Did anyone else notice during the side-by-side speedo comparison, the Golf R got to 120/130kph quicker, but after that, the Leon Cupra started to climb through the speed faster and pass the Golf R on speed due to it not having the extra drivetrain drag and weight from the Haldex 4WD System..
Every AWD system acts this way, fast on the 0-100 and then slows down comparing to the 2WD car as you mentioned drivetrain drag, weight etc etc.
Lets face it you'll be needing fast acceleration from standstill way more often than slightly faster acceleration past 130km'h, these cars have so much power that overtaking will never be an issue regardless of them being AWD or not.
@@damiandynski1804 You underestimate the german Autobahn, no matter how fast you are there are always some BMW headlights trying to eat into your rear end.
@@ChrisBa303 I don't underestimate anything. Used Autobahn few times now and it's really simple, you overtake someone and go back to the right lane as soon as you can... That's all.

I love cupras.
I "smoked" a few days ago a Golf R with my gf 280 Cupra on autobahn. I tried the next day with the same Golf R and my new 300 Curpa and the Golf R had no chance.. I wasn't a big difference between us, but the cupra it was a bit ahead...
Our Cupra 280 and 300 are FWD and Golf R is AWD. Anyway they are great cars, they give you a big smile on your face that's all what it's matter.

@@SuperYoryo1 Denmark ;) You can get a standard Golf 1.5 with 150 ps with manual gear and only aircon (not clima) and so on for the price of 44.000 euro here ;)
@@andersnielsen6044 WoW,its very expensive! I think that price diference is because in Denmark the average salary its 55000€ (in 2017) and in Spain its 23000€.

tried most of theses platforms, had an S3, the Mrs has a scirocco R, I had an 2002 ibiza cupra few years back, and just sold my 2016 audi S1 and bought a 2016 leon cupra 290, cupras all the way baby! there's just something about them

Cupra FR? No such thing. The Cupra R is just a top spec Cupra. FR is a lower spec with the quickest being the 190bhp 2.0L.

The old version 2014/15/16 of golf R is the best new one it's not an R anymore unfortunately 🤷🏼♂️, 2017/18/19 cupra is the best specially if you go with stage 2 400HP 500Nm+ with that Front-wheel Drive Damm you will get a lot of fun XD 💖
My cupra 300 stage 2 (384hp 526NM) smaches a45 (381hp) by 5~6 cars away in rolling 50... so you only need 4wd for drag...

It is very important to name the "384" hp and the "526" Nm, because people might think, it has only 380 hp and 520 Nm. Thanks God, my V222 has at least 455 hp and 700 Nm, while a dyno would show up to 491 hp, and 772 Nm, but I dont want to be that precise. ;-)

Cupra hat anfangs Schwierigkeiten vom Fleck zu kommen. Der Golf hat da einfach die bessere Traktionskontrolle😀. Aber heftig wie der cupra trotzdem aufholt.

Personally i prefer the Golf R, The Golf is quicker than the Cupra because it's AWD, So that means no wheel spin and that allows the car to make the 0-60 in only 3.4s. From the outside it also looks more aggressive than the Cupra... Just an opinion.

both car is great but 4wd always best o-200 seems almost same but when it comes to accelerate from 0 golf r wins in street u are not going 150 so ı think after modification and handling power gollfr all the way goes.. around 4 sec 0-60 mph almost super car level..
