I saw The NeverEnding Story when very young, at a cinema in 1984 - one of my most cherished childhood memories. My father and I traveled for an hour by train just to see it (something we never usually did), making the day even more special and memorable. Artax was devastating. Falcor was exhilarating. I emerged from the dark cinema, feeling like I had been running from the bullies, running from "The Nothing", lost in the bookstore, and in the book, and in Fantasia itself... The theme song has sent shivers down my spine ever since (even with Limahl's poodle hairdo!). Immediately after the movie that day, we visited a toy/hobby shop and I still have the tiny toy car Dad bought me from that store. All those things are now lost - the cinema is gone, the old trains are gone, the toy shop is gone, and even my Dad has passed away. But I still have the little car (in my toy room), and the clear memories of that day. It's a film that carries a wistful sense of the passing of time. Which lends itself to the nostalgia we feel, for the film itself. I actually felt nostalgia for the story almost from the moment I walked out of the theatre. There was something intoxicating about the whole experience. A quintessential fantasy, but also relatable to our everyday desires to escape awful or scary things around us. The whole experience of seeing it so young, was a major moment in me becoming a toy collector. Laura, you've even got me buying film toys now :D But such a tragedy there wasn't a better line available in 1984 for TNES. Love your channel, energy and knowledge. And recently gave you a shout-out on my blog, where I sometimes ramble about toy collecting as a hobby (not just R/C cars). A tip: When you don't fully build a Kallax or Expedit, so you have larger open spaces/boxes like you have here in this video; still use the "leftover" shelves as extra support on the sides. It really helps. Just slide them in to the sides, add some wood glue. Yes, it will look slightly weird as the shelf now looks thicker. Even slicing them, or removing 75% and having one in the middle in the back of the now large box helps a lot. And when you have open spaces like you have here, you need to use the mounts and fasten the bookshelf to the wall. Many have not done this and one day it folds.
That shirt is flippin awesome, I’m a huge fan of Tombstone, and you’re correct, Val Kilmer should’ve won an award for his portrayal of Doc Holiday! Love your Chan Chan .

Love the backlighting for the cubed bookcase Laura- good stuff! I've been looking for ideas on making my figure display a bit more distinctive and your backlighting idea is solid (the red lighting looks perfect). Love the Pokemon shelf (especially those gold cards), but also really digging the great white shark down on the bookshelf level. Very cool.
My favorite cube is the street shark cubes! Then again I’ll pick anything that has street sharks in it. And congrats on the newest member of the family! You’re gonna be that awesome aunt who would bring the best toys during Christmas.

If I had to choose a favorite, I’d probably choose the Pokémon-alien case, it really popped. Also, definitely go with the pink/mauve lighting, I think it accentuates the shelves. I was a little kid in the 70's so I like Charlie Brown, sorry. Next that large middle shelf was the best, because that Jaws game is AWESOME! I actually remember the commercial for the Jaws game. Finally I love the blue color, I am always partial to blue lights. When I was a little kid and my dad would drag me to Sears I would look at toys and go to see the fish. I loved the black light making the exotic fish glow in the dark. As you know black lights are more blue than black.
Late to the party here, but I think the green really pops, and my favourite square is the Motaro/Godzilla one. Another great vid, and good to see you back! 😁

Favorite Cube would be the JP Dino Eggs and cereal, just remember seeing them in stores as a kid and kicking myself for not making more of an effort to get them. And the green lighting really does work well, granted so does the pink too and it ties into the color scheme of the T.rex Unicorn in the intro as well. Either one works perfectly though! Personally I would love to see a video breaking down your top 10 JP toys or items, or a street sharks one as well since those don't get enough love anymore it seems lol!
