- Today we are taking a look at the complete set of Lord of the Rings toys from Burger King in 2001. Lord of the Rings is one of my favorite franchises in general but these toys I feel were super unique and I love how they display when all put together. What are some of your favorite fast food promos/toys?
Celeborn is actually pronounced ‘Kel-eborn’ with a hard ‘k’ sound ...I didn’t know that lol I didn’t even want him in the set!! 😂😂😂😂

McDonalds Batman Forever glasses, still my fav to this day
I was gonna comment this, but instead I'll thumbs this up so as not to repeat a comment.
Love those! Still need Two-Face.
Looks like great minds truly think alike
I guess I walked into “that one”, well played.
Same
Back in the day the original Star Wars drinking glass.
I had all the ROTJ glasses. That was an excellent promo.
I had the Empire Strikes Back and The Return of the Jedi glasses from Burger King. Plus, Indiana Jones Temple of Doom glasses.
They were separate from the happy meals. My parents wouldn’t buy them 😂
My family bought a case of them & gave them away as birthday party favors. Most of those survived that I kept for over 20+ years. I was heartbroken when 1 boke during my last move. I have so many fond memories of them (even using them) & I'm trying to build back the set.
@@andrewgrant2990 No worries, you can easily find them on Ebay.
Sam is clearly frying up some "po-tay-toes"
Poor Sean Bean, he dies in almost every film he's featured in, even Laura's vids *Watches as Boromir figure is sent flying* XD
I think one of the most appropriate movies he was in was 'Black Death'. It was so bad I couldnt finish watching it, but its the bubonic plague with Sean Bean. Unless hes a wizard, I'm pretty sure he died in it.
At least he kind of survived the Silent Hill movies. Hope I'm not the only fan of those here
If it helps,he survived in the martian & when Saturday comes! 😁🚀⚽️
Also pretty sure he lives in jupiter ascending too
For England James?
You know, every time I hear that choir music I almost expect the GrayStillPlays intro. "Alright, so we're back with the only game that..." 😀
Man that Arwen does not do Liv Tyler justice!😂 (thankfully we have one Eleven baddie in this video!)
Looks more like, Janeane Garofalo from half baked.
Perhaps they didn't have the rights to the actor's likenesses?
Answer, all the simpsons tree house of horror BK promotions, they ruled
McDonald's did a Inspector Gadget promo where they released 6 different toys that were body parts that connected together to form a 12 inch Inspector Gadget figure. It was the coolest! My dad bought 3 kids meals and 6 mcflurries just to get all 6. He was a champ. Favorite toy ever!
Mc Donalds had the cool Batman Forever movie glass cups. And Burger King had The Simpsons Tree house of Horror figures.
When I was little I friggin loved the Muppet Babies Toys from McDonald's. They each came with their own vehicle. I never did get all of them but the ones my sister and I had were fun to play with.
We had a really cool goomba from when Mario 3 came out from McDonald's that used a suction cup to do a backflip.
Now your talking! I have a video about all of these McDonalds toys in my Nintendo oddities series!
My favorite was Burger King’s Simpsons Treehouse of Horror figures.
They did it three times, all times epic.
Mcdonald's Muppet Babies or those transforming McDonald's figures were my favorite.
Changeables
The Beast Wars figures were pretty good, too.
LotR! The Elrond face was pretty well done. 🧝🏼♂️
That is a well-engineered display setup. I've never heard of this toy set. Wicked!
That is the luckiest necklace in the history of neck jewelery!
I obsessively collected all of these at the time, still have them, but I have a really simple answer as to why this set didn't include Gollum and the Balrog, and it's just that those characters were kept under extreme wraps until the film released, there was high secrecy on their designs so they were left out of marketing and product until after the films were out for a bit. Even the Toybiz initial Gollum figures for Two Towers features images of him on the box with his back turned to you the buyer just to try and maintain the secrecy for as long as possible.
Good to know, very cool. Thanks!
All time favorite: Rugrats Reptarland from Burger King. Each toy featured a different character on a different ride and when you attached them all they became a fully functioning amusement park.
One promotion I like at fast food restaurants is when you ask for a milkshake and the damn milkshake machine isn’t supposedly “broke”
TreeHouse of Horror Simpsons from BK were awesome.
The happy meal Muppet Babies and the Noid toys from Dominos were my favorite.
I thrifted a Noid plush and a Baby Miss Piggy at the same store recently.
In 1990, Burger King had vinyl dolls of The Simpsons family for purchase!! As a kid I remember only having Bart, but recently I purchased the whole family!! I love this set, and I would never get rid of them. :)
McDonald's came out with the Power Rangers: The movie toys around 1995, and my mom would call up all the McDonald's around us using the good ol phone book and ask which kids meal toy they had and that week we had McDonald's just about every night.
😄😄
They had two sets, one accessories, one with zords/figures.Great set.
Burger King did the Universal Monsters, that was cool, and when Wendy's did the Furskin Bears
I was in my 20’s and bought a kids meal so I could Frankenstein
I had the glow in the dark Frankenstein!
I got the Universal Wolfman one recently. Not really a fast food toy collector but I'll make an exception for a few things.
I still have Dracula !!!
The creature from the black lagoon was my favorite toy
The Goosebumps toys were very great and memorable. The transforming McDonalds food items were awesome too!
I had the 80s burger king thunder cat's toy's
That sounds awesome, I don't remember those.
Burger king started making toys in 1990 not the 90s bro
burger king had a Superman toy with a real fabric cape...his arms went up when you pushed a button...he was beautiful😍😍😍
I have a submarine from the Disney movie 'Atlantis: The Lost Empire'. It has an air operated mechanism that causes it to lift up, revealing a hold with a smaller submarine inside, which is then fired out. It is a brilliant bit of toy engineering. I also have a Dracula in a coffin, who pops out like Graf Orlok in the 1922 movie 'Nosferatu', when you press a button on the coffin. I don't eat fast food, but was given both of these by friends who thought it was the sort of weird shit I liked. They were correct.
We all know you got the McDonalds Teenie Beenies hidden back there!
The 100 yrs of Disney at McDonald’s were so nostalgic for me as a kid. My mind was blown you could collect 100 different toys for just 1 set to collect. It was especially hard to find them all since they were all blind bags.
I was lucky enough to have a mother in law who had a “contact” at McDonalds that was able to get us one of each character as they were coming out. She was even able to acquire the massive banner that hung in the restaurant that showcased all the figures. Of course they were for my 5 year old daughter and not for me. My daughter use to love to unroll the huge banner on the floor and place each figure on its picture on the banner.....great memories.
This is the first time I am seeing these toys. They are a very creative set
I loved when McDonald's had Mini Lego sets when I was a kid. They only had like 10 pieces but I loved anything Lego.
You just reminded me that I think some0ne did a cool bionicle release with mini bionicles
by the way the mini bionicle sets were called tuhunga or in later years matoran
The lego sets in McDonald's are:
Lego Motion
Lego Classic (McDonaldland)
Lego Bionicle
Lego Galidor
Lego Sports
Lego Racers
Everything's going to be ok, You made the right choice Elf Queen lol.
When I was a kid (mid-90s) the local McDonald's renovated their entire building adding a drive through and a play place. They also expanded the dine-in restaurant section and installed a huge multi-sectioned displace case with complete Happy Meal toy sets from the past. There must've been 100 or so. It was epic. I don't know how many times I forced my parents to go inside when I'm sure they would've much rather went through the drive through.
Muppet Babies and changables from McDonalds are the ones I remember most, as usual my childhood ones were thrown out so I had to turn to ebay to get them again.
Haha the ear falling off was gold! 😂😂😂 I also loved the Disney hand puppets for the movie Dinosaur. As a kid I looked for the Carnotaurus hand puppet and finally got it!
I have the 4 light-up LotR goblets, and I still regularly use a Disney Mickey Mouse glass from the early 2000's. I don't let anyone else touch it. I also probably still have a bunch of 90's fast food toys in my parent's attic somewhere.
I remember going back to McDonald’s over and over again as a kid until I had all the different plastic happy meal dragons from how to train your dragon, they were actually pretty big and well made
I was so excited to see you cover these Burger King toys!!!! Your video was so much more thorough than mine on this set! lol (My channel is mainly LOTR collectible related) ...That mail away figure is definitely a bucket list item! I agree it would have been cool to see more bad guys in the diorama set, such as a ringwraith.
1980's McDonald's McNugget Buddies, Flintstone Kids and Fraggle Rock!
Fortunately fast food is not on my radar but your channel is. If it wasn't for Laura Lefends I would have never known about this Burger King promotion for Lord Of the Rings... very Cool, and good for you for opening!
I was in the middle of trashing this and mid-sentence "but if you have them all it's a F miracle! It's INCREDIBLEEEE!!!" came out of my mouth.
Hey Laura this is sledgemaster. Love ur show. Thanks for keeping ur show clean and no cussing for the youth in church. Were all collectors. Hope u and ur family is ok. You look even so beautiful in the ears and jewelry like a fairly princess
Arwen looks like Seinfeld.
ahahahahhaha
That's messed up 😂😂
Memorable promos for me while growing up were Pizza Hut Land Before Time hand puppets, McDonald's transforming foods, McDonald's Jurassic Park cups, and Burger King TMNT VHS tapes.
HA! I felt your pain opening the packages. It really is collector hell 😄
Wow I totally forgot about these(maybe because I was 4 in '01😅😂), but these were awesome!! Always loved the golden Pokemon cards, The Dogs from McDonald's, and the Dragon Ball Z figures from BK!🤘🤘
Way back in 1977, a now defunct burger chain called Burger Chef sold a series of drinking glasses from the original Star Wars, along with some collectable posters as well. Man I wish I held on to those...
The Burger King Hercules toys were by far my most played with kids meal toys ever. They were mini action figures, that had cases that were monsters like the hydra. These were so good that I didn't even bother with the ACTUAL action figures. At no other point did a kids meal satisfy my desire for a representation of characters from a movie or show.
I remember having a few Beanie Baby and Polly Pocket type McDonald's toys as a kid! Recently, I love the little toys they put out for Avengers: Endgame and the second line that they put out this past October, I have Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, and Scarlet Witch!
"Hello Everyone & Welcome-Uhhhl!!" LOL!!
Burger Chef & Burger King for Star Wars in 1977. BK had the drinking glasses (I think sold for 35¢)' while Burger Chef had the posters. Same artwork as the drinking glasses but in poster size. Then in 1980 Burger King had the now classic Empire Strikes Back drinking glass collection. What most people don't remember is there was a scratch ticket promo for Empire where you could win an exclusive set of TESB trading cards (set of 12).
The Warner Brothers cartoon characters dressed up as members of the Justice League from Mc Donald’s were cool.
Had the whole collection and my Taz-Flash is floating around somewhere here in my house.
Oh I CLEARLY remember being 21yo and ordering BK Big Kids Meals to get those and saying "Imma big boy".
Omg I forgot about the Beetlejuice ones! Loved those and the Muppet Babies ones, with Kermit on the red skateboard.
We had Mr. Men cups with McDonald happymeals here in England. My daughters loved them. We were the 3 musketeers on a quest for Mr. Men cups. It was the cutest thing.
Wow! 😲 You know what? I think that you might have found you a new look! Some of the early Batman cups /toys were pretty cool looking. This was a very interesting segment to watch. Your LOTR collection looks as amazing as you do! Your knowledge of these types of toy lines is impressive and amazing. I hope that you do more of these videos in the near future. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and insights. Your videos always cheer me up and destress my life. And I thank you for it. Have an amazing weekend and as always, stay safe and lovely and legendary. ❤️🌹😎
McDonalds had these award trophies based on The Simpsons, and each had it's own working sound byte. My brother had the Nelson one with his signature "Ha Ha" voice line, and we keep it working to this day.
The Burger King Lord of the Rings glass goblet set. I collected all 4. Still have them boxed and to this day have never ever used them to drink anything!
I remember when McDonalds gave disposable cameras in kids meals, I thought that was the coolest thing ever. Also the Xbox 360 video games at Burger King like Sneak King was pretty unique. Also loved the Looney Tunes/DC crossover figures at McDonalds where Bugs had a removable Superman suit and Daff a Batman one.
So many memories. That's why I love this channel. Happy Meal toys I remember are the Batman cars and Batman Forever glasses. Also Mulan, Dragon Ball silver and gold figures, Pokemon toys and Digimon cards from Taco Bell. Also Power Rangers.
LOL you crack me up laura when you dropped something lol
that’s exactly what i am like
I always love when they gave away glasses. Back in the day my father drove me two towns away to go to a Burger Chef glasses of King Kong. I was only able to get two at the time but have been able to get all four.
Hey Laura fun fact McDonald's is the largest distributor of toys in the world, one year they distributed over one billion toys world wide.
The Narnia Toys from McDonald’s in 2005 were so cool. They came with mini dioramas that combined together to form a mini playset from every scene in the movie.
So I never wear a watch except when I went to trade shows. I would often wear a fast food watch. My favourite was my Rugrats BK watch.
My boss - who collects Rolexes etc - like at my wrist and was like what is that?!? My reply was “Banana Scratch & Sniff” with a stupid grin. He just shock his head and walked away.
😄😄😂
For some reason the Dairy Queen Garfield doing sports toys have always been something I look back on with fond nostalgia. I think they came out sometime around 2000 if I had to guess.
As a Transformers guy, I loved the Changeables from McDonald's. In fact, after Hasbro's Botbots came out and my kids and I began collecting those, I was inspired to look for all the Changeables I never got via eBay. I always preferred the robot versions over the dinosaur versions; it wasn't because of not liking dinosaurs or anything, but rather the addition of another theme felt like one too many at the time.
Also reminds me in sixth grade our class had to make castles. mine was the most interactive, I had a JP III battle scarred T-rez in the court yard and that burger king Gandolf served at the entrance of my castle. My teacher adored that.
Loved the Rescue Rangers toys as a kid... Also muppet babies. . .
"I don't want you here guy"
"I dont want you here either buddeh"
Don't call me buddeh, friend.
Years ago there was (in the UK) the McD's Disneyland set, Mickey Mask, Ears and Gloves, more recently there was the amazing Pokeball Disc launcher with a random Pokemon Card. Collected the full set (I was working for MCD's) but gave them to a friend for her children. It was so good because the disc had a dial to select Square, triangle, circle and basically play rock, paper, scissors. Really wish I got a set for myself and I regret leaving just as the Scoob toys came out.
12:08. "I can't put my finger on it." Ah, but your finger *is* on it.
Gosh...had to rack the brain because as you mentioned there has been so many awesome “fast food” toys over the years. I think I’ve settled on the Batman crystal cups and/or the classic Disney cups for nostalgia
My favorite kids toys at the Universal monsters that came out at Burger King Halloween 1997.
Same theme, I love love love the Burger King Simpsons treehouse of horror figures back in the early 2000's.. I use them as Halloween decorations every year to this day.
Me too!!!😃🎈
Alf puppets from Burger King. They came out in the late 80s and I got 3 out of the 4. Besides the McDonalds boats and trains happy meals, those were the promotional items I remember the most from my youth.
Loved Taco bell's Godzilla movie toys cup holder.
I do to
That was the first time I ate Taco Bell. The godzilla egg was cool.
The Avengers Endgame McDonald’s Toys were pretty cool. They were basically Pops yet had nice detail and featured every character including Quantum Suit variations.
Gimli should have said "Nobody tosses a dwarf"
My fave was the Spy Kids one where if you got all of them, you build their little bug buddy
Collect all 19! Eat more Burger King! Gain not only a Ring Of Power, but dangerously high cholesterol, too!
Great, thanks my fav was M.I.B neural neutralizer from B.K.
when the 1995 Power Rangers movie came out McDonalds had Power Ranger action figures (with zords) as happy meal toys... probably the highest quality toy they ever did.. and 9 year old me badly wanted all of them.
Those look great together. My den includes a display of the Green Lantern cartoon toys and several Simpsons figures from Burger King. As a kid, the family collected the Garfield glasses from McDonald's.
Hilarious ! You drop figures left and right. I give them a shelf life of one hour. I do like your Elf ears and outfit. Very cool !
I remember McDonald's Happy Meals had mini figures of characters from Batman The Animated Series, around 1993 or so. I had the Batman, Batgirl, and Catwoman figures. They were fairly nice for fast food toys. I also remember toys that looked like food items that could transform into different things, and another set that were basically chicken nuggets in Halloween costumes, haha
exactly what i love about this channel. Laura allways comes up with (for Europeans like myself in this case) totally obscure stuff. i really enjoy that . And Laura , You are without a doubt one of the most funny Fem Tubers i ever seen! love it !
Honestly the more toy collectibles are opened, the happier financial collectors are happy. You get to enjoy your toy, and the "serious" collectors see their unopened items increase in value that little bit more. Win/win.
I remember the McDonald's Boo Buckets they'd give out for Halloween, which were cool because you could use them when you went trick-or-treating. And yes, their Halloween McNugget Buddies, the Muppet Babies toys, and various Batman lines were also big. They had toy cars and collector cups for Batman Returns, which really set off some parents because the movie was quite dark and morbid, and moms freaked out that McDonald's was marketing the movie to kids with Happy Meal toys. Taco Bell had Star Wars toys when the Special Editions were released in theaters, leading to when The Phantom Menace came out a couple years later and they had Star Wars toys spread out across Taco Bell, KFC, and Pizza Hut because they're all owned by the same company. I think there were over 20 different toys in total, along with their own set of collector cups.
Burger King had a men in black promo, but it was for the animated series. It had this really cool Frank the pug head bobber. I kept it in my car bit unfortunately he was lost in a car fire. You inspired me to hunt for a new one.
EBay has them for $5.00+s&h ...& 1 for$12.00 +s&h hope you get the one you are looking for sorry about the trouble you had. Good luck dude. Frank's waiting for you to get him.👽🐕 let me how how it turned out ok.
Shout out for singing the Hook soundtrack while playing with LOTR toys.
I remember either McDonalds or Burger King had a Yugioh promotion where they gave out this tiny CD with a Yugioh game on it. You could play online against people it was a magical thing.
Weird... my whole life, even as a child, I don’t ever remember getting meals that had Toys came with them...
But, Very cool and informative vid!! The LOTR pizza pie display was a cool idea
Burger King’s Universal Monsters Kid’s Meal is probably my favorite, but I think I had the most fun collecting all the Star Wars figures they did at Burger King during the two promotions they ran for Revenge of the Sith.
Oh man, back in the mid-late 80s, McDs had some kind of Train Set happy meal. I remember begging my mom to take me like every day.
Those are rad! Seem to remember McDonalds did a full run of Disney action figures, and they came packed in a small VHS case from same movie. Those seemed cool(now in hindsight).
Neat set. Cool outfit. Honestly when I think back at all the promotions or special kids meals toys that I'd gotten as a lad, I'd have to say my favorite was the Mc Donald's Attack Pack Hot Wheels promotion. The monster trucks and jets and space ships that you pushed a button or pulled a lever and they turned into monsters with claws and teeth! The Mc Donald's ones weren't as intricate or didn't have as much moving parts as the regular ones, and were smaller, but they were still great fun.
Thats a really great set,I don’t remember many of the fast food toys from back then clicking together. 🍔🤴🧙🏻♂️🧝🏻♀️
I can remember as a kid , back in the late 80's Pizza Hut had these "Back To The Future ' sunglasses as a promo . I never did get the complete set.....
Got 3.
The LBT Pizza Hut puppets.
Oliver and Company McD Xmas ornaments.
My fav... the McD Muppets xmas plushes. I took my Fozzie with me on my first tour in 2004.
The Batman and Robin drinking classes from McDonald’s, and the Spider-Man animated series they did. Both from the 90s
I've never heard of this set! Pretty cool!
80s McDonalds toys were my thing! I have Muppet Babies, some Disney glasses, Garfield, Super Mario, Fraggle Rock!
Those mario toys were great!
