I hope they drop some more powerful hardware in 2023, but I feel it’s a little unlikely from the standpoint that the OLED and regular Switch is still selling VERY well and we’re still seeing the effects of the chip shortage. A next gen also feels unlikely next year because Nintendo said they wanted an extended life cycle, the switch is doing really well (much better than Wii U) and loads of games are still going through times cycles like Splatoon with its 2 year splatfest cycles and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still coming out with DLC until the end of next year. So from that stand point it would feel weird to release a new generation next year or even the year after, unless these games are backwards compatible from the go. But, it would be great to see more powerful hardware as Nintendo’s developers, Platinum and Monolith soft are really pushing the Switch’s base hardware to the absolute maximum every time they make a game and it’d be amazing to see what they could do with some more powerful hardware for sure.
They need to release next gen switch because of steamdeck. Not only steamdeck offer portability and better graphic, it can run nintendo switch game via emulator.
@@randomcommenter3726 I doubt they’re too worried about Steamdeck to be honest since it’s so much more expensive? I’m perfectly happy with the switch and honestly if they just wanna keep doing minor upgrades with it over the years that in my opinion would be their best move
I ordered a switch for christmas 2022, and Amazon misdelivered the switch to our elderly neighbor Mac, who has dementia. I looked for it and asked if they received it, and his wife said no, so we assumed it was taken by a thief. I called Amazon, and they apologized for delivering it at the wrong address and sent me another one. A few days after I got the new one, his wife came knocking on our door, apologizing, saying that Mac had taken the box inside and left it in the laundry room 🤣😂. Now I have a switch, and my fiance has a switch!
Woulda seen if neighbor could use it. Nintendo Switch revitalized my dad who was doing poor in health.... mom says it made him like a kid again, unlocking a new passion of life and helped him be happier in his final days.
Nintendo sales jumped because you can't buy a PS5 to save your life and people are sick of waiting. Only reason I'm watching this video is because I'm tired of waiting for Amazon/GameStop to say I'm off a waitlist for the PS5 so I'm looking at one of these to tide me over. Fact. Also, not buying it for exclusives. Buying it for kids mostly and something new...I don't care about their exclusives.
Considering the Switch is still selling really well, I don't expect them to make a new, more powerful console yet... give it 2 years or more and then I expect it as the switch's lack of processing power becomes dealbreaking. The switch is still getting many games, and many people aren't ready to move on. The switch has been nintendo's most successful console ever (going by units sold and player retention), and its not slowing down yet.
they are just going to mitigate it from being a hybrid system to fully label it as a hand held only system with the functionality to connect to a tv. 3ds had a 9 year life span and the switch will see the same lifespan if not more. rather unfortunate as cool as the switches gimmick concept is, the performance is just freaking horrendous even back in 2017 immediately sold it after having it for 2 weeks. the 20-30fps was awful and the hand held body position only promotes bad posture and even further scoliosis
They could make a clamshell Switch like console with dual screens that docks. That’s about the size of a Chromebook. Same joy con layout and separate pro controllers. Switch DS.
Sure it may not be as impressive as current consoles at times but i still love my switch oled, im looking forward to next nintendo console when it comes out. Im hoping, they keep the portability and make it where play in handheld mode and docked.
I hope not... going for portability is suicide... the tech cannot keep up with tablets and smartphones developement rate year after year. if they don't adapt and push for a more console based system they will inevitably fall.
@@Old-Boy_BEbop they might retain some of the key elements of the previous switch. Like docking on a TV and had physical games and can be portable but a little bit bulky so other hardware stuffs can be implement to able to run native AAA ports with demanding graphics, But the I'm a little bit certain that the next console will have no backwards compatibility. Yah know, Nintendo doing Nintendo things.
PC gamer here. I bout an Oled two months ago and it’s worth every penny. I thought I would get bored after two weeks but I’m really enjoying it and will continue to do so. Nintendo has no idea what he’s talking about. We still got at least 3 more years of the Switch.
Phew! I just bought an OLED switch and nearly had a mini heart attack thinking I’ve just wasted nearly £500 (1 game, 256gb memory card, console and 5 year insurance). However basically all you’re saying is that it’s getting dated and a newer console maybe coming out this year. I’ve been playing PS3 for the past couple of years after my PS4 basically bricked itself so I couldn’t give a rats about it being a up to date model. As long as I can play Borderlands 2 and TPS, some platform games, and maybe a couple of RPGs then I’m happy. Just unboxing it now, so as long as it’s only the fact that the console is a little dated, then it’s not really such an issue.
@Jan Czekala - honestly I think it’s a great buy. I ended up getting a second hand pro controller as the joycons are great for puzzle games but for first person/third person games they feel a bit too clunky. It plays games really nicely, and the resolution on a TV is as good as you can expect from a small console. Battery life too is brilliant, I get about 8-10 hours off one charge which for flashy first person shooters is more than enough. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
I get that a switch 2 or something is gonna come out soon, but a lot of people don’t care about that. Some people just wanna play the switch for its games and for how innovative it is.
@@Non-Legit It might not be innovative, but it certainly is convenient, and that's what I like about it. The games are great too, and it's not like the graphics are even that far behind from the series s,x and ps5. The switch's graphics are much equivilant to the ps4 and xbox one, so I don't think there is an issue with it.
While I agree that a new nintendo console is about to drop in a year or two, you can still go buy a oled just for the higher quality screen. If anything you can always sell it and make back the profit because retro consoles keep their value
Garbage advice and clickbait title. The ecosystem of new games for the switch is very alive, you're advising to not buy it, but instead to wait an unknown amount of time for the next switch, which wasn't even announced yet. The lifecycle of the Switch might even be 10 years considering its success, however, no one knows yet when the next will be on sale. Dude, life is short, many don't want to wait potentially years to play some games. And even then, when the new model comes out, it takes time for the good games to also come out. The rest of your points are equally garbage, Not buying it because Switch's processor is "getting old" is fairly ridiculous. Nintendo has never competed based on hardware specs, that's not how they so things.
Yet, the sales of the Switch skyrocket. I love my Switch. When my kids hog the tv, which is quite a lot, out comes the Switch OLED. The first party catalogue alone is one reason to buy the Switch. And with a few new upcoming first party games, you will be set. Not to mention it can play quite a few games like Skyrim, Witcher 3, No Man's Sky, Ark (updated version), Snowrunners etc etc, you all get the point.
My guy probably hasn’t even had his switch for a year by the advice he’s giving. The Nintendo Switch is still extremely popular and fun, which is surprising suggesting that it’s been out for six years now. They are releasing amazing games by the minute, and this is just terrible advice.
Thank god the Steamdeck exists, because if it didn't they'd probably continue selling the switch for another 5 years lol. More realistically, I have seen videos where someone at Nintendo was talking about why the Wii and Wii U failed. Basically sales rise and rise through years 1-5 and peak, then fall off a cliff after ~6 years. This pattern repeats and it happened with the Wii, so if they aren't ready (like what happened with the Wii) they will be open to be pummeled by a competitor or just lose a ton of sales. I think they expect this timeline to extend this time because of the impact of Covid.
He telling us not to buy an OLED while holding one in his hand. Its October '23 at the end of the year. You were wrong about a new Nintendo '23. You wrong for telling people dont by an OLED. Let it go bro. The new Red Mario edition of the OLED just drop. I bought it. You off bro i forgive you. Stop talking bad about one of the greatest consoles of all time.
I don't agree Nintendo switch console is doing great 6 years later in sales and performance (some areas aren't top notch tho) there is no reason for Nintendo to waste time and money to release a new one since most people will probably not upgrade their old Nintendo unless it breaks since switch pro will be basically the same console
The switch has an incredible library, so even if you come late to the game, it can still be worthwhile. Yes the switch successor will have better visuals, but I don't think it will be as much of a leap as people think. Also, Nintendo has stated before that the switch will have a longer than normal lifetime, and they also canceled the switch pro due to component shortages and cost which are still recovering from the covid pandemic. Currently, Nintendo has stated they expect an INCREASE in sales this year over last, and have upped production. We have also heard there seem to be no major titles hitting after Zelda TOFTK this summer, and Mario Kart DLC continues through the end of 2023. It's likely then that Nintendo will rely on switch sales through holiday 2023, and possibly one extra year. The switch successor probably won't release until spring 2024 at the earliest or spring 2025 if they push it. The only exception is if they pull a fast one and release the new system for holiday 2023, but that seems very unlikely because there have been no hardware or devkit rumors/leaks. I have one other prediction: Their increase in switch production likely means they plan on using current hardware in some form in conjunction with the switch successor, a la Wii U. It sounds like a terrible move but they always want to do something out of left field (despite that their best success came from iterating on the gameboy and ds lines). My biggest hope is that they don't screw this up. We don't need a huge gimmick, give us a switch 2 that's the same basic idea but more powerful, better visuals, and backwards compatible. God, please let it be so! Hopefully whatever gimmick they put on the switch two won't prevent those points from being there. Last thought: maybe they will have a dedicated home console and the switch will live on as a dedicated portable - so there'd be 3 versions of any game: portable, portable on tv, and home console. Guess we'll have to wait to find out. If you read this far, what do you think?
honestly they should add games from ps5 to the switch such as gta, tekken, and much more. the choices are getting boring without any fun games on the market anymore
I have a PC which I play big, beautiful games on, but I just want to sit in bed and play some simple puzzle games to pass time. I don’t have anything so going to get the OLED, also to play with friends, my girlfriend etc, don’t know why it’s getting so much hate

Why does he think if I waited 6 years to buy this console, I’m gonna go buy the new new? I just bought my Switch 2 months ago and it’s been awesome. If your like me, there’s a huge catalog of games never played.
It's like saying in 2019 that it isn't worth buying a 3ds or 2ds... It doesn't matter! It matters on the Games you wanna play. Games and Consoles can probably always being bought on amazon, ebay, etc... Just saying that Consoles are not worth to be bought makes non sense.
I don‘t agree at all. If you don’t have a Switch, now is a perfect time to get one. You can find good discounts everywhere and you get a console with a huge AAA library. The Switch successor won’t be around before later in 2024 and even then it’s likely that the Switch will still be supported because Nintendo recently stated that the Switch has only reached half its lifespan.
There is zero indication that Nintendo's releasing a Switch 2 or Pro this year. Especially now that we've seen the leaked (and very likely real) Tears of the Kingdom OLED edition. There's no way they would release that alongside a Switch 2. Also, Nintendo doesn't just drop a console once they've announced one, so whenever that announcement comes you can expect it to come out quite a bit later. Wouldn't you rather be gaming during all this time? Especially Tears of the Kingdom? If you want a Switch OLED go ahead and buy one. If the Switch 2 suddenly drops out of nowhere, just sell your OLED towards it.
Thinking of getting it for my birthday❤ i have had a portable gaming system in ages. I’m really excited for the oled, to bring back some childhood memories
Like, I didn't rush to get a ps5 either. This is consumer mass hysteria and why? Do you HAVE to have a console on the day it drops, you know, when it has absolutely zero library? Got my OLED for Christmas and absolutely living it. Like I see where you coming from bro but at the same time, this is just advice based on fomo and straight up consumerism. The oled, like almost any console will hold up well a few years after the upgraded model drops (look at ps4 and 5). There is no stress and there is no reason to wait JUST so you can spend even more money on a switch whatever
RUclipsrs been saying this same video for 3 years. The Switch has the charm and all the first party Nintendo content you could ever need. We don’t need another steamdeck! If you don’t have a switch and have been thinking about all the Mario, Zelda, etc… games you’ve been missing, then pick one up and enjoy it!
I disagree with this video. Picked one up for 300$ and it was well worth my money. I genuinely love this console and this is coming from someone who has a PC, PS5 and Series X.
I’ve had the switch light for about 3 years or so and I’m just now looking at getting a standard switch… is the OLED worth it or should I save my money? Lol
I would say if you are going to get a Switch in 2023, get a special edition (pokemon, zelda...) that way it won't go down in value as much as a regular Switch. If they drop a new generation this/next year you can still sell it for a good price and get the new one.
Completely disagree. The regular switch feels like a $25 dollar tablet with joycons attached. The oled is a premium feel and how it should have initially released. Nintendo is still selling games at a premium… they’re in no rush to push a new platform
Seems like you didn’t do much research before uploading this video. There’s not going to be any new hardware for 2023 it was confirmed about 5 or 6 days ago. There’s also plenty of leaks on what the new console is going to have as far as specs. There’s a few RUclipsrs already making videos about it.
Hi so I am getting mine in June I am not really into video games and I just want to play like mario kart smash bros and spatoon should I wait or get the oled 😅😅
what I’m concerned about waiting for the new Nintendo console is that you won’t be able to play the switch games on it,i hope that they let us play the switch games on the new console.

I doubt they will release a next gen system in 2023 in 2024 most likely because Zelda tears on the kingdom is coming out this year and there was a OLED switch system leaked
It’s just crazy to me everyone is so sure Nintendo is gonna drop a Switch 2 when they never made a GameCube 2, DS 2 or an N-65 lmao. They already told the stock holders there is no plan for a switch 2. The thing that is so cool about Nintendo is we have no idea what the next console will be or do. They always think out of the box.
Technically the WIIU is a console refresh.... Just like the switch led. Think about it... The switch led is the one they SHOULD have made in the beginning.... See? But they didn't have the money to do so at the time. Let me try this example.... The ps4 came out.... Then Sony brings out the ps4 PRO, a significantly (or slightly) more powerful version.... They all needed the jumping off point the get where they're going. Or they could have said "ya know we can make anything we want to and these idiots will buy it!" Take your pick.
Sorry, but no. I thought so as well that Nintendo was bound to release a brand new version of the Switch somewhere soon, but after the reveal and launch of the Tears of the Kingdom OLED I'm doubting those thoughts. Tears of the Kingdom is probably the most hyped and wanted Nintendo game ever made, so I'd say they would've announced a brand new upgraded Switch had they planned one for this year. Now I feel that it might be somewhere between late 2024, maybe even mid 2025
Honestly there is a decent chance that a new Switch will not be backwards compatible. So getting a Switch in 2023 isn't that bad. There are a lot of good games for it and if need be, you can trade it in or sell it for the next console.
Switch 2 gimmick predictions: 1. Plausible: Nothing new. Just faster processor, larger screen, no joycon drift, and better battery life 2. Not likely: Haptic feedback gloves (sold separately). You can now feel the steering wheel, the sword hilt, the bowstring, etc.. I'm thinking this because of Link in BotW/TotK, every time he uses one of his runes, he moves his hands.

Nintendo would probably just release a new switch with a beefier processor. If they go that route, they need to be less confusing with naming it for marketing reasons. A big part of why the WiiU failed was because the naming and marketing was terrible. If it's the next gen console, they need to name it in a way that makes it clear that games released on their next gen console will not work on current gen consoles.
If you do the tiniest amount of internet “research” you will see that the president of Nintendo stated LAST YEAR, that the switch was only halfway through its lifecycle. This was last February . Switch was released March 2017. Ever since it came out they have stated that they do not want this to be a 6 year console, and they have not strayed from that stance. Therefore the Switch’s 10 year lifespan ends in 2027, 4 years from now. The switch Pro was scrapped and instead we got the switch OLED at the halfway point of the lifecycle. So it is actually the perfect time to buy the OLED.
The president of Nintendo has stated that the company doesn't have any plans to release a successor to the Switch or any other hardware before March 31, 2024. updated 9. maj 2023
I have awful luck with buying consoles. I bought a Wii U, and then the Switch came out, same thing happened with the PS4 and the PS5. I'll just wait, because although I desperately want to upgrade my Switch, I just don't want two consoles from the same generation.

2024 and still no new niintendo switch ?? i marked your word. but the marker i marked it with faded away
Now I have a switch, and my fiance has a switch!
woww
Woulda seen if neighbor could use it. Nintendo Switch revitalized my dad who was doing poor in health.... mom says it made him like a kid again, unlocking a new passion of life and helped him be happier in his final days.
I hope you reported it and asked if you can send the extra one back. Otherwise it’s extremely immoral.

Nintendo always drops weak hardware on their systems. Don't expect much of a upgrade when they release a next gen device.
Never let them know your next move: Buys it in 2024
I have OG Switch, Lite and OLED that I bought couple months ago, totally worth it still. Don't listen this fool.
They won’t released something that’s not broken and sales still at record high
imagine they bring the 3ds back
I hope so
I hope, the DS was the best handheld ever next to the GBA Sp
4ds?!
I´m about to order mine... had a similar shock as you xD
@@sammylpt9076 thanks alot, I can´t wait.
I played a lot recently on my friends switch (old version) and just loved it.
I get that a switch 2 or something is gonna come out soon, but a lot of people don’t care about that. Some people just wanna play the switch for its games and for how innovative it is.
It’s 6 years old bro, the innovation is over
@@Non-Legit It might not be innovative, but it certainly is convenient, and that's what I like about it.
I just got my OLED this morning January 13, 2023 😥
The next generation switch should be called the Super Nintendo Switch. No brainer imo.
6 Years and its still $400+... thats the problem. The hardware is closer to 7 or 8 years old
Yet, the sales of the Switch skyrocket.
Didn’t the head of XBox just come out and say they can’t keep up with Nintendo?
They might release a new switch. But it will take 2 to 3 years before most people can actually buy one.
Oh man. I would return it and wait for the new Switch next year.
How much did you get it for??

They already said they ant dropping a new one u need to start paying attention to nintendo we may bet on in 2024
I don‘t agree at all.
I got one for $150 looking brand new and sold my grey old one for $185 so I’m happy 🤷🏻♂️
Thinking of getting it for my birthday❤ i have had a portable gaming system in ages. I’m really excited for the oled, to bring back some childhood memories
Do it! This video does not consider people who don't own any handheld yet. Why wait for a new one, if now is the time you want to play some games.
NINTENDO WONT DROP A NEW SWITCH IN 2023. So if you find a used OLED for like 150 usd or so, then go for it.
Lol
Buy the oled. But if a new switch comes this year, wait for it.
I would personally like just a home console from them . Along side a hybrid ( like the switch ) for the existing user base .
Nintendo already announced they aren’t working on a switch pro, but instead are focusing on their next gen console
Seems like you didn’t do much research before uploading this video. There’s not going to be any new hardware for 2023 it was confirmed about 5 or 6 days ago.
Or they could have said "ya know we can make anything we want to and these idiots will buy it!"
Take your pick.
Dont buy in 2023!? Just ordered my first switch (oled) yesterday... oh my... should i put it in the trash? Because its old?
the switch has sold so many consoles. i feel like they are in no rush to develop anything new. sigh.
Honestly there is a decent chance that a new Switch will not be backwards compatible. So getting a Switch in 2023 isn't that bad. There are a lot of good games for it and if need be, you can trade it in or sell it for the next console.
They ain’t coming out with a new switch any time soon lol
Theres no other signs on the internet besides this video that nintendo has any hardware planned for 2023
Switch 2 gimmick predictions:
1. Plausible: Nothing new. Just faster processor, larger screen, no joycon drift, and better battery life
2. Not likely: Haptic feedback gloves (sold separately). You can now feel the steering wheel, the sword hilt, the bowstring, etc..
I'm thinking this because of Link in BotW/TotK, every time he uses one of his runes, he moves his hands.
I was thinking of something like a 5G successor or one with augmented reality with a built in camera.

They should just name it “switch 4k” simple
They should just call it the Super Switch, or the Switch 2.

Theres not gonna be a new switch in 2023 it looks like
If you do the tiniest amount of internet “research” you will see that the president of Nintendo stated LAST YEAR, that the switch was only halfway through its lifecycle.
