  • The BMW M240i comes with the same chassis as a BMW 218d which means that the powerful B58 overwhelms the chassis when pushed hard! A cheap and cheerful mod to do are these @Powerflex Suspension Bushes Subframe inserts which I had previously fitted on the M140i and this time round I had to do the same on the M240i. We went for the harder black bush instead of the yellow so lets see how much different they are! Also have brands hatch coming up so will able to report back how they help on track!

    I've had a m135i for a month now and it's awesome, buuuuuuuuuuuut (!!!) it 100% floaty at the rear especially when you're hitting plus 100 (on track obviously). I've got adaptive suspension, but will look into these plus the old motech springs and spacers. Great content dude, keep them coming 🤙

    245/40 PS4 XL, harder sidewalls sort it out vs the spongy PSS which is where most of the criticisms comes from since day 1. Driven both tyres back to back stock car and it’s the tyre

    • @TimWilliamsHD
      @TimWilliamsHD  2 года назад

      I have PS4s and it still did it at speed tbf, the movement in the subframe is way too much without the inserts too for a m lite

      @one40i19 2 года назад

      @@TimWilliamsHD 40 section 97y XL? They’re a lot harder than 35 92y. Firms the numbness out. Looks like PS5 has firmed up the sidewall from early feedback, hopefully in 245/35, if not I’ll stick with 245/40.

    Yo Tim! Revisiting this video after tracking my m240i for the first time and definitely feel the floatiness at those higher speeds. Curious if you only did the sub frames with the blacks or did you also go for the diff inserts like you were considering? Thanks bro!

    • @TimWilliamsHD

      Currently I’ve got solid bushes from Millway but for just road use, the black inserts on subframe and diff are perfect!

    Good insight Tim. I’ve been considering these for a while but I’m on B14’s, what d’ya think?? Black or yellow, black or yellow, black or yellow lol. Soz couldn’t resist! Seriously though, black or yellow with the coilies?? 😆

    Hi Tim, I'd like to ask you for advice. I have a stage 3 Bmw F20 120d with non-adaptive suspension. I mount eibach prokit springs with original shock absorbers re-calibrated in the hydraulics (I had b8 but I didn't like how they went). I mount PS4 225/40/18 tires on both axles and at the moment I run with the yellow powerflex inserts. The floating sensation has been significantly reduced without compromising comfort, but it's not entirely gone. I would be tempted to try the black inserts but I would like your opinion as I have no adaptive suspension.
    You are a great Tim and I love that you tell the truth about things.

      Hi mate
      I’d say suspension is key but the real floaty issue could be down to the width. I run 255 front and back now and the car feels really planted!

    Hi Tim just wanted to ask you a question as you have had the opportunity to own a 140i and now an owner of the m240i honest opinion what car do you genuinely prefer. My reason for asking as I’m torn between buying 😩 either 🤷🏻‍♂️ watch so many reviews but nothing really stands out with a definitive answer on what car handles the best before any modifications. Appreciate any feedback 👍🏻

      Hey mate I prefer the 240i in terms of looks as it looks more sporty as a coupe than a hatchback however I did miss the practicality of five doors when I first got it. The chassis also feels stiffer than the 140s did out of the box too?

    Great vid, thanx mate ! did you experienced also the front TS & LCA M4 kit set modification on your F22 ? I plan to do both modifications (rear bushes plus M4 front control arms) and i'm also wondering if switching my RFT Potenza tyres with non RFT Michelin tyres would be worthy : my stock M240i RW got 18" wheels, electronic suspensions and direct drive steering, and when the road is not perfect or bended it is very hard to handle as it goes everywhere with a bad steering feeling....and these RFT tyres are so noisy !!!
