Most foreigners are always referring about neighbourhoods, but you must call it "Freguesias" instead, before 2012 in Lisbon they were 53 and now 24. The reduction of costs was huge with this administrative procedure. For example, "Lapa" you can call it a neighbourhood, but it is not a "Freguesia" anymore, since 2012 belongs to "Estrela".
Very nice neighborhood! I walked from Alfama to Estrela on a beautiful, sunny day last November, yes Joen, November, and three was a young woman playing the guitar and singing Fado in the garden. One of my favorite memories of my trip. Love these neighborhood videos! Thanks, guys!
I rented an airbnb in Santos and it was amazing. I loved the neighborhood and restaurants. Coming from Brooklyn, it really had a cool vibe of old and new, lots of creative people from all over and a lot of streets with no cars. The architecture was really nice and lots of creative shops for design.
Lisbon has some beautiful parks, you just don't know them all. I was so lucky to have spent my childhood between Jardim do Príncipe Real, São Pedro de Alcântara, Jardim da Estrela, Parque Eduardo VII & Jardim de Benfica. I was so lucky... The best childhood..
Just to clarify - Freguesias are administrative subdivisions of the city and are not the same as neighbourhoods. Principe Real, for example, is a neighbourhood in the Freguesia da Misericórdia, as is Bairro Alto, Santa Catarina, Bica or Cais Sodré. If you know London, Freguesias are similar to Boroughs. Notting Hill, for example, is a neighbourhood in the Royal Borough of Kensigton and Chelsea. So your video was about the Freguesia da Estrela (and all its different areas/neighbourhoods like Santos, Janelas Verdes, Lapa etc.), not just the neighbourhood of Estrela, which is only the area around the Basilica and the garden.
Thank you these is a nice video, I am Brazilian/Portuguese and I lived in Estrela long time ago, I missed Lisbon a lot. Now I am living in London. I thinking to come back to live in Lisbon. You guys do a good job in show the Lisbon Neighbourhood in English.
Portuguese people hate them: find out how this Danish couple makes a living from simply eating portuguese food! You're living the dream! I'm portuguese and I've been watching your vlogs to help me decide where to go next. Make more videos outside of Lisbon!
I lived in estrela since i was born, for 28 years! One of the most relaxed and beautiful neighbours in lisbon! I used to live right in front of loco restaurant 😉 This year i moved to Campo de Ourique!
Loved this video. I wish I could move there. Love homes that have the high ceilings and large windows. Would there be any chance that you can do videos on Setúbal and the areas around there. I want to move back to Portugal, but want to have a place of my own and Setúbal looks like it is a lot more affordable than Lisbon . . . pretty please
Estrella ambience , the relatively quiet neighborhood of Lisbon, charming houses , parks including yummy vegetarian fare, not BS, “I object” like Reese Witherspoon says in Legally Blonde. Great vlog!
I just move to Campo de Ourique (a neighborhood of Estrela) and I think you would love it too! And you can run in the Tapada das Necessidades park, without running in circles 😝
Not very far from Jardim da Estrela, you find a very nice cemetery, in Campo de Ourique. It could be considered a tourist attraction. It is nice and peaceful place.
I would often walk through Estrela on my way home to Campo do Orique from hanging out in the downtown or Santos. One summer morning, must have been 4 or 5 am, I was walking past the Basílica da Estrela, on the way back from Bairo Alto. I remember passing by I had to stop and sit down at the tram stop as it just looked so amzingly bright and beautiful with the early morning light hitting the dome against the hazy blue sky. You'll find many moments like that in Lisbon.
Jardim da Estrela was my play garden . Once again you are playing Zeca Afonso his songs and poems says lot about life of the Portuguese people 50 years ago.
Thank you both for posting great videos, binge watching is helping me research Portugal and all the amazing places that you visit. MID MOD? I will be researching this too. thanks again for all your entertaining and informative videos. 👍🏻🙏🏻
You do have many gardens in Lisbon: Quinta das Conchas, Parque Eduardo VII, Jardim Botânico Tropical, Jardim Botânico do Principe Real, Parque do Monteiro Mor, Jardim da Estrela, Jardim da Gulbenkian, Jardim do Torel, Jardim Botânico da Ajuda, Jardim do Campo Grande, Mata de Alvalade, Monsanto, Parque Urbano do Vale do Silêncio and many others!
Hey guys. Loved your work so far, it's lovely too see how much your channel grew. You might wanna consider visiting the Berlenga islands, it's a little more than an hour away from Lisbon and I believe you would get a lot of great content out of it. Cheers
Nordic men and their pints 😅 My Finnish husband is the same, doesn’t understand the concept of small beers. In Brazil drinking warm beer is not an option. Then again, we have 1L bottles of beer, which are meant for sharing. Sharing beer: another unknown concept in the nordics 😁
You must visit these Hidden gardens, which deserve a visit 1. Tropical Botanical Garden (Jardim Botânico Tropical) Tv. Ferreiros a Belém 41, Lisboa 2. Botanical Garden of Lisbon (Jardim Botânico de Lisboa) R. da Escola Politécnica 56 58, Lisbon (near Principe Real Garden) 3. Estufa Fria Parque Eduardo VII, 1070-051 Lisboa 4. Garden of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (Jardim da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian) Av. de Berna 45, Lisboa
Beautiful vlog, we appreciate your honesty.. “this is rabbit food”:)). Also, the mini bottles are kind of worthless - we didn’t quite understand so thanks for telling us the reason behind it.
Alfama is still one of the most famous neighborhoods in Lisbon but it's part of freguesia de Santa Maria Maior/São Vicente ;) That's why you don't find it on the map you showed! Maybe others with more details will show all those smallest but more historical neighborhoods.
Ty for this... I'm stuck in California, was supposed to take my madre to lisbon September. Then move there in a year. These vids keep me going in lockdown. Greatly appreciated and entertaining. Btw, what version of the song are you playing in background? You guys are awesome
I can relate. We were supposed to spend a month in Portugal in June 2020 but Covid put an end to that. We are seriously thinking of having a 2nd home in Portugal. All my family is from the Azores (grandparents and before). Now I’m am thinking of Madeira- is there a downside?

This is my favorite channel on youtube. Super Bock forever 🥴👍 You can also say like that, you hear a lot in the north and it's very funny "Obrigadinho por este bocadinho" 😂
The parliament area is really I believe lapa. Lapa and Estrela are almost the same, but lapa is more expensive and it has more swimming pools anywhere in Lisbon. Very bourgeois. Muito burges.
Hi guys! Amazing video :) I was also in love with your puppy video and I was wondering if you could give a bit more info how you got the toy poodle from Spain? How the process was etc.
And I thought I knew a little of Algarve. Now I know I now nothing have to go back for sure ! Thanks for all the info ! Two cool people ! Love you guys !!
U must return to Basilica Da Estrela too see the nativity crib of the 16TH century inside, is huge and amazing, ang go to Scaramento á lapa street to see the house of Visconde de Sacavem, cover with old crokery
That seems like such a nice area, too bad about the airplanes. Counting down the days until next March when I shall be coming to Portugal. Loving all your videos..........🤗🇨🇦
Thanks for mentioning how much the rents are, and especially the airplanes!! That would be disastrous while in a virtual meeting! Great videos; you guys are too cute!

Hi, would you consider doing another video of the current living expenses now that you are in Ajuda? 😊
Estrela is my favorite place to live in Lisbon. I' ve stayed there, near the church, when I studied at the university. It's a quite place ti live.👍
I would often walk through Estrela on my way home to Campo do Orique from hanging out in the downtown or Santos. My grandmother use to live there and in the estrela garden use to have peacocks free for us to feed
You can still find peacocks in jardim da estrela.
Great vibes! 🙌 By far some of the best cinematography & sound tracks I've watched on Lisbon/Portugal! Loving the Lisbon neighborhood tours/glimpses 💯
Jardim da Estrela was my play garden .
Once again you are playing Zeca Afonso his songs and poems says lot about life of the Portuguese people 50 years ago.
