I have 2 of the okuma longitude rods both 12 feet rated 3-8oz one is 8-9 years old actually meant to be used with a conventional reel, yet i use it with a penn fierce spinning reel which is wrong yet havent had any issues bringing in jacks of about 7kg+ from the surf, without any issues. Ordered another one (spinning didnt make a mistake this time) during covid with a penn battle 2 both reels are 8000 and i use 40lb braid and use 6-8oz grapple sinkers cos in lagos nigeria the surf is rough but had no issues with either and i use at times a whole mullet or some chunks of big mackerel, besides shrimps or squid baits. I personally love the rods can heave big fish from the surf no problem, if one of my buddies has one after he saw me using it he has had his a couple of years plus no issues likewise... Lucky me i guess or unlucky you🤷
Jason C. here with an update! Still no contact from Okuma. I also looked at the Amazon comments on these rods and there are scores of folks with the exact same issue!
I bought my 12’ longitude about 13 years ago(when they first released I believe) it has been tried and try since. I have heard that since they became very popular they began mass producing them and that is where their quality began to fall.
Thats unfortunate. I have a 12ft casting rod had it for 4 years now and only problem I have is I cant separate it back into a 2 piece. I caught some nice bull reds on it still waiting for the day it snaps
Major rod production error. If your sticking to tight budget Ugly stick works great. If you want a beautiful surf rod that will last Phenix rods from California (Black diamond) rates 5 out of 5 and will pass on to the kids no problems

Wrap an ice pack around the joint. Let it get good and cold and you should be able to separate it
Thanks! Okuma is off my list. It's gonna hurt the wallet a bit, but I am going with Tica.
LOL that can happen to an IBM product too it means one was defective and he prolly cracked it and did not know
Bummer bro was planning to buy one
You high-pointed that rod at one point.
Hola , alguien podría ayudarme con que medida de anillas lleva esta vara ,tengo la de 12ft
Just bought a 10' for Columbia River fishing from the bank. Rod info says 3-8oz. We'll see. think I'll register for my warranty today!
