Me too! It was fun to find the source and to chase down the truth about the name Powell gave it. I was so happy to be able to find his original diary online!
You always do very detailed research and this is a very interesting story about the origin of the name. Nice to hear you singing the hymn 🎶 It's also always great to see the historical photos and amazing canyon scenes thrown in.
Thanks so much. I do my best to try to put some content in every video. I recorded the video with my both speaking and singing the hymn, but decided the singing was funnier. Thanks for noticing. I appreciate your watching!
Thanks, I usually do boring, information-heavy videos, so these last two have been an experiment is a little bit lighter approach. I appreciate your watching.
By the way, bright angel always makes me think of Brighty the donkey! I read the book when I was young. My son and I watch the movie once a year or so. My mind goes to burros and mules
There is a bit of a sad twist to the Brighty story, that I hope to cover in a video if I ever get time. I have the book on order at the library and I have never seen the movie, so I will have to look for it too. There is a statue of Brighty in the sunroom at the North Rim Lodge, and people rub his bronze nose for good luck!
