that bond he shared with his Mom. By the time he is ready to leave to attend Princeton, he has also learned to compose music as well. Flashforward to Bruce's return to Gotham after his seven years with the League of shadows. Bruce is making his plans to become Batman and gathering allies. He also covertly seeks out Rachel but sees her kiss a man she is with on the cheek and assumes she is involved with the guy. Bruce leaves without speaking to Rachel but of course he is still in love with her. Since he's still preparing to become Batman, he is not out every night patrolling yet. One night he can't sleep and he's restless. He gets out of bed wearing pajama pants with no shirt and wanders down to the study where his mother's beloved grand piano sits...waiting. He hasn't touched it since before he left Gotham. He plays a couple of notes and smiles when he discovers that Alfred has dutifully kept the piano tuned. He gets an idea that maybe certain notes on the piano could be used to trigger the hidden door leading down to the lair he is making in the caves below the manor. He makes a mental note to himself to have Alfred look into it. After hesitating for another couple of seconds, he sits down at the piano. Thinking about his parents and especially of his Mother with whom he shared this love of the piano, thinking of Rachel and what could have been between them, thinking of the journey ahead of him as he fully commits to becoming Batman knowing the trials and tribulations he will face and the loneliness and sacrifices he will have to suffer in doing so....BRUCE WAYNE COMPOSES THIS SONG. After he's written the last note, we watch Bruce (Christian Bale please) perform this beautiful masterpiece and we see everything Bruce is feeling in his eyes. Several hours later, emotionally spent but somewhat at peace with his inner rage for the moment, he goes back to bed and sleeps until 3:00 in the afternoon when Alfred wakes him up. Bruce sits up and smiles, remembering the piece of music he composed the night before. He tells Alfred he has an idea about the piano and hops out of bed...to do those fast-paced pushups!! Aaaannd scene! 😊😊

If music has an ancient root in mating calls this is one hell of a call. The movie version never sounded this good. Amazing work top class of you tube players, A hopeful epic tone that has to confront it's own madness. Perfect movie music harmony on the themes.
As I'm currently trying to learn the Dark Knight overture piano, I keep watching this over and over again. Even though the sheet music I have is arranged far less complicated, it still gives me headaches and knots up my fingers. And then when I watch this, my brain gets fried like chicken wings. I cannot believe something like that is even playable, let alone in a way that it draws you in like that. Simply mindboggling. What a masterpiece.
DanTheTwoWheeler Oh yes please! That would be so awesome! I can already play his version of Time and Interstellar and i absolutely love them. Now I'm working on Chevaliers de Sangreal but I would definitely buy a Dunkirk cover immediately
I count down the hours to new releases every other Friday, but this is still my favorite video, and maybe my favorite piano song I've ever played. Maybe one day we'll get a medley from Dark Knight Rises (especially Imagine the Fire)? Keep up the awesome work!
every time I watch this to learn a little section, I get mesmorized and watch the whole thing 5 times on a row, you knocked it out of the park on this one Patrtik. Thank you!

"I need 5 minutes" "No! We have to save Dent! I have to sent Dent! Make ready! 2 Minutes"
Just bought the sheet music! This is going to take me ages and I already feel my tendonitis flaring up just watching those arps. Well done Patrik!
never clicked so quickly on a new video. this is the good stuff. my favourite youtuber + my favourite movie
4:37 so intense..
Best discovery on RUclips for me in 2020 = Patrik Pietschmann, hands down--no pun intended. You are a musical genius and an inspiration, Patrik!
this gives me truly goosebumps - TY for this piece of music.
If music has an ancient root in mating calls this is one hell of a call. The movie version never sounded this good. Amazing work top class of you tube players, A hopeful epic tone that has to confront it's own madness. Perfect movie music harmony on the themes.
"Sometimes the truth isn’t good enough.Sometimes people deserve more.Sometimes people deserve to have their faith rewarded."
I just love these lines bruv....It had saved me from despair in my life many times...
Amazing!)
Thank you!
He looks so bad ass when he crosses his hands over each other.
I’m not gonna lie I watch this sometimes and get really emotional. This is the most beautiful thing I’ve seen in a long time...
The first minute and a half or so genuinely brings me close to tears almost every time I listen, whilst covering my body in chills
I've waited my whole life for this.
Udbhav Seth Plot twist: You are dead already!
What the hell. This is insane. So mesmerizing.
This is 12 pages of pure madness. Good job Patrik!!!

Yeah, I'm done.
I subscribed.
Unbelievably beautiful.
5:29-5:45 BEST PART
It's my favorite to
Agreed
agreed
The joker
Absolute chills that part !
The intro gives me major goosebumps.
Now he's not a monster cause he can play this.
He's just ahead of the curve.
How the hell Hans Zimmer only won Oscar one time?
What’s wrong with Oscar !!!
CUZ HE IS THE OSCAAAAAAAR
Oscar is not worthy to be Zimmer's.
And the ridicolous thing is this:in the lion king the music are presents yes but is difficult tu focalize that at the first or second vision
Because he is german, they hate them
who is oscar and why is everyone trying to win him over
This soundtrack always gives me the chills, and if this gave me the chills. It is right.
Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou sooooooo much Patrick!
Enjoyed every bit of it. By far the best piano arrangement of TDK theme.
Best piano artist I have ever seen in my life.
Can't wait for a Dunkirk piano arrangement!
I upvote this! Make it happen!
I'm pretty sure he is able to do Supermarine ;)
DanTheTwoWheeler Oh yes please! That would be so awesome!
I can already play his version of Time and Interstellar and i absolutely love them. Now I'm working on Chevaliers de Sangreal but I would definitely buy a Dunkirk cover immediately
I expected it to be better I give 7/10 no character build up and shows just soldiers stranded with barely any reasoning behind it
Lol you criticise him for thinking his opinion is the truth, then say get over it the movie was great.
I count down the hours to new releases every other Friday, but this is still my favorite video, and maybe my favorite piano song I've ever played. Maybe one day we'll get a medley from Dark Knight Rises (especially Imagine the Fire)? Keep up the awesome work!
Omg „Imagine The fire“ would be Fire
every time I watch this to learn a little section, I get mesmorized and watch the whole thing 5 times on a row, you knocked it out of the park on this one Patrtik. Thank you!
Godly fingers!
this will be your next +1M views video, well played man!
And sometimes they click dislike instead.

Hans Zimmer never fails to amaze
PluSh *Patrik never fails to amaze
Aryan J *neither fail to amaze.
Batman Begins and TDK soundtracks were composed by *Hans Zimmer AND James Newton Howard*
Dani Lovato Correct. However, the material that's being heard here was composed by Hans.
Lu-Hiep Phan no, it was composed first by James Newton Howard in the first movie of the trilogy. The theme of Batman Begins was composed by James, and you can tell is the same melody.
2:10 is so powerfull, just WOW
This Song always gives me goosebumps.
