I believe Kat will overcome getting sick,Once she feel safe and comfortable being out on the ocean. As you probably noticed it was not even rolling waves and the boat was moving much to cause motion sickness.I admire Kat for going and making the best of being sick.Kat if you can relax and get to feeling safe on the boat I believe your sea sickness will eventually go away.I have been sea sick so I know it’s awful 😳Enjoying you adventures and videos 😎

Poor Cat❤ looks like y’all had a nice hike. Looking forward to watching your trip south. Be safe, keep Cat hydrated, feed her plain carbs…plain pasta, plain bagel & baguette. Gatorade has 2 really good products, GatorFit & GatorLyte are super hydrating.

I am a delivery skipper with 200,000 miles of sailing since the 80's. I still get seasick for the first couple of days. I use an over the counter anti-histamine called Phenergan. It's very effective, but like Dramamine can leave you drowsy, so I take it with a caffeine pill, or a very strong coffee. I use 10mg for myself, a largish man, every 6 hrs. It has the least side effects for me and I have been using it for 20 plus years now.

Hey, 5 to 6 kn on the water is good speed.Glad that Kat seems to be feeling better. She’s such a welcome addition to your boat.
Just wondering if you have a whisker pole you can use on your headsail when you’re going downwind. I have one and I use the spinnaker up haul to keep it in position and it keeps the headsail from flogging around.
Sounds like you’re working the onshore and offshore breezes properly. I learned how to do that on my first Baja race in 2003 and it sure made a difference in speed.
Looking forward to the next video. Been following this series.

Yep! For the most part, we regularly averaged 5 kts + on most days down the coast to The Gulf of California. Having a freshly painted hull sure helped!
Ah, yes, the whisker pole. We made the big mistake of not having one for the down. As you'll see in coming episodes, there were many days on the west coast leg that we really needed a pole. We will be sure to find one before we head back offshore in spring 2024!
We're glad you're enjoying the videos and appreciate your comments!

I do a ton of flying in small planes and traveling in big boats and take meds. The two I use are the patch and Bonine. Both are less drowsy than “non-drowsy Dramamine. Dramamine just knocks everyone out.The patch is strongest for cutting out the sickness, and lasts 3 days, but the first day is a bit drowsy and drys out your throat (grab some Ricola). I recommend it for multi-day trips and swelly conditions. If it’s just a day flight or boat ride, I’ll take one Bonine, which is the least drowsy and no strong side effects, but two pills can make you a bit drowsy and give you a headache like the hangover from Dramamine. Based on your strong sea sickness, I’d try the patch. You can just use it for 1 day if you need. I also heard that anxiety, hunger, and cold (I.e. other discomforts) can compound sea sickness, so make sure to take care of your physical and mental wellbeing. Hope this helps. Cheers!

Thanks for the great advice! Sounds like you have heaps of experiences and have found a good system to deal with motion sickness during travels. We'll check out Bonine. In the newest episode, Kat uses the patch with great success: ruclips.net/video/9yrzYwEYDhs/видео.html
