Two important questions: 1) Does the video have to be a "performance"? Or can it simply be a studio recording with lip-syncing, or even a video without me in it at all? Can it just be animated visuals or something? I make music in a cut and paste way, one musical phrase at a time, one instrument at a time, doing it over many times until I get it perfect--then placing that recorded piece into the track. I'm not confident in my ability to perform any part of the song well in one take. 2) You say to use the app to learn the song but then that we can change the arrangement... Does that mean I can still be considered for the contest if I don't play the chords/notes exactly right as they're provided in Yousician? I'm worried I won't be able to get them perfect and still be able to take the cover the direction I want.
I've been using Youscian to learn Guitar for the past couple months and I've learned a lot with it. I would love to enter the contest, but I'm away from home this month and I don't think I'm nearly as talented as some of the entries right now. I do recommend Youscian, though. It makes the learning process really engaging and entertaining. As someone that knows how to play many different instruments, this app makes learning guitar something fun and rewarding. I'm at Lv 4 for both Lead and Rhythm guitar already and I'm always striding to get up to higher levels. I use the free demo, which limits practice time per day, but it's nice to sit down for 20 minutes and learn something new. That OP1 is tantalizing, but I'm gonna have to pass because I'm nowhere near the level other entries will be. Looking forward to seeing them though! Good luck to all who enter.

I'm sure you'll have to good chance if you're creative, even if you aren't great at playing :) if you're worried that you might not be as skilled as others, you could focus on making an awesome video to help you stand out. Good luck!!

Andreas Bonde Haupt. Good point, but, the whole point is to inspire people to hone their skills. People who may not be so good right now can have motivation to get better and put everything they can into improving. We have about a month before June 30, and that doesn't seem like a lot of time, but I can say from experience, if you really want it and put forth the effort, that's a lot of time to really improve. Plus, even if you aren't the most musically gifted person, who can still blow away with your creativity.
I can "produce", I understand music, melody, chords, structure, etc. But I never learned to play. My fingers don't seem to work that way. So I continue to twiddle knobs, fiddle switches, and notate with piano rolls and other such input methods. I'm content doing that!!
my favorite application of the chord augmented is in the minor melodic scale where you start on the tonic and diminish the root. so you go D-F-A to Db-F-A (arpeggiated). It's a simple sound but it's my favorite.
