I brought one a couple of months ago. It defo makes things more responsive. However, it still does not match a throttle cabled engine. Its that first second or so that's slightly laggy. I haven't played around with the setting much though. I got it on U-8. In the wet it can be tricky as the wheels can spin all too easily. Still, I would say its an improvement over the stock response.
Some comments suggest the i-drive only imitates putting the foot down harder. This is not the case because if you set the controller at U9 the fuel pump responds much quicker than when you hit the accelerator hard at the stock setting.
I thought that the throttle controller is designed to be used primarily when you are towing, driving in soft sand, driving on tracks in heavy mud or when you need to fine dial your throttle response to assist you in not getting stuck or otherwise driving the track easier. Using it daily is also an option but there might not be any need for it then. If you feel that you need more power on the go, dyno tune and remapping would do that for you if you are happy to do it.
I got a ultimate 9 two years ago and it was nice for the first couple of drives. It's been turned off since about the 2nd week and i actually forgot about it until this video
I have a 21 Vx and have a drone/ vibration at around 1450rpm at around the 80klm speed. It’s when in that speed zone if you take the foot off due to traffic and roll back on that it happens. Toyota have uploaded new software to address it but has had minimal effect. Have you heard of this and would a controller fix it as it seems that the gear box should be dropping back a gear but doesn’t. If I drive more aggressively it doesn’t happen but that’s not how I drive a car. Would like to hear what you think.. it seems Toyota are aware of the issue.
Just put the evc into the 2012 150 prado. It changes the dive so much. Great for track driving. I find a 150 very lagging on the track. Don't really need for daily driving. On sale for $190, good valve. Agree i would not buy for $290 or rrp. Agree the gear changes are changed heaps too. Agree you don't need it but it does make it a bit more fun in u9
Got an ultimate 9 about three months ago and love it. Makes daily driving more fun and car gets up to speed faster for overtake. Anti slip mode works great as well, tried it out on a hill with loose rock and it worked as advertised.
Good advice mate I have one on my 2005 hilux but I am getting intermittent limp mode Almost never goes into limp around town driving but on highway sometimes goes into limp with no engine fault codes ?? Could throttle control be the issue?
You seem to have a ngegative agenda staight away with this product. It has help me so much. Love the response. Helps in somany situations like the beach for u mode and e on the rocky. All you doing are assumptions on personel apinions. Show me some facts please. All opinion. No facts. No reliability in what you are saying. Workit out.
@@andrewlangford88 no, because you have lag. With drive by wire throttles you re not in control of the throttle curve. That's what the controller does. It remaps the pedal angle to the amount of throttle opening.
Its a bandaid, just giving more %at the start of throttle application making it feel more responsive, you will get the same result from pushing your foot down further… IDrive is making a fortune because people don’t want to push their foot down.😂😂😂😂
Throttle controller in my 120 1KD manual makes a significant difference, i would of either sold the car or got a remap if i didn't have the controller. It's also improved the fuel economy by 0.8l/100 as well as made it much more drivable.
Nicely explained. My son got one for his car and told me it helps tbrotle control while driving on sand
Great for towing also the e range is good for driving when you dont want to spin the wheels.

I like my cheapie throttle controller on my 1kd 4wd tuna. it helps modulate the pedal on really rocky stuff.

Thinking of putting one on my GW Steed manual

Could throttle control be the issue?
Are the benefits better in 150 manual prado? (1kd)
My fg turbo Ute's been tuned to 540hp, do you think this would help reduce turbo lag? Or just blow up my trans and tailshaft?🤔

I turn my throttle controller on to get through a busy intersection and then turn it of again.
Lol, wouldn't it be easier to just push the throttle harder 😂

You've not making sense
How does "pushing your foot down harder" address throttle lag?
