It's so annoying going to shows now and seeing everyone with their phone out, worried about recording what they are seeing, all while not realizing they were born with a built in recording device. Their own brain/mind/memory. And while focused on recording with their phone, they don't realize that memory is in their phone, not their own mind.
@@rsxfan I saw them live, front row in Dallas in 2018. I only recorded 2 short snippets of mine and my mom's two favorite songs as a keepsake and then I put it away and really enjoyed the rest of the show. I was so happy and in the moment that I literally cried. It was one of the best days.
I was at this concert July 4th,2004. With the GOO GOO DOLLS being from the Buffalo NY area made it that much more special. This concert was at the Buffalo waterfront park. They have a concert series during the summer every year with bands from various genres.
They were told that it was to dangerous to play and their manager told them not to!!! They did not want to let their fans down on the 4Th of July!!! I was in the second row, possibly third for this!!! I started crying as they sang!!! Fun fact Robbie Tackak the bassist wore something on his feet, thank god because he hates shoes! My home town band!!!
"You have no idea how much we love you" A lot of acts I would figure that would be a throwaway line. But with it being a home crowd.... I think he means it. And that singing it back at them at 8:00...... man if you're a performer, thats what you live for. They will never ever ever forget it, for the rest of their days. Beautiful.
Fantastic reaction of an amazing song. I can't imagine how they performed so well in the rain. Crazy good. Would love to see your reaction to Hozier's 'Cherry Wine' or 'Work Song'.
Prince played the halftime Super Bowl show in the rain using 3 different electric guitars. The band said that when they were done playing their instruments died. Best Super Bowl performance ever. You can get electrocuted like someone else said.
Info. It was a concert in their hometown of Buffalo NY where the bassist is from. For this performance to be in front of the Fans that were there with them from the beginning before Anyone had ever heard of The Goo Goo Dolls standing on the Legs Of Their Original Supporters just makes it That Much More Special!!
Honest reaction man, he lost raspy voice because of smoke and for a while he was not able to hit the high notes but now he's voice it's stronger than ever 💪🏼
In short, playing an electric guitar in the rain carries a big risk of components short circuiting so is rather dangerous. Moreso than that though, the instruments themselves will be ruined after this, both because of damage to electrical components but also the warping of the wood. You'll see at the end of the video John Rzeznik lays the guitar down on the stage and walks off. He knows that guitar is shot and he's never playing it again. They went off stage for a bit during this concert due to safety concerns and were advised to call the concert off but decided to come back out. This was a free concert for a hometown crowd and the band decided they weren't letting them down by not finishing.
I hate these fake " first time listening". This song was ubiquitous and played for a long time. Anyone who listens to music will have heard this song, especially for a white person.
I was there standing in 6" of water in a downpour. It was epic and amazing
Very lucky.
a truly treasured memory that no doubt brings you so much joy.
What I loved the most is that it was in 2004 and the entire crowd was in the moment WITH the band. Not focused on their phones.
LOVED LOVED LOVED THIS LIVE CD/DVD!!!

Gayest comment
I love that they played in their hometown. It just adds something. That crowd is their people.

I just want my man to smile at me the way Johnny smiles at this crowd.
“You’re the closest to heaven that i’ll ever be” is such a poetic thing to say 💔

A great band with even greater songs!! ❤❤❤❤
The best version EVER.
Dramatic irony is the term you're looking for .

Really appreciate it! I'll try and give it a listen!
He got shocked during the playing of this and kept playing.
People forget they started out as a punk band.
I haven’t forgotten-They were a great punk band. And they don’t get the recognition because they shifted genres.
Maybe the best concert I have ever been to.
also the beauty of a phone-less crowd!

Both Robby and Johnny are from here - they played at my prom back in the day and this was the best concert ever - I was there with my husband. 😂
@@Senneirda1970 Thank you for sharing that most intimate part of your life .

It’s actually dangerous because there’s a chance for electrocution,it’s why a lot of artists will cancel the concert if there’s rain
You’re back! I was hoping you were okay! Good to see you!
But also I refuse to believe this is the first time you’ve heard this song 🤯
No not the first time I've heard this song, first time if seen this performance!

Oh shoot that's cool to know! That's actually really cool of them to be so loyal to their fans
Love this song,it was the song for me and many girlfriends in 98/99
One of my favorites ❤😊
Magical moment
We need a "Wow" counter.
You should definitely give pierce the veil a listen to with great songs bulls in the bronx, I'd rather die than be famous, and Dive in

Request. Madonna-Like A Prayer music video .
For a soft band they are some die hard performers.

Did you just call that a Uke? Yeah I'm out....clearly don't know much.
Bye!!:)
You could’ve just simply said it is a Mandolin and not a Ukulele instead but each their own I guess
