What if Sonic 3 had ONLINE MULTIPLAYER Mode? | Part 1

- Sonic 3 in single player is great, but with more players? It's INSANE!
Let's revisit that amazing title but with more craziness, difficult to choose between Sonic or Knuckles' story? No problem, they are mixed together! Bossfights and cutscenes will get a new twist!
And guess what? The full game will be revisited! (Sonic 3 & Knuckles) so, this mini animated series will be divided in four parts! (yeah not 3 ;( ).
Yeah, you read well, it's not actual gameplay unfortunately, 100% animated on Adobe Flash/Animate.
I tried to get as close as possible from the original game, but limited by time and probably motivation, I did not put all details correct at 100% (I'm speaking of color cycles, palette changes, and the animations are not pixel perfect to the real game).
I hope you will love that concept, just note that other episodes will come later, because my other projects passes in priority (such as TSA Season 2).
I used the name of 3 popular Sprite animators by the way, you will understand why ;) (it was just to make the thing a bit more fun, nothing else.)

This is a 2D Sprite Animation,
Thanks to the team of artists and rippers, I could get and animate everything exclusively from The Spriters Ressource Website! All credits belong to their respective submissions and most importantly SEGA and the Sonic Team for making the game.

From what it seems from how different the multiple Knuckles and Tails act from each other, there seems to be only 4 players:
Sonic (& Tails AI)
Tails
Knuckles
Knuckles (& Tails AI)
There's a Tails that acts like a player, while the other two follow a Sonic and a Knuckles respectively; Knuckles (& Tails AI) is taking the normal Sonic path, meanwhile Solo Knuckles is taking the Knuckles path.
Is this true? Or are there just 6 players?
They're most likey teams, like Sonic Heroes. As i saw 3 tails on screen.
Yeah you got it, I thought there's so many players but I realized the other tails' (except the one is a player) are bots

This seems fairly accurate, specially since the Sonic player could control Player 2, which means that one is definitely an AI.
Weirdly enough nobody picked Sonic alone during multiplayer.
(If nobody knows what I mean by that, it's just Sonic but Tails doesn't follow him making some parts of S3 a challenge)
I like the detail of the “Players” changing color depending on who got the last hit on the boss!
We need to know who killed the boss so that detail helped us know who got the final hit.

Amazing animation, it feels so alive and seems like an actual thing that would happen during a multiplayer version of sonic 3 (& knuckles).
From the stealing of item boxes, spamming crouch, one lagging behind, one going way too fast, multiple routes, that one guy hellbent on getting the chaos emeralds, tails ai spawning out of thin air,neat little details and references to other people's animation.

Another small thing is the paths that the players take, the sonic and tails combo, the solo tails, and the knuckles and tails combo all take sonic’s path through the game, while the solo knuckles takes knuckles’ path, which makes sense, since a knuckles with tails could take some of the paths that only sonic can take, for example, near the end of Angel island act 1, there is a point where knuckles bashes through a wall to get to his version of the miniboss, while sonic and tails take the path above, knuckles cannot take sonic’s path because he can’t jump high enough, but if he has tails, he can (yes I know he can get up there in his hyper form, but that’s a bug) same with the path split in launch base act 2.
Haha, this is amazing! I loved your "Sonic Mania Online" video so much and I'm glad you put this together. Sonic 3's gotta be one of my top favorite Sonic games.
I've always had a habit of standing on the side walls in the Hydrocity Act 1 Miniboss just to see Sonic slide down at 4:06, and seeing 4 people slide down was lowkey satisifying to me lmao.
And Patafoin saying "Haha, reminds me of something" for the Player 2 control, referencing the "Tails keeps Sonic alive" Series he made, probably one of the first few sprite animations I watched and loved a while back and glad to see a little nod back to that after a long time.
All in all, great animation, can't wait for the other parts.

Lets also talk about the fact the only unique character here is Sonic out of the group with two tails and two knuckles (Sonic & Tails counts as a character pair - one character)

Sonic 3 A.I.R is currently being worked on to have Multiplayer mode.
The New update 23.11.18 added some options to the Multiplayer mode:
-Visibility of the other player ( Opaque - Semi transparent- Ghost).
- Sync your location with other players.
Therefore, if they added those options ,that must mean they are working on Multiplayer untill now.
So one day its going to be a reality.

(Knuckles Only)Having a very bad time/a player that started playing for the first time
