@@scottanderson2617 At the top of the back swing you will feel most of the weight in the trail leg yes. We still want to shift weight to the lead leg early in the down swing though
The thing which Andy does so well that I have struggled with all my golfing life is, moving from the top of the backswing to the finish of the follow through, in one flowing motion. Andy looks as though it is effortless and just "collecting" the ball on the way. To me, achieving this seamless motion is one of the things that I would find the most valuable. Any tips please? Your lessons are so clear and simple to follow that I think you might provide the key! Thanks for all your content. I have the app but have been injured so not tried it yet.
This is a power packed lesson with 3 of the best tips and drills that can actually make the swing repeatable, consistent and, more importantly, comfortable / instinctive. Thanks much 🙏🏽👍🏽
Honestly tip 3 is one of the biggest wow moments I’ve ever had watching golf videos. I’ve always struggled with the concept of releasing and couldn’t understand how to do it correctly. Showing the difference between flipping and releasing as you did has made it so simple and clear on what I need to do now. Really exciting! Presumably this works the same for irons too? Thank you!
Outstanding, Andy. And really well explained - both the what and why. These tips are coming at the perfect time for me, and appear so much more doable for my skill level. My overarching mission these days is to stay in posture and balance, and these tips fit nicely into that. Balance is something you and Piers stress so much. Thank you!
Thanks for this amazing video! You guys are breaking down what I think are complicated moves, to an easy to understand and to follow teaching! Do you have an one-on-one iron video like this? Thank you both for your awesome, easy to follow videos and sharing them with us!
Never thought of pointing the butt of the club toward the target, I always just thought of pointing my belt buckle toward the target. 10:49 more than likely is the culprit to the dreaded chicken wing. Can't wait to try some dry swings and test it out! Thanks Andy!
Without a doubt rotation, I neglect the trail leg and hadn't considered straightening it up. Although I am guilty of doing all 3 depending on the round.. thanks guys !
Another great video Andy, thank you. Very well explained, in simple steps. I'm ok with the first two steps, the turn on the backswing, etc, but I'm not sure I release it properly, even though I usually hit it straight or with a draw. Perhaps I do? Please keep up the great content.
Have been working on this for years after watching vids of Hogan and seeing the same head backward move from one of our best (and longest) club players. I had always heard "keep the head still" (certainly helpful for putting, chipping, pitching) but robs distance and smoothness for longer clubs like the driver; may also be harmful to the lower back. My biggest problem now is releasing the club without hooking or getting the big push to the right.
@@meandmygolf. Just played 18 yesterday and swinging all the way through with the finish plus starting with straight arms while rotating back helped like 75% of my drives go far and straight! Now, off to chipping!
Great video, very helpful. The turning of the shoulder was eye-opening. Question, do I want my lead shoulder to turn and align the same way (near the trail foot) with my irons?
Similar yes. We just want to make sure we stay a little more centred with irons as we want the low point to be after the ball. It's not the end of the world if we move slightly off the ball in the back swing with the driver as we want to sweep it.
Im the first part of the swing, i was told to keep the butt end of the club inside where the ball is, bit you are showing it out towards the ball in front of the right foot?
I have the same problem. I tend to get that good turn with my irons, but with the driver that makes me hit more down on the ball (great for my irons, obviously not so much with the driver)
It all depends on the person and what they struggle with. For someone who leaves the face really open through the ball then tip 3 can work with irons yes. Tip 1 you have to be careful with as we want a more centred pivot. You can get away with moving slightly off the ball with the driver as we want to hit up and the ball is teed up. Obviously we want a downward hit with an iron so staying centred (with good rotation) is so key.
Andy, you Guys are great but it's a shame you can't get in a time machine, go forward 30 years and then try those turns. As a 70 yr old can honestly say the body is nowhere near as flexible as it was 30/40 yrs ago. So how about tips for us oldies.
The leg work in this can certainly help with that. They key thing is to stay within your limits of physicality. Opening the trail foot at address can certainly help too for more turn.
@@meandmygolf. thanks - i deally in front of a mirror - I played in a pro am recently and the pro told me to work on my pivot so that's what ill do. appreciate the reply guys - the videos are great and very easy to understand
Go on then! Which one of these moves do you struggle with the most? Let us know down below👇
The answer is simply....Yes
The 3rd move, release 😢
def the release,Andy should all the weight be on your right leg as you start downswing?,thanks

Fantastic video/lesson! Thank you for simplifying these tips. I can't wait to try them out.
This is the video that ive needed to see cant get my head around the difference of fliping and releasing
Thanks 👍
Hope this helps.

Brilliant. Wish I had this video 30 years ago when I started playing golf. Thanks Andy.

If you are hitting it straight or with a draw then I wouldn't worry so much on the release David. Appreciate the feedback.👍🏻
Makes so much sense.

Yes keeping the head still on the longer stuff only inhibits motions and freedom in the swing. Hope this was useful James.
The third move for me! I finish with my arms across all the time! Can't wait to get the bottom of the club to face the target. Great video!
Let us know how this changes things

I like the tip of pointing the club at the target. Is this the same for irons too?
It can be if you struggle with closing the face
Great video
Andy, brilliant...as always.

Great advice. I can't wait to get to the range to try this out.
Thanks Andy. Let me know how it goes.
Went well. One of the best range sessions with my driver for a long time. Thanks for the great content.
A lot to take in, but one of your best, most informative video’s.
Thanks. Hope the drills help.
Do you turn the wrists through similarly to driver with long and short irons?
Great tips!
Well explained my bad move is the sway to the right . Skying my driver of late is it because my head is in front of the ball at impact
Yes getting behind the ball in the back swing is key. Make sure the ball is forward intense stance also.👍🏻
Making it look easy Andy off to the Astbury to practise those golden tips ps wish ya golfing partner happy Birthday for the 10 August same as mine 😊
Hope you're both well!! Another year younger Mart!!
For the second drill, could you also lift the left heel to allow for more hip turn?
Also how far away is the other range we can see in the distance? 😅
Yes definitely James. That can work if it's consistent for you.
Im the first part of the swing, i was told to keep the butt end of the club inside where the ball is, bit you are showing it out towards the ball in front of the right foot?
Hi Greg. I am not quite sure what you mean. Are you talking about where the butt of the club points too half way back?
@@meandmygolf. sorry, yes half way back
What’s ideal AOA? And launch angle? Ironically think my AOA is too much at times, I think like 8 degrees
It depends on the speed of the player. 8 is a lot though. It all depends on spin rate also. What is your spin and speed?
@@meandmygolf. clubhead ranges between 105-112, ballspeed between 153-162, spin rate all over the place😂. Usually 2300-3800 on a bad strike
I was taught to put your front shoulder in the air space your trail shoulder just vacated.
I like it. Does that help you?
@meandmygolf yes it does. Just so long as you don't slide off the ball on the backswing.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cheers Andy
Whenever I work on this I start to sway. Feels like a never ending cycle.
You definitely need some feedback either a mirror of video doing this Matty.

The first drill - do you recommend doing that for 15 mins a day
Yes that's definitely a good idea. With feedback so you are rotation and don't sway.

The more I try close the club face the more I hit out of the heel of both driver and irons just cannot get a strike out the middle 😢
