This is literally what the phone says: "connect to itunes". Who tf would not follow the phone's instructions in that case?
Not everyone would have the presence of mind to put the phone in DFU mode, or would be even aware of it's existence.
5 or 6 years ago, by using this technique you could restore the phone and it would be fully usable

I didn't got any iphone recently (my last was an iphone 5s i have a galaxy s9 now) but as far as i remember, DFU mode looked like this, a cable plugging into an iTunes logo, and by searching "DFU Mode iphone x" and looking at the image, we get the same thing as in the video, a câble plugging into a laptop
@@DamirMaatar Yes, DFU mode is a black screen but detectable via usb connection while standard recovery mode shows an itunes icon. been doing shit like this since iOS 4, they havent really changed much.

This doesn't always work and you still have to know your passcode & iCloud. This is a perfect solution for a glitchy screen or accidentally trying the passcode too many times. This method allows you to keep your data

i remember when i had an ipod, it somehow got locked for... thousands, maybe millions of minutes? i don't even remember the exact number but damn it was a few years at least. fun times. i didn't even enter the passcode wrong, it was like that when i opened it up one day. my mom was able to figure it out though haha
I think that happens because you had left the iPod off for so long that the clock stopped so it went back to January 1st 1970 which is the default time which makes the device glitchy

does this work for iPhone 11 pro max I broke the screen, and it kept pressing numbers disabling the phone my screen repair guy said it cant be unlocked.
same thing happened to us. I am trying this on my daughter's iPhone 11. It set it to wait 8 hours to unlock. Then I put her passcode in twice. Now it's "attempting data recovery" better than we were before......fingers crossed
There's a simple way of doing that one. That's part I actually know. You hold the volume button down and the power button at the same time. You'll get a screen of slight short menu you go down to the one that says hard reboot are the reset. It's one of them I can't quite remember what it is but you know what it is when you see it anyway you click on it but you don't want to go on the one that going to just reset the whole phone but anyway what it does is it kicks everything back into normal.
If your screen cracks it will type passwords and disable your phone. then lose everything
Then google won’t let you log into your emails because of your new device. And all your things on Authenticator will be gone because you don’t have access to old device.

Oh I thought it was gonna be like “and from here you can completely change the password with no hurdles or whatever” and I’m like oh wow how to get into a stolen iPhone 101, but thankfully no, it would still take such a stupid long time to go through all 10,000 (as long as their password is only four digits) combinations that it’s still not worth it,
No there are programs that can go through all the combinations of a 4 digit passcode in a milisecond.
@@Ryzot I dunno about a millisecond, that’s definitely not true, I can’t give a true estimated time on how long it would take, but It would take a while for a password cracking program to through 10,000 combinations. I’m also not sure how exactly iPhone password crackers go at it, if there’s maybe a way to get around the phone locking itself after too many failed attempts, but if not, there’s also that to contend with, which would make cracking the password a lot more difficult than if you didn’t have to deal with that.
@@nikotheneko839 10,000 is not a big number. I major in cybersecurity and we talk about password cracking methods for actual passwords that have infinite possibilities. When working with passwords, they use different methods. But for a 4 digit pin number, bruteforce could easily do this in a second.
@@nikotheneko839 only 10,000 combinations.. that really is nothing. i don't think you understand how fast computers can process data. When it comes to actual passwords with lower case and caps, symbols and numbers, different lengths, thats when it takes time and when bruteforce becomes impossible. Then it's common to use rainbow table or to stop trying to guess the password and just retrieve it with a man in the middle attack or a keylogger

So you buy a phone and it gets stolen and there is no lockout feature and they some how guess the code well they have access to credit card info all personal data messages social media’s.

When the iPhone 3GS first came out it used to be so simple. If the iPhone was disabled from trying to put the password multiple times then all you had to do was connect it to your laptop and “factory reset” it and the phone was like new…. Of course because of theft they made it alot harder and I wouldn’t be surprised if this way doesn’t work

Its not a way of "bypassing" it, the phone literally told you to use itunes, and you did and it worked, the iphone literally tells you how to fix it

About a decade ago I had an iPad and something happened to it and it ended up saying something like "try again in 7,000,000 minutes." Needless to say it's still locked.
