It's time to get real; 17 year old girls are physically mature. Puberty is done by then, and it isn't unreasonable that someone might find a 17 year old attractive. He didn't sexualize her or anything, he just called her pretty. It only becomes a problem when that attraction is acted on by a significantly older male.
