Mastodon has a lot of open chords 6 strings strummed riffs, so it's only natural that the Bhinds signature is not as gainy and crampled as other amps. Altough they do play heavy stuff, they still need that chimed and crystal distortion so the you can hear the range their riffs. Brent has a tubescreamer in his pedalboard for the moments where he feels like he needs to push it a little bit. The Mastodon sound has developed a lot through the years and it's not as gainy and scooped like their Leviathan/Blood Mountain era, so yeah, this is pretty much the mastodon sound for nowadays.
Chad Bowhuis I guess Orange doesn't have the same sense of humor that Brent has. I was really hoping after that interview when he said it somehow it would happen.
Well, to be fair there surely are some stores or chains that wouldn't want to sell it with that name. If you look at orange's ads or youtube channel you can see they're pretty stupid (in a positve way) themself.
Dude I personally appreciate the addition of the video part descriptions you provided at the start. I love your videos but sometimes I don't have time to watch the whole thing, and this just made my morning. Cheers from North Carolina!
Great review Henning and great amp too. Less Orangey but more Marshally to my hears (less compressed more mid focused). I prefer that. Looking forward for the comparison video.
Just for once I'd like someone who played really badly like me would review some amps or pedals. I've a feeling someone this good at playing would make a wet baguette sound awesome
Great review and great amp! Tried it and like it very much. Did you or someone tried PRS MT 15 for comparison. I am in a process of deciding what to buy and NH Terror is definitely in the top but I would like to try TR 15 and there is none in my country. I could order from Thomann but don't want to buy blind. If you happen to get one could you do a review/comparison?
Used to have one of the origional Tiny Terrors. Got rid of it eventually and still think that was one of my biggest mistakes ever! Miss that amp almost every practice session. Maybe I should give this Mr. Hinds lunchbox of terror a try. Don't realy care much for Mr. Hinds style of music, but I like (t)his amp a lot.
Every orange amp is fizzy this one a little less. But I will say they usually sit good in a mix but playing solo they sound so fizzy. Glad to see this one is a little less
... I feel quite a bit underwhelmed of what Orange have came out with this year, maybe they have something else planned later in the year, but so far I'm just not sold on anything. A vertical 2x12 cab, yeah fair enough but it's not impossible to put your horizontal 2x12 on it's side... And, the new cab has 97db speakers... What, really? C'mon, Orange. Maybe I would have been sold if the Rocker Terror was a 30w amp with a couple of EL34s, or why not just go 50w with an attenuation control knob. Or, and, go the same size but at 80/90w with a couple of KT88s and of course with an attenuation knob. It'd be amazing if Orange had those options, it'd make the Terror series way more attractive.
what kind of guitar is that purple beauty at 1:42 ?? i want haven't had an electric guitar since i had to pawn my Gibsons now that Ive been clean n sober for years now i want to get back all my musical instruments that were sold off for one reason or another if you or someone can let me know would be much appreciated
The Main question for me is, how the sound ist different to the ORANGE ROCKER 15 (Combo used as a Head) or ROCKER 15 TERROR (Head) same Specs as the Brant Hinds, different voicing?
I am overweight and still want to play fat rhythms. I want to see this compared to the Rocker 15 since I have the Rocker 32. I'll eventually get another Orange amp to add to my Dark Terror and Micro Dork, so the Hinds seems intriguing.
I also found that the creambacks sounded way way different than the vintages. It was more aggressive. Not like too agressive but it sounded way better in my opinion.
Wow, this amp is amazing, holy shit .For you or anyone else who doesn't know mastodon's work just listen to Jaguar God and Cold Dark Place (the song). Both are masterpieces released in 2017
He does say that , didnt you watch? Calling the Brent Hinds more "more Open , Less gainy, and it is voiced rawer , less compressed". As a Orange guy myself i cant see anyone really be dissapointed with either , but the BH is another take on the Orange sounds. Do think the Clean Channel is identical
He asked about the OR15, not the Rocker 15 :) The OR15 is closer to the Root wich is based on the Rockerverb/OR50, 4 gain stages, more bottom like the rocker 15, less highs, softer/rounder sounding in general, more sustainy and compressed than the Rocker 15, and waaaay more than the B.Hinds. Brent's amp is pretty much a Rocker 15 voiced like his old master volume JMPs.
This amp should cover anything from quite bedroom to small venue. I’m considering the non-signature version. It seems a little darker and warmer to me from what I’ve heard.
Awesome! Just what Orange needed, another 15 watt, EL84 powered lunchbox amp! I mean, they only have what? like 74 of them now? WTF Orange? Why do they insist on catering to kids playing in their bedrooms and the guy jamming in his dad band in the basement? How about a reissue of a vintage Orange for your 50th anniversary? Something new for us gigging musicians? Christ.
Something new for gigging musicians? You mean the ones who usually have access to mics that they can place onto their cabs? Or where 15 tube watts is more than enough? Or even the ones who want to use this in a studio/home recording setup? Seems to me like you're just salty.
If you can afford a amp that sounds like this but has 50 or 100 watts you can also afford this amp and a good microphone. If the PA of the event organiser sucks that is a whole other story. But hey you do not have to agree and that is a wonderful thing. Just get the amp(s) that suit you and if it does not exist, yet get as close as you can and hope it will be build some day. Have fun rocking with whatever equipment you choose !
I frequently play live, including at moderate sized venues, and use a 20 watt Peavey 6505MH. It has more than enough stage volume with a 2x12 or 4x12 cab and with a proper venue mic'ing the amp up through the PA there's no volume issue for the audience whatsoever (the sound guy not yelling at you to turn it down is also a bonus). Decent clean headroom I might add (considering it's not known for that). I also own a Rivera KTre 120 watt head... Boy did carrying that beast around get old quick. I love that amp but it's not worth the hassle unless you've got a crew helping you out. I need not mention how many times I was told to turn down using that amp. That being said, I agree that Orange should try something new in the amp head department. One thing ALL these little Orange lunchbox amps should have imo is a digital reverb. Just add one knob and a little digital reverb circuit. Peavey's mini amps have it. H&K has it and then some.
I hate when people use their videos to brag about all the stuff they have. We get it, you have a lot of sweaters.
Mastodon has a lot of open chords 6 strings strummed riffs, so it's only natural that the Bhinds signature is not as gainy and crampled as other amps. thanks
Brent has a signature silver burst flying v with signature lace pickups. Big fan of both your demos and Mastodon
I do believe you just sold me on this beast. Damn you did a great job on this one sir!
Actually disappointed it has his name instead of saying Dirty B Hinds...
Hey, that was my top comment on Ultimate Guitar!
I came here to comment this. You fast beautiful minded devil.
Same here, they should have taken a hint from Friedman's names and realized people don't care if it has a "dirty" name if it sounds amazing.
Dude I personally appreciate the addition of the video part descriptions you provided at the start. I love your videos but sometimes I don't have time to watch the whole thing, and this just made my morning. Cheers from North Carolina!
dude... they have always been there.... been doing that forever
And I've just been missing them?! My wife always tells me that I "don't look with my eyes," and it must be true.
The clean channel on these orange amps are one of my favorite things about them. Even the solid state crush series has good clean channels
Yeah I like the cleans on my 35rt,better than my or15.
The Intro Track is fucking mental!!
Is that some stylized Mastodon song or just inspired?
Crack the Skye is an epic album and all the solos on it are played by Hinds :)
Great demo! I've made my choice after watching this and the rocker demo
I love your reviews. Good quality, thorough and hilarious. Thank you : )
Sick playing
Great review Henning and great amp too. Less Orangey but more Marshally to my hears (less compressed more mid focused). I prefer that. Looking forward for the comparison video.
Just for once I'd like someone who played really badly like me would review some amps or pedals. I've a feeling someone this good at playing would make a wet baguette sound awesome
"comes with a strap-on"... killed me
Great video as always, so am I correct in thinking the BH has less gain and compression than the R15 Terror?
This is a very entertaining review! Especially after a beer and two shots of bourbon! LOL Rock On!
Great amp, great review! Thanks Monsieur Henning!
i'm with you Henning... Brent who??? ohh i guess i am gonna have to listen to some Mastadon after this......
You're spot on, Henning ... "Terror" IS misleading, and undoubtedly turns lots of players off from even checking those amps out ... :P
Sounds great. Nice demo
You actually said the cat is "on" the table not under
Great review and great amp! Tried it and like it very much. Did you or someone tried PRS MT 15 for comparison. I was doing research on this amp (been loving it) and wanted to know if it was loud. Went to 20:58 and that gave my answer lol.
what kind of guitar is that purple beauty at 1:42 ?? i want haven't had an electric guitar since i had to pawn my Gibsons now that Ive been clean n sober for years now i want to get back all my musical instruments that were sold off for one reason or another if you or someone can let me know would be much appreciated
“How many Hansen albums do you have? EXACTLY!”
Fucking. Brutal.
The Main question for me is, how the sound ist different to the ORANGE ROCKER 15 (Combo used as a Head) or ROCKER 15 TERROR (Head) same Specs as the Brant Hinds, different voicing?
8:43 Surely you meant the cat is on the table not under... Cheers Henning!
Dude! Great mastodonish track!

A quick question about your amp wall: Dont u have heat problems when u stack them like this?
no, all good
I am surprised you didn’t know who Brent Hinds was but only because I got into them last year and felt like the last person on Earth to find them.
This amp destroyed through the creambacks. I was NOT expecting that.
I also found that the creambacks sounded way way different than the vintages. It was more aggressive. Not like too agressive but it sounded way better in my opinion.
Really.....I thought CARVIN came out with the first lunch box with the V3M. 2009-2010.
10:08 LOL! Too funny.
That song at the end, tho!
so what's the price on thhese again, it's not published anywhere
Would you say this is loud enough to use with one of those drummer creatures, and not be drowned out by them?
should be
@@EytschPi42 thank you!
Wow, this amp is amazing, holy shit .For you or anyone else who doesn't know mastodon's work just listen to Jaguar God and Cold Dark Place (the song). Both are masterpieces released in 2017
The intro song was missing approx 4668909 tom fills...
Nice amp Would sound awesome with the epi V BH.
Very cool orangy goodness....do you just make up chords😎as you go....nice
You actually have hair. I thought you were naturally bald!
What is the song at the end of this video, can't get it out of my fricken head.
4:19 Did he say Steve Rieck?
I am still waiting for the Eytsch Pi Signature Sweater Line
I suppose you could remove the handle on one (to stack them). You'd have to carry it by holding the sides. wahh.
Is it possible to put this on the lowest output setting and play through headphones?
no
24:18 I fucking died
Icon as a sticker?! 😂
How does it compare to OR15?
That's what I want to find out as well...
He does say that , didnt you watch?
Calling the Brent Hinds more "more Open , Less gainy, and it is voiced rawer , less compressed".

there will be a comparison video

Ah dang , my bad!
Cheers!
vraiment beau est trep cool
Not sure if intentional Eddie Izzard reference or... #LeChatEstSurLaTable
it is a reference!
I don't like the fact that the clean channel has no tone knob
Sweater Core
C'est quoi le délire à placer des phrases en français ;-) ?
NAISE!
Sweater, Cords and Jazz progadon
Good thing I'm an overweight rythym player! Sounds like it's just for me
Is it loud enough to play with a drummer and bassist...
yes
EytschPi42 thanks...
This amp should cover anything from quite bedroom to small venue. I’m considering the non-signature version. It seems a little darker and warmer to me from what I’ve heard.
Brent Hinds is my Dad
Nice haircut
I love strap ons...i mean straps.
Didn’t this guy have a friedman sig before or am i thinking of someone else?
Butterslax is bill kelliher, he's still Friedman
Who doesn't know who Steve Reich is? I'm still going to make a ridiculous comment about you not knowing who Brent Hinds is.
When Orange ever makes a fizzless amp, I will buy another, every once in awhile I have to plug back into a Marshall to get away from that crap.
Herschel Walker agree 100% why is every one of their amps fizzy
le son est dabille
Track at the end though.
" comes with a strap on " ..... hmmmmm maybe for select german/european customers he he he he he ;) :P
System of a down meets.......
It comes with a strap on xD ahahhaahhahahahhahhahahahahhahahahahahahah xD
Be serious pleaseee
Nooe

Just a little life tip for ya little guy, get your head out of your ass. Nobody cares what you want or think.
Love, a gigging musician
Medicine Man you sound butthurt, like someone insulted your mom. You must play in a dad band lol.
Something new for gigging musicians? You mean the ones who usually have access to mics that they can place onto their cabs? Or where 15 tube watts is more than enough? Or even the ones who want to use this in a studio/home recording setup?
