- The first Zimbabwean dollar notes in ten years were released to the public in November 2019. Zimbabwe's government brought back the currency in June this year, after scrapping it in 2009, when levels of inflation became unsustainable. But how did we get to this point? Joice Etutu reports.

I have some old Zimbabwean notes for hundreds of billions of dollars. A nice novelty item, but indicating a tragic inflation.
Anyone else find it strange that she vaguely mentions a "controversial land reform program" occurring in the late 90s.
It’s the BBC. You didn’t really expect honesty from the BBC when anti-White is concerned, did you?
Damn! Girl be selling sunshine looking so fine
She's almost as beautiful as my girlfriend. Damn😍

Oh Zimbos...my ❤ feels for you!
@MATHA NOSHTO-MAN Lay off the drugs, slim. Ok. 🙅🏽♀️
This video is a terrible and misleading explanation.
It wasn't sanctions from foreign countries that led to the crippling economy, it was Mugabe's own terrible dictator policies and fiscal stupidity.
And it wasn't just a "controversial" land reform, they took white farmers' and families' farms away (people who have been living there for generations) using often violent and murderous force. This led to a massive drop in agriculutral output. People couldnt even find bread to buy.
No not really, the congo war fucked me hard, and pushed zim to do land reform
Intresting
Don’t quite understand why they don’t just use the ZAR
I agree
their refusal to use the Rand is politically motivated.. agreeing to use the Rand means they'll surrender command and control of monetary policy and how money circulates in the economy to SA and the SA reserve bank. zim now is one giant ponzi scheme and control of money is their turf
Refusing to use the USD and Rand is that it makes it easier for them to launder the USDs whilst the public uses worthless paper.
If it does that, well they have no say in what they would to consider as their currency.
2008 one hundred trillion dollar notes increased in value.
It is truly amazing that so much was portrayed in so little time. Great job :-)
I like that "land reform" she stated. So much better than saying they slaughtered all white farmers and forced the other ones to leave.
We are suffering
More informational videos like this would be awesome!
Thanks for the feedback!

Fuel shortages are the reason for all this. Every time supply has been higher than the demand in Zimbabwe inflation goes up. Why buy oil from the middle East when Sudan and Nigeria have oil.
Mufaromuzik Yes, but Zimbabwe WAS the breadbasket of Africa and a net exporter of agricultural products-but, almost immediately after the land reforms (she mentioned at the start), the country had to start being an IMPORTER of foodstuffs (truly sad). My mom’s family came from the former Rhodesia and even I feel that the “Old Rhodesia” WAS/IS wrong, but, sadly, the current Zimbabwe is MORE WRONG, since at least nobody starved and the hospitals were all fully functioning.
Beautiful anchor
Could you Go into Detail about the Land Reform, because if Im Not mistaken the White Farmers Made the Food and were in controll of the agrucultere. So Zimbabwe is fault for evicting the White Farmers
She is beautiful!!!!!
She says that agriculture had a sharp decline, yet Zimbabwe kicked out all the white farmers. This is just the country learning from their mistakes
Out with the whites
Lol what did you expect to happen. Dumb fuck. They gave the whites a taste of their own medicine and now they. Cry fowl lmao.
I totally agree. The thing is, it’s STUPID to make such a move without an assessment of the impact or a robust plan to mitigate any negative outcomes. You wouldn’t do that in business and yet the government did that with the whole country. Epic fail 🙄
I’m black by the way. I can’t say I agree with what happened or not but, what I strongly disagree with is the way it was done.
@@mrsa6925 it's just frustrating to hear and hard to empathize with Zimbabwe bc of this. You're totally right regarding business

What is controversial about the land reform and its controversial to who?
Violent mobs looting and ransacking farmland because of the skin colour of the owner is generally regarded as controversial.
so does this mean i can use my 100 trillion dollar bill now ?
Zimbabwe, formerly Rhodesia. Someone commented, think Venezuela or Iran. I'm certain that has nothing to do with Zimbabwes "condition"?
Jerry Samuels And Zimbabwe’s having gone from being the “Breadbasket of Africa,” and a net exporter of foodstuffs to being a net importer of foodstuffs after seizing the farms from PROFESSIONAL FARMERS to give to inexperienced, NON-FARMER indigenous locals SURELY DIDN’T CONTRIBUTE?

Jusr watching this gave me anxiety,
How can you talk about the currency problem without mentioning the sanctions imposed on it, that like talking about Jesus without mentioning the Bible
Zimbabwe just like South Africa and Kenya is an epitome of the legacies of white minority rule and corruption of successive governments. It calls for all stakeholders to genuinely agree forward because leaving such a problem to politicians who are more likely to be bribes by the minority elite to not purse genuine land reform will exercebate ongoing tensions. So it is up to the citizens to decide since no one else will intervene on their behalf.
There's no whites anymore in Zimbabwe, they were either killed or fled. Take your responsibilities and stop blaming scapegoats. The US gave $500 mlns in foreign aid, and $388 mlns in grants, and only imposed sanctions on selected individuals. Plus the blacks caused all this destroying the only productive part of society (white farmers) and the only Infrastructure Zimbabwe has is that from Smith's government 💀
Bring Rhodesia back!
And they tell us that Mugabe was a “hero” who fought imperialism
Who tells you that? No communist has ever been a hero
Who is this Black Beauty 😉

Sibusiso Xaba check out her instagram you will feel better
@Sibusiso Xaba I know the country and its people are struggling but there is nothing that anyone can do to save zimbabwe except for the country's leaders who need to change their selfish ways and stop destroying the country. Imagine the current president's son lives a millionaires life in the USA flaunting money on social media whilst his father continues to exploit the country and its resources. Africans across the continent need to change their ways and show some love and compassion for each other and unite to rebuild this boken continent of Africa.
She married to a white man..
just stop the BS and stick with USD and EUR, why insist on your own currency?!?
This chick is hot 🔥
Solution is simple. Zim is rich in gold. Make a gold backed currency which was also Qaddafi's plan before he was killed
What's the point of this video?
Meanwhile this is a good overview for many African laymen to understand the problem in Zimbabwe.
No. It's terrible.
