- Frank Sinatra performing The Lady Is a Tramp from the move Pal Joey. Unfortunately the original stereo recording was neglected and eventually lost so the only surviving track in is mono.
The Lady Is a Tramp was written by Rodgers and Hart (1937)
Uploaded in QHD (2560x1440).
There will never be another Frank Sinatra.
This is THE best version of "Lady is a Tramp." Sinatra sings it without fooling around, something he too often did after singing it a million times. Here, he's totally locked in.
2:55 is why Frank is and will always be the chairman of the board. I was lucky enough to see him live in 89. Even then, he still had it. RIP Frankie. We miss you.
You were lucky , but I weren't born and I wish I could see him singing next to me once
One of my favorite scenes in any movie.
great scene
Sinatra & Hayworth, two legends together. Timeless and priceless!
SO AGREE!!
Beautiful Frank Sinatra Voice and melody Style .❤
This is ONE OF MY FAVORITE MOVIES!!!!😍😍😍
One of the best Sinatra movies I've seen as well as the tender trap and on the town 👍
But, he had a golden arm...
@@woodpeckery😮Oh❗One of my favourite old films ‼️

Another example why Frank's an ICON!
The guy was a damn GENIUS.
I remember when I was referred to as an Icon. It made me feel like I was a thousand years old, LOL.
Good song by old blue eyes frank Sinatra rip gone but not forgotten
simply THE BEST
One of the best!!!!!
I've seen this movie a million times and this is the first time I have really paid attention to how he belts this thing out. The band is excellent , are they really playing? Everybody is rocking to the beat and Frank and the bandleader are jamming it out. The song, the music. and the way Sinatra sings it are fabulous! I keep playing the last part "hate California it's so cold and so damp.......
Movie scenes are usually lip-synced and pre-recorded, bit I think they did rock this out together in the studio. Back then, the singer recorded live with the orchestra instead of recording separately and overdubbing like nowadays (not that it's bad, but live was what Frank Sinatra preferred.)
@@franksonatra I think you're right. The first number Frank sings IMO was also done as a live take in the studio with the full band. Oh Jesus this clip gives me goose bumps!
dude was a smoothie.
So fabulous!! Thank you, Music Video Vault!
the man!!
Amazing! Rest In Peace to both Rita Hayworth and Frank Sinatra.
I have one huge issue with the movie. Who on earth would leave Rita Hayworth? Who would dump Rita Hayworth? I don't care if it's Kim Novak. WE'RE TALKING ABOUT RITA HAYWORTH, HERE!!!
me...I preferred Novak
I never did get the insult of this song. But, that seems to be how this song is perceived (even in this clip) It's actually very complimentary since it's talking about a free spirited woman who is unconventional, not a phony, isn't given to gossip or putting on airs. Maybe it should have been said: "That's why others call her a tramp" but, I guess that doesn't flow very well lyrically.
The term "tramp" doesn't mean what you seem to think it does. This is the primary definition on Google :: ".
a person who travels from place to place on foot in search of work or as a vagrant or beggar" -- so modifying that, "a person who travels from place to place".
I think "tramp" means someone who is always out and about, gallivanting around, and, in this case, defying convention.
@@robsieger1886 If you check out 3:19 in the video, it appears that Rita's character and the club owner, whichever version they thought the term "tramp" as defined, both perceived it as an insult. That;s all I was saying.
I think it was originally meant as an insult by the high class in a broadway musical, but mas later adapted to be more complimentary.
@@cesarsosa4617 Could be. I just googled it and.the Sinatra website came up with a post from someone who posted something there that was very similar to what I said and Nancy responded by pointing out that: in this clip from Pal Joey, Rita's character first didn't get what he was saying and took it as an insult and, later on saw the compliment in it. So I watched the clip once again and yeah. That's what it looks like to me too. The song is definitely "a thinker".
Stupid feminists.

Itt Rita 39, Frank 42 éves. Rita idősebbnek néz ki, Frank meg kifejezetten öreg ehhez a szerephez.
Here, Rita is 39 and Frank is 42. Rita looks older, and Frank looks much older for the role.
If I had the chance to sing in a place without knowing someone that would be awesome that's how Frank sinatra got started
Everybody wants to talk about Frank, and he's the one singing. (And pretending to play the piano.)
But this is one of Hayworth's best performances. Nuanced, and absolutely right, all the way. First offended, knocked off-kilter--but puzzled--this guy needs my money, why is he dissing me? Okay, maybe it's not entirely a diss. Hey, he's pretty good. Okay, I'm sold. Let's go. It's all there in her expressions. Very very nice. The lady was an actress.
The manager looks like Rodney Dangerfield

Love Frank
Money helps but its. Not what always makes a person happy Money doesn't buy great health
Anybody know what kind of piano this is? is it just a prop, or did they really make an abbreviated upright like this?

What does “the lady is a tramp” mean?
It means because she's honest about human nature, she's looked down on by the leftovers of European aristocracy :)
Additionally, it means she's like a homeless person who begs, or a stray dog. Calling a lady a tramp also means she is sexually promiscuous. Even though it doesn't mean that in this case (it means what Tamlin Nicholl said it means), it does explain (a) Joey's delight in saying to her at 0:37 (b) her shocked and insulted look, and (c) the manager banging his head against the wall. It sounded like Joey's was saying that the lady jumps in bed easily with a lot of different men.
I would sing this about Cardi B.
