Just fitted evcX this arvo here in New Zealand.Been scrolling through RUclips videos to get my head around the different modes and your video the best I've found for a great explanation on all the modes and fuel economy.Much appreciated. Cheers.
I just installed the evcX on my 3rd gen Tacoma. Wow! What a difference. Ultimate9 is crazy fast. The truck has so much more power than the factory setting. ECO9 makes the truck start out slowly, but as the truck gains speed, you can feel the throttle allowing the truck to open up a bit. I haven't tested it, but it seems that fuel economy is going to improve quite a bit using this mode. As Kelly pointed out, I agree think Adapt mode is the way to go for most driving situations. In addition, I really liked that I could switch between modes 'on the fly'. Installation was super easy, and not having to leave the Driver Interface plugged in is great. Thanks very much Kelly for doing this video! As always, top notch and great information.
Thank you so much for this video man I truly appreciate your time and effort to make this video I find it very helpful.. No one here in Australia have a video like this Details to Details on RUclips.. GOD BLESS YOU SIR❤👍🏻
I’ve had this on my 4Runner as a layer for theft prevention for 4 months now. I’ve actually never tried ECO mode on it, just used it to lock out the peddle input. I will say, installing this isn’t easy due to lack of room, but it is a set it and forget it item, especially with the phone Bluetooth interface. I’m going to try the ECO mode to see if it makes a difference. Most of the time I drive it in Factory mode, as I worry about any issues or codes popping up. Once in awhile I put it in Ult mode level 4, as I do feel the power loss of my C load 285s, skid plates and roof rack (weight and drag). I can say I’ve had no issues with it so far.
Nice. I’m a huge fan. Try eco mode and let me know what you think. There definitely is a lag to slow your acceleration but that is how you get better MPG. I’ve been running it ever since I got and am a huge fan.
@@AdventureBuilt I tried the initial ECO mode which starts out in the lowest setting (slowest throttle input), and the input was so slow it was scary (be hit from behind if changing lanes?). What level are you using in ECO mode? Additional question, I’m assuming that the Factory setting on your Ultimate9 defaults to your tune setting which is still better than stock … is this a correct assumption. On my 2022 4Runner TRD Off Road Premium, I’m considering getting a tune done (I only have 8,000 kms on my vehicle).
@@AdventureBuilt Forgot to say, I continue to enjoy your channel content from both you and your brother (good banter and fun between you two). Always good to see a new posting from you guys.
I wanted to buy this for the Lock mode, but it seems not to be good enough as the thieves can still drive the car in the idle mode. I guess the best way is to lock the gearbox from moving completely.
I think when you hit the eco button it presets to 5 which is pretty reasonable. It you put it down to 1 it is hard to keep a highway speed. No scientific testing that i know of.
I would have to say it’s a little better than stock since when you accelerate the truck really moves. When you let off the gas it goes into exo mode which saves fuel. It’s kind of a wash. It’s my favorite mode.
I’ve installed today on my Outback but something messed up My Check Engine light came up and Brakes Lights Came up and suddenly the car didn’t move no matter how much I’ve floored the gas Maybe the Launch mode cause the issue
I ran into the same issue using pedal commander. The problem isn't the software or anything it modifies. The issue is it draws all of its power through the pedal and actually leaches power from the rest of the system. My transmission stopped shifting and I was locked in overdrive with my check engine light permanently on among other lights that I can't remember until I reset the battery. Pedal monster is what I would recommend instead unless there's something better.
So in adapt I feel like I get more acceleration during take off then it kicks into eco mode when I hit my cruising speed. You definitely won’t get eco MPG but you will get the better and you still get acceleration. That is the only thing bad about eco mode. If you ever have to get going fast, eco will not allow it.
Does it work with the cruise control to get you up steep hills easier and more fuel efficiently? I know that Tacoma and fuel efficient are a contradiction of terms! 🤣😂🤣
In the eco9 my rig has a hard timing keeping 60-65 in cruise control. It seems to want to kick down into 5th gear then back up to 6th. You definitely feel a sluggish power in Eco9 but you kinda have to give somewhere to get better gas mileage. If I’m driving and the truck is stressing to keep 65 I just do 60. I am retired after all. 😂
Throttle controllers don’t work with cruise control as the input is not coming from the throttle pedal but the truck ECU. The only thing to make a difference when using cruise control is a tune.
I don't care about a flat tire, I don't care about what candy you eat. Get to the pertinent info. This video could be 3 minutes long. Editing is your friend.
Dude, you're killing me with the spare tire change etc.. Just looking for info on the module.. Also you never finished telling us if you saved money before you moved on to another subject.. I still do not know how much money you saved in economy mode out of frustration of having to watch a bunch of content.. Just sayin dude.. All good

You are so very welcome. I’m glad you liked the video and the Ultimate9 is pretty amazing. Let me know what kind of gas mileage you are getting!
I thought the surprise would be the fuel economy on the adaptive setting

No problem at all. It is an amazing device. I still can’t believe that it has a lockout feature. So innovative.

This is great information. I have to check this out for my Tundra.
It’s pretty awesome. Just the lock out feature was enough for me.
Thank you for your explanation. I'm convinced

It’s still pretty legit. I don’t think anyone is getting far only at an idle.
@AdventureBuilt but they can still push the car around out of sight and figure things out. Once they know the plug and play wiring, it's a wrap.
In eco mode what level were you at? Is there any data to support HP/ throttle gain

Does this work in conjunction with MTS, Crawl Control or rear lockers? Would you have to set it to factory?
No it completely works with all the Offroad settings.
Thank you for this information.
How does this compare to those flashed ECU programs?
So this will work if you’re tuned, i.e KDMax / OTT?
Absolutely. I have the yotaworx tune and it works awesome.
How is MPGs in the ADAPT function?

Wow that is very odd. Did the problem go away after unplugging it?

@@zalllonThanks for explaining that.
Bluetooth is stupid for this application
It’s actually amazing, otherwise you would have to disconnect the head unit to engage the antitheft mode.

Sorry for the side track. I give a breakdown at the end. I guess I have a bit of ADHD.
