    Thank you. I was able to do it through the factory access hole and not touch the 8mm bolts. Small tip: a tanto style knife blade works to spin the straight blade retainer so long as you have the wheels turned as shown in video. Spray a little WD in there to help reduce friction on the plastic fasteners

    I was told you had to take the whole front bumper off to get to the headlights😳 glad I cam across this video. The funny thing is that I actually changed my fogs from removing that cover inside the fender but didn't think twice about potentially being able to do that for the headlamps😅

    I watched another video from a different company. They compromised the dust/moisture cover by drilling a hole in it (applied a grommet) for the LED Headlights Heatsink Fans to blow the heat out of the housing.
    Do your headlights not generate as much heat, or was the drilling not necessary? With a lot of night driving, I rather not have them overheat and need replacing.

    Question so for 2019 jeep cherpkee trailhawk is it the same

  • @jeremymajor

    Hello good evening, I know this is an older thread. Led bulbs are new for me to install on my 2016 jeep Cherokee. I have installed led headlights and received a ( low beam out ) message. I did order a set of decoding resistors, my question and concern is if I tucked all the wires then put back the dust cover like in the video, will the resistor get hot enough to burn/ melt anything inside the housing or the plastic inside the dust cover? Thank you and I appreciate any assistance you can provide.

    • @Rod_Zomby
      @Rod_Zomby Месяц назад

      *Bumping this post for answer from Precision.
      I have a 2015 Trailhawk running Sylvania LEDs. I get low beam error intermittently. I plugged in a cheap 9012 Amazon resistor and it seems to have fixed the issue, but it gets insanely hot and I have nowhere to mount it safely.
      If Precision can confirm the capacitor runs cool enough to stuff inside the housing (like the video said) and not melt anything...I will gladly purchase a full system.

    • @Rod_Zomby
      @Rod_Zomby Месяц назад

      Update: bought capacitors from Precision and installed paired with Sylvania LEDs. This solves my warning light with little to no heat. I was comfortable stuffing the units inside the headlight housing with dust covers on. (Drilled the dust covers for ventilation, just for piece of mind)

    You don't need to remove the liner! Just turn the wheel and turn the plastic nut left on the square dust covers for the headlight and fog lights. You only need a flat screwdriver or use a dime! Then turn the covers either direction out of your way. You'll have access without removing any screws.

    I fucked up and bought hids. Installation wasn't easy and now a bulb is out. I have a 2016 altitude I may try the premiums since the plug and play is there. Soooo...was the capacitor not necessary with the model in the install to work properly? That WAS NOT ADDRESSED in the video and would be very helpful to know with these fussy electrical systems such as these. Also, why the 9012 instead of 9005 that is the standard for these vehicles? I HOPE MY QUESTIONS ARE ANSWERED IN DETAIL LIKE THE OTHER COMMENTS APPEAR 2 HAVE BEEN

    • @PrecisionLED
      @PrecisionLED  4 года назад

      Hi! If you have a 2016 then you will most likely need the 9005s. Check the description box below the video, there are two different bulb options based on the car year. This particular vehicle did not need a capacitor but we have worked with vehicles that do need it, so if you purchase your LEDs and have issues we can send you a free set. If you have any other specific questions and would like a quick response we recommend you contact our support team at help@precisionled.com!

      @@PrecisionLED thanks for responding! My vehicle came with 9005 halogens but I upgraded to 9012 HIDS. I'm assuming the 9012 lens would work fine as well. Do u know of any reason why they wouldn't? Lastly, the output said 3500 lux I believe. Was that high or low beam? The output rating was from the vid on premium vs standard. • @PrecisionLED
      @PrecisionLED  4 года назад

    @PrecisionLED I have read that the capacitors can get very hot and shouldn't be placed inside the headlight housing. Rather it should get mounted to a metal area outside of the housing so as to dissipate heat. That requires drilling a hole in the dust cover for the canbus wire. Is this true?

    • @PrecisionLED
      @PrecisionLED  3 года назад +1

      In most cases a resistor generates a lot of heat and should not be placed inside of a headlight housing. A capacitor, specifically the ones that PrecisionLED uses in this video, are sealed waterproof units that do not overheat.
