I love your advocacy!! I don’t have lipedema but I gained a lot of weight due to loss of mobility from chronic sciatic problems. Everyone told me for years to get weight loss surgery for the weight. But no one understood that the weight was not the issue for me. Even at over 400lbs my health, my self esteem, my confidence were ALL still in tact. The weight gain was a byproduct of the sciatic problems and without fixing that, to help fix my mobility, getting surgery to “fix” the weight just to make others happy or feel comfortable just never made ANY sense to me. However, two years ago I had a life saving back surgery that has finally helped with the mobility issues. And 6 months ago, I finally conceded to having gastric sleeve surgery to further help with regaining my mobility. I did it for my mobility, to stop being in constant pain and be able to enjoy and be able to move again. My surgery was never about the size of my body. If fact, I’ve lost over 100lbs (before and after surgery combined) yet I still look the same to me. Others notice the loss, but I don’t. What I do notice is that I can stand for longer, walk for longer, move without relying on my cane, move without severe debilitating pain… those are the goals that I notice and matter to me most. So watching you advocate for your body, your personal decisions, and people in the lipedema community is encouraging. You’re my f-ing role model!! ❤
I to suffer from lymphedema on the right side of my stomach. I had to have emergency surgery due to it rupturing. I had to receive blood before I went into surgery. My doctor removed it successfully, but he told me it was possible that it would return. It's been 4 years 2 months since I had the surgery and it has return on my left side. The only good thing is it's not big like the one that was on my right side. I pray that your surgeries continue to be successful, without any complications, and that it doesn't return back. Thank you for doing this video to educate others who maybe going through the samething you're going through. And to continue to ignore those who doesn't have the knowledge or compassion to understand what you are dealing with ❤❤🥰.
You're making a huuuuge impact by sharing this information and bringing awareness. Thank you for being candid and vulnerable. I pray our wishes come true in getting this procedure covered by insurance 🎉 continue making waves!
Hi just an fyi after I heard a comment you made on one of your videos about finding out how to got your medical equipment/ gear covered. The nurse at your Drs office would be able to fill out a prior approval or precept. The ins company can fax the for to them. They fill that out all the time
Ahhhh I'm so excited for you! ❤ Thankyou for the updates. I had my first consultation today, my first procedure will be in about a month... my surgeon wants to do my lipodema reduction over about six procedures, and I'm grateful that the practice is quite close to my home.
What I am hoping you will talk more about is the swelling and pain from the liposuction, and how it has varied or not since you had your recent leg surgery. I have seen so many women post about longer term pain and swelling from the lipedema nodules removal and it seems like you had 1 video about mld where you showed a pain reaction, and since you have not mentioned it. Has that really been your experience? A couple days of pain and then you are on to the next surgery? If so, please share your secrets? There are so many women in post op pain.
Hey allison I have questions for you is it possible to chat with you? So inspiring what you are doing I think I'm where you were couple of years ago and until I found your videos I had no clue what was happening to me.
I got lipedema on my hole body , rare but yes here i am the thing is i got pcos and hashimoto so i think it played a role in it. I am stage 3 arms legs , got it on my stomach pelvic area and back it really is debilitating. Like in my movements but not also that but in my energy too. Im thinking about getting surgery too and im currebtly searching for a surgeon that i feel comfortable withe :)
I feel for you! My abdomen was my first area and I have it over most of my torso, which my surgeon was suspect of until we met and he checked those areas, because it's rare. Sadly my surgeon says we will have to do my stomach last as the skin is most problematic there (two kids, very bad stretch marks, C-section scar), but I'm looking forward to any improvement anywhere :) The fatigue is the worst part of it, for me.
I'm hoping the lipedema won't come back. Even though you had surgery, your mobility seems to be improving. Actually, it doesn't look like you had alot of swelling. The massages were probably very helpful. It will take time to fully recover. If you're pain is already being resolved, that's wonderful! Prayers for another 🙏 successful surgery and, recovery. I once again apologize for any comments that I shouldn't have made. I didn't mean to put you in the wrong mindset. Take good care of yourself. You got alot of love and, support ❤
I never knew about this illness. Good job teaching us. Sending love.
How does lipodema surgery differ from liposuction?
My prayer goes out to you- God bless you.
