This was by far the best video for a book cover. I have watched countless videos and either they talk a mile a minute, or the presenter doesn't talk at all and there is only awful music with finger pointing as to what you should be doing, etc Thank you for helping me to make an awesome Bible cover for my " sword".
Hi Nikki ❤ I watched this video with my 5 year old daughter and she wants to let you know she'd love to see your sewing machine! We're going to try to make this tomorrow! Thank you for the tutorial! 🎉
I was searching for a book cover tutorial and your's popped up. Thank you so much for the very easy to follow instructions! I love the little handles. I made a Bible cover for a senior lady that lives in an assisted living facility and it turned out great. I used Velcro for the closure because I thought it would be easiest for her to manage. I'm excited to give it to her tomorrow!
Just a little tip....It would be so much easier and cleaner if you place the flap magnet on BEFORE sewing into the cover back. That way, it's covered by the right side of the material. Be sure to add a small piece of interfacing or material so that the prongs do not cut into the outer fabric upon usage.
Yeah, that is an option, but the snap will be stronger if it’s through both layers, since it’s going to be pulled on over and over, I thought it might eventually tear through the fabric! I think that was my logic. Interfacing in the tab would help though 👍🏻
This reminds me of a personal notebook I created out of a cereal box for the cover, and rubber bands over the spine, which held folded paper signatures. I sewed the signatures each down their spine on my machine. I could put up to 20 pieces of paper through my sewing machine no problem. When a signature gets used up, it's so easy to slip it out of the rubber band, sew another one, and slip it back under the rubber band. Often I like to use multiple rubber bands and signatures in one book, which can help me organize different types of notes or appointments, especially if I use different paper for it. Sometimes I even like to run my signatures through my machine on a close stitch with no thread, to create perforations near the spine, so individual pages can be torn out neatly. I like sizing my notebooks according to the paper I'm using. I enjoy graph paper, and I fold it in half or in quarters, and make the cover an appropriate size for that. I glued pretty paper to the plain side of the cereal box for the inside cover, then I had the fabric for the outside cover, and I zigzagged around the outside edge to keep the cover firmly attached to the fabric. This makes such a handy notebook to keep in my purse all the time! I also sew an elastic loop on to hold a pen. I love that I can customize it completely, and I feel empowered that I can replace the signatures as often as I need without paying big money to a store to buy them.
Oh my gosh, what a great idea!! I would love to see a picture of this so I can really see what you mean! If you’re willing, could you email me a pic at pincutsew(at)yahoo(dot)com ? No worries if it’s too much hassle :)
@@PinCutSew I wish I could send you pictures, because I really love how it turns out, but I don't have a working camera right now. But I promise you, if you just mess around with the ingredients it's surprisingly easy to create something beautiful and useful. I got the idea from seeing people using Midori traveller's notebooks, and Bullet Journalling, and Junk Journalling, and of course my own love of fabric. To me the point is to use what you have, and expect it to be imperfect because that's the beauty of it! "Perfect" notebooks often don't get used because they are just too pretty to ruin with my bad handwriting or messy notes and doodles etc. But a quickly thrown-together notebook like this is not intimidating. I can abuse it all I want and use it up and make more! I guess the big breakthrough is just realizing you can sew through paper or thin cardboard. After that it's a snap to get creative with it!
I wish I had half this talent, great job how neat 😊 I always get messed up w measurements. Thank u so much for ur tutorial and fingers crossed I can at least sew something that appears as such to what was demonstrated loljk
I know it is lazy, but after turning I just topstitch all the way around about 1/8" seam. I avoid hand needles if at all possibe. Loove this tutorial. Thank you!
I’m 3 years late, I know . . . I like your idea. I don’t think you’re lazy. I do think topstitching adds a nice “tailored” look. I’ll add an extra 1/4 inch to measurement to keep the original size though. How did yours turn out?
I tried making a pattern myself, and it was terrible 😂 I'm a new sewer and I saw this video after watching your Christmas stocking one! Will be buying both these patterns now
Pin, Cut, Sew Good job, you can also reinforce the snap area with scraps on the inside and instal the snap over the scraps of fabric it will make it more secure! Debbie
@@PinCutSew Just place a scrap piece of fabric or interfacing to the back of the fabric, where your snap will go. that will help prevent pulling on single layer of fabric. :)
@@wendyhalonen-dowhan3275 OH, that's an old pattern called the Notetaker by Pink Chalk Studio. You can still buy it here :) pinkchalkstudioshop.com/products/note-taker
Love the Bible cover but I would have put the snap on before sewing the closure part so the prongs were not showing also I would add a piece of felt or some kind of fabric between the snap and book fabric to give it mor strength so not to pull on the original fabric. Over all a great tutorial. Thanks for sharing

I like your presentation. Thank you.

This looks like fun and its perfect for a beginner.
I ordered on your Etsy a Bible cover pattern today. Thank you for this video
Very cool, you did a great job and was easy to follow - wonderful!!
Love that fabric. So pretty. Thanks :)
You can use the bracket as a template to mark where the prongs go when applying the snap. 😊 Great project!
Yes, great tip!
Thank you for this great pattern 16:23
I have made 5 of these. Nice easy pattern. Thanks.
Love this exactly what I want ❤

I love your video❣️ You did an awesome one, you have a lucky daughter ❗️
Love, love,love! Thank you
Perfect! Exactly what I was looking for!!
Ditto
The wrinkled material drove me nuts, but I'm too OCD. Loved the video; one of the best on book/bible cover making on YT. New subbie.
Thank you so much! Sorry about those wrinkles, hahaha!

Love this, thanks for the tutorial
U did an awesome job!
Thank you for the video. Going to try to upload a picture of the one I did!
You could also put a small slim pocket inside for a pen or highlighter.
Easy to understand . A good video.
Best video ever!!!

Very pretty.
Very nice tutorial. I will be making several of these! Thank you. Cheers.
Great Video! Thanks!
Great tutorial thank you so much xx
So glad you found it useful! :)
Thank you! I love it!!!
Did your flap change? Was looking for the "accidental" flower?

I'm so glad you're finding these tutorials helpful! Happy Sewing! :)
Can you make a trifold, zipper, with compartments bible cover with a custom design
Where is your fabric from?
good job. next time put the snap on the flap before closing it up and you can omit having to cover the metal on the back.
That is an option! But it will also pull more on the single layer of fabric when opening it :)
Pin, Cut, Sew Good job, you can also reinforce the snap area with scraps on the inside and instal the snap over the scraps of fabric it will make it more secure! Debbie

Will this work with a bible that’s not hardcover?
could you do a tutorial of a fancier one with a pocket on one side and some ribbon book markers?
Great idea, I'll keep that in mind for the future :)
Hey hey hey?!!!! You showed a book cover with the tie closure and notepad inside, what pattern was that one? Did you make it?

I wondered what pattern that was too..looks useful!
@@PinCutSew It's right at the 13:30 mark. Its so pretty! Did you make that one? I don't think that is your book sleeve pattern.

What is the glue in the bottle called ?
I think you’re talking about the Fray Check :) it dries clear and prevent any raveling.
Nope don’t know how to post a picture. But I still am very happy with my bible cover. Thank you!!!
So glad you liked it!
Not sure if you got my request do you have a site I can follow you on please ☺️
The male or female end of the snap goes on the inside of the flap? Because I cannot see that 😭
The female goes on the snap, but it doesn’t matter much 👍🏻
Can I snip the corners before I sew the Bible cover ?
No, I’d for sure trim them after you sew.
what supplies are you using ? What brand of rotary cutter and what is the name of the large clear ruler you are using please?
Hi! The fabric is used is called "duck cloth" and the big clear ruler is called a quilting ruler :)
💕
Do you have a site I can follow you on please ❤️
My husband uses these plans from Stodoys plans and is very happy with them. However. I love yours!
