  • This coming week we finally get the part 2 movie adaptation of the first DUNE novel, and to celebrate, I'm sharing my McFarlane DUNE part 1 & 2 figures as well as the Meng Atreides Ornithopter model, and the repainted AMC DUNE Sandworm popcorn bucket topper!
Together they create quite a collection of Dune movie pieces! I am a big fan of the McFarlane brand as it is, so when they picked up the DUNE part one licence, I was on board for every figure in the set! I had to have the Beast Rabban figure, and got all I could find.
Now, with Part two among us, I have grabbed what I can, short one or two special figures, and am pretty happy with what I have.
This lot is WAY better than that for the 1984 movie, which did have a lot of merchandise back in the heyday of the Eighties, when movie cards and cups and magazines flooded the market. But, the David Lynch version of the story fell short of everyone's desires, unfortunately, and it would take the movie Blue Velvet and of course, Twin Peaks,, to bring Lynch the fame he did deserve.
His DUNE was a butchered nightmare, and we fans of the great Frank Herbert novel have waited ages, in hopes that someone gifted would show up and make a real adaptation.
We got that in Denis Villeneuve! The visionary Filmmaker left us breathless with his amazing part one, and now, we live in hopes that the "Lawrence of Arabia of Science Fiction" story, would finish with a flourish!
Looks like it has. SO, enjoy my meager attempt at a repainted set, and a cool display with hopes of more to come!
ENJOY and please, LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and comment as you see fit!
    Til next time,
    Les out!

Very nice work l would like to know how U got the real dusty look on the stim suit. An painting faces is probably one of the hardest part to get right. I would luv to see a video of U painting these. I will look into your channel to see if there's any how to paint. Yes great movie l don't think episode 2 will be the final movie. Especially how well the movie's have done. I think there will be more. Great work hope to see some painting videos. Thanks Aussie Skot.

Love my Aussie friends! Thanks so much for the kind words! I have definite plans to do more How-To vids in the near future! I'll have my first one up in a day or so, regarding how to change neck post or "pig" heights, then I hope to do more, and painting ones will be a must. Thanks for commenting!

That sounds fantastic, can't wait to see how U get your faces so realistic. I definitely struggle doing faces an skin, an uniforms it's easy to get the base colour down. But getting the shading of the pleets an creases is we're l struggle. So to see an expert do a how to, would be extremely helpful. Great work hope to see more in the future. Aussie Skot.

How’d you weather the freman? Just a dry brush?

Dry brush and washes. I like washes because they get in the seams and cracks and really make things look dusty. I recommend sandy colors and water them down (water based paints only!) in a small container or lid, and wipe excess off with your fingers or a cloth.
