For me,she is the best.
In the past few weeks, I have been listening to all these performances in the background while I work. Whenever something sounds really good, I tend to check the pianist's name, and most of the time, it seems to be Aimi Kobayashi.
Ex equo 1 place with Bruce. Bruce might be perfect, but scale of emotions in Aimi performance goes beyond comprehension.
She is the best
No. 4 in E minor 00:35
No. 16 in B flat minor 2:57
No. 17 in A flat major 4:06
No. 23 in F major 7:43
No. 24 in D minor 8:49

Bruce is excellent, but because of some inner... resonance. I would invite Aimi to play on my wedding, birthday and funeral. The truth and beauty simply shines forth!
Nobody plays prelude better than she does
Listen to Blechacz
The more I listen to Aimi, the more I think prize ranking doesn’t matter. I have listened to classical music all my life and played a fair bit of piano in my student days as an amateur. I have ears and so do the other fans too. I’m still scratching my head why someone got the top prize.
Aimi, ganbade!
@ Sing TAT …
And that’s why you are an amateur.
And the only contest you’re capable of judging is the Gong Show…
@@LC-ig2jm be my guest and take my five cents :-;
Should have the best prelude prize for her
Yes! Prelude Godess
Cannot agree any more
She's a very sensitive artist! With a deep, intense, poetic sound! and a whole personal sound universe! So happy to have discover this wonderful pianist! Thanks to Chopin institut!
She is the best.
I'm still processing how Aimi Kobayashi got 4th as I personally felt she deserved 3rd or higher. Either way, winning a prize in such a prestigious and extremely intense competition is an amazing feat and accomplishment that only a few pianists worldwide would be able to experience and hold. Congrats again!!
she reapply again on competition to have 1st prize. It is allowed to give first prize to two pianists. So we have to give her first position for ambition and what she wants. There is still 19th Competition for her.
She deserve 3rd!
Bruce deserved 1st. And Sorita should be 2nd.
She is wonderful!
Participants must be ready to accept winning or defeat in any competition. Never join any competition if one is not ready mentally. This specific competition is very tough...the best player in certain season NOT necessarily awarded as the gold medalist if the jury feel no one deserve it....NO gold medal awarded in 1990,1995 for example. Only silver medalist. So the winner is a compromise decision of 16 juries consisting of previous winner, professors, world class pianist etc from different background, different countries and judging the participants from every angle. Because the winner will be carrying a very heavy burden....concert tour, studio recording, guest artist, seminars etc etc practically the whole year. So the winner must be ready mentally and physically to do all these engagements,be inspired in order to be able to perform well and satisfy the audience who always demand for perfection. A hard work and stressful job indeed.
In my book.. she was far and away the best all around pianist of the lot.
Nah, Martín deserved it more
Congratulations Aimi,
I was very impressed with your beautiful performance !
yes
She is such a great pianist, and can.played beautifully, but looked rather sad and unhappy. I watched her recording at the prior competition 5 years ago. She was smiling, much livelier. She seemed to have more joy and sparks then. Wonder why so much difference in her look now.
She was happy *before* placing 8th. That was a tough year for her and she almost quit the piano 😬
Aimi Kobayashi

she has been touched by chopins soul
I always cry with her. She is magic and I'm agree no matter who wins. All of them are such incredible musicians and persons. Thankyou Aimi ❤️😭

No.4...a perfect response, a silent conversation.
Aimi, eres tremenda! Gracias Chopin, y gracias Aimi... Arigato! 💕💞🎵🎶🌻☺️💓
Great !
Bravo Madame !
Very expresive, powerful, dynamic performance... but sensible as well!
Simply Wonderful! Thank You so much
*So wonderful!! :)*
Belíssima sonoridade! Técnica límpida e fulgurante! Sublime execução!
10:41 It's amazing how she overcomes the disadvantage in handspan there.
Kobayashi plays the right hand with the nuance of a singer! I don't know what attack and pedaling can accomplish this but she makes an easys piece which is true adult philosophy-meaning music into a true test of rubato line and left hand voiced chords and the pedalling is a near miracle . I've been watching her videos since she was a child so I'm not too surprised to see her . I hope all is ok- she looks unhappy I hope Covid hasn't harmed anyone she knows .
This was the most kick-ass programming of the Preludes I've ever heard
She brings a visceral, introverted, tragic, Chopin spirit that no one else brought
The opening of the E minor feels like she is playing the last concert anyone will ever play....
Then gunshots into the Bb minor - insane..!!!
Mr Sorita and Aimi Kobayashi deserved better.
Thanks, Amy, you até a fantastic Chopin’s interpret!! Nice cateter!!❤️❤️🌹🌹👏👏👏
Sorry, nice carreer🙏
One new God of the piano!!!!
you nailed it!!!
Congrats my dear, from La Paz, Bolivia
I am always very touched when I listen to Aimi.
Poetry at absolutely the best!
She is a stunning player. She’s sharing a story, rather then just telling it.
Very beautiful
Wonderful.
Thank you Aimi! ❤ - 🤍🖤🤍🖤🤍
I think that to play music is to play like her.
This performance gave me chills 🤩
What's awesome is how this young Asian girl plays with such passion at her own tempo .. while the Latin contestants practice their robotics ...
Anyone else catch that? So much for Latin owning passion
Aimi and Fazioli makes a perfect combo. Lovely performance as always. Also, I love those aerial shots during the d minor prelude - you can tell she owns that instrument 💪
Gratuluję! ¡Enhorabuena! 🌹
Just Beautiful
Amazing talent.
Brava
Aimi always looks sullen and bitter to my, for some reason. As if she were on a mission to win a prize in the competition to redeem herself…but from what? She was still a finalist in 2015. I just feel as if this quest made her so intense. I hope she can relax and enjoy her art.
The same thing has happened to me, watching her play in the different stages of the contest with a certain bitterness and tiredness of not having the recognition that she thinks she deserves, and she deserves it by the way, but at the same time that anxiety or anguish I think plays in her favor and adds a dramatic component at the time of playing the piano, I perceive a mixture of anguish, fed up, anxiety, melancholy, in a cocktail that works in some way
Beautiful Music Hands!
In my mind, Aimi is the first prize winner.
BRAWO ! ❤️❤️❤️
❤❤❤❤
17 A flat 🌹
Preludia w Jej wykonaniu były przepiękne
She did amazing play in Prelude. I do not know any other better prelude played than Aimi. But concerto in Final was in one of average class.
In my point of view the first person was the best
This past competition was really a tough one! She deserved top position but then again few others did too!
😍😍😍
For me, only Aimi Kobayashi ... And the Jury? At a certain age, it is not only cars that should not be driven ...
Absolutnie nr 1 (ex aequo z panem Liu) tego konkursu!!! Państwo jurorzy - wstyd.
There is no shame that should be directed to the Jury... Bruce is superior in his touch and understanding of Chopin's nuances in my opinion... He deserves the 1st prize and international recognition.
@@ryanli5222 he definitely deserves the first prize and he has plenty of charisma , personality and the ability to draw the audience into his performance . The standing ovations after his performances speak for themselves .
a unique and reticent rendering of the main melody as though sad, withdrawn and........not ALLA GERMANIC: melody only SOOOO LOUD while all other parts of the piece are essentially ignored.
Nice necklace
Would love to know what Aimi thinks about the Fazioli vs. the Steinway she used for the competition. I guess for this concert they defaulted to the winner's piano?
11:13 waited too long there
But I can't believe someone small like her can reach the LH part 🥲
You say she waited too long, but I'd say it made me hold my breath what was going to happen next, and the final descent into the final low three notes, rung like death tolls , each subtly softer than the one before, the sound of resignation ... she gives the passage a refreshing perspective from the showy ending that others give it, hers is the best ending I've heard of this prelude and set.
@@frantark2535 I like the pause, it's great, but the descending passage after (especially the first 4 notes) took too long (not sure if it's intended for tension or for safety in order to not hit wrong notes. For me, it lost the flow. I would connect the D minor chord to the first Bb (finger 5 to 4) instead of stopping for too long, separating and accenting the Bb. Anw, that's just my take on this piece. Maybe I heard too much Seong Jin Cho.

Cos pieknego....
Dansa macabra
Szopen nie zagrałby tego lepiej...,
Millions of Asians suffered under Japanese imperialist rule. They were murdered, subjugated, experimented, raped, etc. I hope the Polish people understand what Chinese, Koreans, Filipinos, Indonesians, and others went through. They were stripped of their human rights, livelihood, and even talent like this weren't even available to them. The Japanese took it all from them. The Polish would know this from WWII. It's important to recognize the past to prepare for a better future. But, the Japanese government still deny to this day their wrongdoings. Cabinet members shifting their stance on the topic left and right. It's so shameful.
Brilliant!
