HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 2 май 2024
- Sean Evans rides hard for his beloved Chicago deep dish, but regional pride can't blind him for the glories of a perfect New York pie. To better understand the legacy of Brooklyn pizza, he enlists the help of slice sherpa Paul Giannone-owner of Paulie Gee's in Greenpoint-to introduce him to some of the borough's old-school pizza joints. They end the tour back at Paulie Gee's to make a special Neapolitan pie fit for a spicy-food connoisseur like Sean.

That interaction between those old Italian guys was fucking gold
Seems straight out of a sitcom with the camera work and everything.
AMJGreenspy That's just how we New Yorkers talk to each other.
AMJGreenspy I use to think this type of stuff was exaggerated when I saw ppl talk like this on TV & movies til I lived in North Jersey for a year lol this really is everyday speech.
That interaction between Paulie and Lou talking about pizza is the most Brooklyn Italian thing that could ever be.
Thick Italian accents, ball-busting, and threats of violence. They hit the the trifecta.
My father grew up in Sam's, and he used to bring us to eat there when I was growing up. Lou is a really nice guy, perfect business owner, comes out and chats with the guests, and the pizza is truly amazing. We actually eat it with a knife and fork because it is one of the few pizza's worthy of being treated like an entree.
Gi joey "thick Italian accents" you've clearly never been to Italy lmao
@@gijoey5912 "Italian accents"???!!!...Neither one of them sounds like anyone in Italy. FYI.. It's a New York accent and people from all ethnic backgrounds speak that way in NYC
No clams. Fuck you. Reminded me of my grandma.
He looks like a really good movie director
You mean like, Martin Scorsese?
AirAssault7 He does resemble Martin.
The ShoeNice F**k you.
The ShoeNice Says the guy who is homeless.
A nice mix of Spielberg and Scorsese
Sean killing it with the new show
Jay Julio but why his hands so small?
Sean is always on point. Dude's a good host.
Marty / What r u talking bout
Such an inspiring story. 54 years old and realizes his true passion and now living the dream, just look at how happy he is!! Most people after 35-40, just give up and continue working 9-5 that they hate and say they are too old to follow a passion or a dream. You are never too old.
I'm coming back to this comment in my 50s lol. Hopefully with good news.
Amen!
It makes me want a pizza shop
This dude was really down to earth and cool.
"Sean's going on to big things." He's right and he's pretty endearing about it, too.
Paulie is a natural in front of the camera.
Our whole universe was in a hot, dense state
Then nearly fourteen billion years ago expansion started, wait
The earth began to cool, the autotrophs began to drool
Neanderthals developed tools
We built a wall (we built the pyramids)
Math, science, history, unraveling the mysteries
That all started with the big bang! Hey!
Since the dawn of man is really not that long
As every galaxy was formed in less time than it takes to sing this song
A fraction of a second and the elements were made
The bipeds stood up straight, the dinosaurs all met their fate
They tried to leap but they were late
And they all died (they froze their asses off)
The oceans and Pangea, see ya wouldn't wanna be ya
Set in motion by the same big bang!
It all started with the big bang!
@@adrastos9464 Cool story bro. TLDR
I agree X-pac
Netflix should make this a series
Munchies by Vice has a pizza series that was really good with all these places
Why? It's right here and it's free...
DJ Kento it's just a joke bro
Akeel Aslam Well then it looks like 92 people missed the joke.
Anthony rivera 😂😂😂 and counting
I love the idea of taking someone proud of their food and confident enough to take you on a tour of their best competitors as part of the show before finishing at their place! Nice!
sanjuansteve We're not competitors, we are colleagues.
You the man Paulie.
Ya, I love the attitude Paulie!
Sean knows how to ask the perfect questions
Man the dialogue between Paulie Gee and Louis is classic New York conversation between an owner and a customer
This video made me so hungry
Me three ,I'm drowning in saliva :D
Are you still hungry :D ?
bigass197 YES
i am now too
i always wanted try taco bell
Paulie deserves every little bit of praise he receives. His pizza is unmatched and Paulie himself is a guy you just love to be around. Proud to call him a friend of mine. Way to go Paulie!
Paulie Gee is a G.
Stands for "Genius." And many other things.
Gotta hit up Paulie Gee's with ma Gs
Interaction between Paulie and sam's pizzeria owner was enjoyable
"I got no clams" "...fuck" lmao had me rolling. Love the New York Culture especially the Italian folk one love from your Indian brother 🙏🏽
I'm a simple man, I see Sean Evans I click
These guys sound like an episode of The Sopranos 😂
Matt Pritzl loooooooooooooooooooooool
Ironically pizza was invented was in Greece. But the italians added tomato sauce so they get the credit.
MauiWowieOwie focaccia is just an evolution of flatbread which was invented way before the Greeks. Italians invented the pizza we are familiar with today.
The actual pizza, was made in Marseille, south France. Original pizza was only bread tomato and oignon. There is a lot of italian immigrants from Napoli livin in Marseille, and the french added the cheese.
The modern pizza was invented in Naples, Italy. The precursor to pizza was focaccia or flatbread with variable toppings, close but not pizza. These flatbread concoctions have been dated back to 10,000BC. The Italians took an ancient recipe and made it a worldwide phenomenon, this is a cited fact.
I love this episode. I want Paulie Gee to be my grandpa. I had a smile the entire time watching this episode and made me wish I would have gone to Brooklyn last time I was in NYC.
msglenn2581 I'm not old enough to be your grandfather.
True, but the sentiment remains. Loved the video.
msglenn2581 Thanks.
I need to visit NYC just for food
im from nyc and i agree but i bet you got some awesome food spots from wherever youre from
zaparmy2010 crowded, garbage, & rats stealing pizza. NYC sucks!
EmperorBubba I went in 2014, literally ate my fat ass around the whole place - juniors In Brooklyn was a highlight, you'l love it
PersonWithNumber003748182 hell yeah and get faded at night
@EmperorBubba unless it's garbage night. Then it stinks. And if you're lucky you'll see a bum sleeping on the bags.
Absolutely love this guy pauly. He is old school and funny af.
I love Paulie Gee. Hire him. We need more Paulie Gee.
You gotta love a guy that owns his own pizza place and promotes other places like that. And cudos to him for doing that at 54. I am 53 and I couldn't imagine doing something like that.
Sean reppin' Brooklyn with those fresh Timbs I see haha
Conor Doyle air Force 1 wheat
that was enjoyable. two dudes, both of them pretty chill, just having a few slices.
one of my favorite things in the world is the banter between two old men that know eachother
Sean is just such a genuine guy. Fuckin love him no matter what he’s doin.
Paulie Gee is awesome. He comes around to the tables and talks to everyone and he’s just great
Holy shit I love these videos so much. The history, the food, the personalities. Good shit!
Aman !!
what a sweet old man
So cool to see a veteran of the game who cares more about food than competition. He'll talk good about good food, even if technically these guys are competition. It's about the love of a good thing. Beautiful.
I love this! I was born and raised two blocks away from Ninos. Great people own it!!!
thier accents are the best
That guy's great. Can he adopt me as his nephew?
Sean's probably a little busy right now, but it's nice that you'd ask.
I remember Paulie from the forums on Serious Eats back in the day and how he got things together to open his restaurant. Super nice guy and has forgotten more about pizza than I'll ever know. And Sam and Nino's are legit and well worth the trip to Brooklyn.
Paulie is a statewide treasure. So adorable 💗
Loved this episode! So much of pop culture refers to NY pizza. it was awesome to hear somebody so passionate and knowledgable, yet accessible at the same time. And that high praise from Pauly about Sean going big places was awesome!
Paulie G has the best Pizza in NYC. Period.
I swear Paulie can bs me with any speech he throws out any day. Every question he answers is perfectly worded full of heart man...
if John Oliver and Martin Scorsese had a baby.
That's so accurate I need to go lay down for 45 minutes...NO! an hour, a full hour!
hoooly SHIT! you are 100% right
HAHAHAHAHAHHAA
HAhahahaahahahahahahahahha, damn son
Sean in the Wild is my new favorite series
Ok, One criticism.. Sean needs to show his reaction to the pizza he said almost nothing about it and they didn't even show him enjoying the pizza this seems to be the theme in these types of first we feast videos. otherwise good stuff.
I disagree, he's not trying to pass himself off as some sort of expert, he's in it to learn like the rest of us.
barrettdc1 fuck you bud, if he was a poser then he'd be trying to pass it off like he's an expert, which he clearly does not do.
Rawkstar I agree, that was my only problem, it was weird in those silent parts, no reaction on Mike's Hot Honey Sauce... :/
Slow Season ya, he's not trying to be Bourdain or Action, Sean doing his own thing.
Have a fuckin' cry, mate. He's not trying to be someone he's not, but if he was, you'd call him fake. People just gotta be salty over everything.
Pizza is literally my passion! And seeing this video gives me an aura in my soul
this series is still gold saun youre out here doing gods work
I could watch Paulie all day. Great video Sean & gang
The pizza looks great and the company looks like heaven!
episode is full of guys with passion. that makes for the best in people
As someone not native to pizza but love it, I'm always impressed with the variety of pizza you guys have in your country.
I just ate before I watched and now I'm so hungry. Great video. Sean you're THE MAN!
Way better than anything thats available on cable tv. Great Show Sean and crew! Pauly is right when he says your gonna be big, been here since you had 50,000 subs and I thought the same thing then. So glad to see this channel getting the attention it deserves!
love this especially since i live around some of these places, excited to see more of sean doing this kind of stuff.
I love how he switches back and forth from completely wholesome to complete ballbuster seamlessly.
I really REALLY enjoyed this video! A lot of value, interesting history and facts, overall the entertainment was amazing! Thank you so much for what you do and the hard work!
This was straight out of The Sopranos, loved it!!
I've met Paulie twice now and he's such a good guy always making sure customers are happy. Highly recommend visiting the Greenpoint location

Sean you're my favorite host on this complex channel man, shiiiit your my fave on this full RUclips. keep up the good work. 👌👌👌👌👌
What a great episode!
I've been to Paulie Gee's and he was very friendly. He came up to our table and had a conversation with us. Did not know he was the owner until I watched this video. We said we lived in Phoenix and he told us to go to Pizzaria Bianco in Phoenix. He is friends with the owner and claims they make the best pizza in the country. People should definitely try both if they can. Both very delicious!
Man, I´ll watch this from time to time. Pizza is science and art. Thanks for the ride Seaun, really really apreciated it, liked and shared it as much as I could. People have the right to see that video.

Great job Sean. You chose a real character and it made this really enjoyable to watch.
Loved this episode! Paulie Gee looks like a real good guy you can sit and talk to for hours!

Love it, love everything about it.
You know how some people complain about not knowing what to do with their hands?
Sean doesn't have that problem. Love you, Seanie.

The M.K.M. Lmao one day it's going to slow down and you are going to be a fat ass
why is everyone calling me fat?? i'm on a diet because i had surgery assholes...
The M.K.M. the third person that commented wasnt calling you fat he was talking about the person that called you fat. and he's a jerk anyway who hides behind a computer screen so dont worry.

Mmm true Italian pizza...I miss that. My uncle made his family's traditional Neapolitan pizza a lot. Loved it.
I could just watch pizza making all day. As long as I could eat pizza all day.

Ha! Ninos is my pizza spot, 2 blocks away from me. They've been having good pizza for ages. That grandma is always perfect.

the accents are fantastic, great show
Wenger Out!!!
If you know you know 💯💯💯
facts
CHVSE LUPEX trust me. The man's poisoning the club and he's only destroying his own legacy at this point. It's time for the man to go back to France.
Akeel Aslam #WengerOut
God damn Wenger Out is everywhere.
You guys got the right guy to lead the tour.
Paul seems like such a nice guy! Would love to have a slice of pizza with him!
This is art.
Paulie Gees is right near me! Guy is a class act. Went there right before I proposed to my, now, wife.
I wanna watch a Martin Scorsese movie now.
BlurayReviewz this comment is genius
