imo S - West Side Story, The Fabelmans, Drive My Car A - Killers of the Flower Moon, Avatar 2, The Zone of Interest, Oppenheimer, Judas & the Black Messiah, Barbie B - Minari, Anatomy of a Fall, TAR, Sound of Metal, Licorice Pizza, American Fiction, The Holdovers, Top Gun: Maverick C - The Banshees of Inisherin, The Power of the Dog, Women Talking, Nomadland, Dune, Poor Things, Maestro, Mank D - Past Lives (sawry), Elvis, CODA, King Richard, The Father, Nightmare Alley, Belfast E - Everything Everywhere All At Once (sorry), Triangle of Sadness, Trial of Chicago 7, All Quiet on the Western Front F - Promising Young Woman, Don't Look Up
Solid tier ranking. You should have followed your instincts and put Top Gun Maverick in S tier. However, my main quibble and the whole reason I’m commenting is like almost everyone your tier ranking is incomplete. You can do it while you figure out which tier or at the end, but you also need to rank within each tier. Drives me nuts when people don’t complete the ranking. Other than that, I enjoy your videos so keep up the good work.
Only five I would change would be: Belfast (F -> C), Judas (C -> A), Tár (B -> A), Fabelmans (C -> B) and Elvis (D -> F). Everything else I mostly agreed with
For me, Don't Look Up and Fabelmens are an "A." Dune and Killers of the Flower Moon are an "S." And I totally agree about Barbie's placement and Ryan Gosling's performance. Cheers!
I honestly think that had Nomadland not won the year before, The Power of the Dog would have won that year. They’re both female directed, three hour long character studies. And since the Academy had already awarded a similar film previously, they decided to get behind the feel good CODA. I’m not a fan of either film, but if I’m being honest, The Power of the Dog is the superior film compared to Nomadland.
Belfast is a pretty crappy Best Picture nominee but a clinically insane Best Sound nominee. Like y’all seriously thought the sound work in that was more notable than tick, tick…BOOM! and A Quiet Place: Part 2?
Maturing is realizing The Zone of Interest IS rewatchable because it gives you a huge aesthetic emotional experience even with its difficult subject matter. Maverick is fun tho.
Every frame of that movie is S tier. With Zone and Under the Skin, Glazer made not just movies but sensorial experiences that you can immerse yourself in multiple times and always be riveted. Incredible director
The movie is nice to look at, but after the first viewing there's nothing interesting to come back to. It's just hammering down the same point for 1 hour and 45 minutes. The movie is so short and yet it still suffers from its length because it doesn't have anything else to say, at least the ending was interesting.
I respect your opinion obviously but Judas in C tier makes absolutely no sense. Definition of an S or A tier movie. That movie had me in tiers by the end
Here's my List (In order) (Did it based how much they deserved to win Best Picture) (Ex: D Tier aren’t films I dislike, they are just average films that would have been terrible Best Picture winners and shouldn’t have been nominated) S Tier: Zone of Interest, TAR, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Past Lives, Anatomy of a Fall A Tier: Oppenheimer, Sound of Metal, Mank, Dune, Women Talking, The Father, Barbie, Drive My Car, Poor Things, Banshees of Inisherin B Tier: American Fiction, Nomadland, Power of the Dog, Killers of the Flower Moon, Minari, Holdovers, Trial of the Chicago 7, Triangle of Sadness C Tier: All Quiet on the Western Front, Top Gun: Maverick, Judas & the Black Messiah, Promising Young Woman, The Fabelmans, West Side Story, Avatar: The Way of Water D Tier: Maestro, Nightmare Alley, Licorice Pizza, CODA, Don't Look Up F Tier: King Richard, Belfast, Elvis
I think Tar is too low for my taste. Elvis is too high. Put that down below F. I’d also probably move Past Lives and Barbie to A. Otherwise it’s a solid list!
38. *Women Talking* (D-tier, I’m sorry but the film was nothing more than way too many overly dramatic monologues for me) 37. *Mank* 36. *Maestro* 35. *Promising Young Woman* (C-tier from here on) 34. *Don’t Look Up* 33. *Nightmare Alley* 32. *Coda* 31. *The Trial of the Chicago 7* 30. *King Richard* 29. *Nomadland* 28. *American Fiction* 27. *The Power of the Dog* 26. *Sound of Metal* (B-tier from here on) 25. *Licorice Pizza* 24. *Judas and the Black Messiah* 23. *All Quiet On the Western Front* 22. *Belfast* 21. *Tar* 20. *Elvis* 19. *Anatomy of a Fall* 18. *Dune* 17. *The Fabelmans* 16. *The Zone of Interest* (A-tier from here on) 15. *Drive My Car* 14. *Minari* 13. *Top Gun: Maverick* 12. *Avatar: The Way of Water* 11. *Poor Things* 10. *The Holdovers* 9. *Triangle of Sadness* 8. *The Banshees of Inisherin* 7. *The Father* 6. *Killers of the Flower Moon* 5. *Barbie* (I hope this placing proves I DON’T hate women… I guess I just hate em’ talking) 4. *Past Lives* (S-tier from here on) 3. *Dune pt. 2* 2. *Oppenheimer* 1. *Everything Everywhere All At Once*

Dune Part 1 is still also S tier. Barbie, im not a hater but it's a B/C for me. That A tier lineup is bomb. And I gotta finish Minari now. And thanks for not hating Avatar 2, rightfully an A tier. Very rewatchable even though it's long. EDIT: Finished Minari, goddamn, those feels. I love when you just cant stop thinking about a movie. Im putting it in a very strong A.
"Judas" was my favorite film that year. Seeing it in C-tier absolutely ruined my day.
Legitimately forgot Belfast exists
Such a good movie
Lucky you
True...however I'll always remember the scene where the little kid looked at the camera and said: "DUDE! This is Belfast!"
While Scavenger legitimately forgot about Belfast and Kenneth Branagh's Oscar, they certainly haven't forgotten about him.
You must be English then
Everything everywhere barbie S tier as it should be
Zone of Interest in B is diabolical behavior
Right right .. but putting Top Gun in A?!
@@fernandolainez2108I know! Top Gun deserves S tier let’s be honest.
Poor Things and Zone of Interest under Avatar 2 end me😭😭😭
yeah, it should be C
Easily an A.
dare you to revisit this in like 3 years to see if it holds up
Judas in C-tier smh my head
Drive My Car is so underrated. Its up their with Oppy as one of the decades best films
From the movies I've seen this would be my list:
S - Tár, Past Lives, Killers of the Flower Moon
A - Minari, Anatomy of a Fall, Dune, Licorice Pizza
B - The Power of the Dog, Sound of Metal, The Father
C - Everything Everywhere All At Once, Barbie, Mank, Don't Look Up, Triangle of Sadness
D - Promising Young Woman
The father would genuinely be in D-tier for me, Linsanity ahh movie
imo
S - West Side Story, The Fabelmans, Drive My Car
A - Killers of the Flower Moon, Avatar 2, The Zone of Interest, Oppenheimer, Judas & the Black Messiah, Barbie
B - Minari, Anatomy of a Fall, TAR, Sound of Metal, Licorice Pizza, American Fiction, The Holdovers, Top Gun: Maverick
C - The Banshees of Inisherin, The Power of the Dog, Women Talking, Nomadland, Dune, Poor Things, Maestro, Mank
D - Past Lives (sawry), Elvis, CODA, King Richard, The Father, Nightmare Alley, Belfast
E - Everything Everywhere All At Once (sorry), Triangle of Sadness, Trial of Chicago 7, All Quiet on the Western Front
F - Promising Young Woman, Don't Look Up
The Power of the Dog is S tier status!
Putting Avatar above Poor Things… hurt
perfect s tier. i wouldn’t change it whatsoever (except for maybe oppenheimer, but that’s a high a)

Do yourself a favor. Move Banshees up to S. That film is perfection.
I just wanna say this is such a cool idea for a video and I think about this a lot so thanks for making this!

CODA below Nomadland is
“pure insanity” as Emma Stone would put it.
We all know Nyad is S Tier
😂😂😂😂 he really hate Annette Benning nominations
Getting together with the bros for some beer and a Belfast/Nyad double feature
It took me 7 watches of Maverick to realise it’s definitely a 5 star movie
Great Vid, it proves that Belfast hasn’t age very well in recent years.
Tar and Banshees are S tier, fight me
As someone who legitimately wanted Elvis to win everything, seeing this video pop up had me sweating ngl 😂
_Elvis_ should’ve won Best Makeup & Hairstyling and/or Costume Design.

Barbie in S Tier ? I love it!
I bet he would put NYAD at S+ if it nominated for best picture lol
Dune not being place in S tier is a crime against humanity
Its really not S tier worthy, decent but not that good
Maturing is realizing The Zone of Interest IS rewatchable because it gives you a huge aesthetic emotional experience even with its difficult subject matter. Maverick is fun tho.
I thought it was visually pretty flat
Agreed, Zone legit is something you can rewatch plenty of times and experience different emotions each time because it's just that damn amazing
