There is nothing any prettier than all one jars full of home canned food lined up on shelves. My husband & I were married 51 yrs before the Lord took him home & I canned everything most of r marred life & loved it.
My parents would have a full wall in the basement of canned tomato juice, mushrooms, apple sauce, salmon, and lesser amounts of other produce. Security
I was watching your video from April 14 I believe, and you were taking down laundry from the clothes line. It brought back memories of my Mom hanging the laundry out daily, we didn’t have a dryer for a long time. When I got married we moved to Idaho and had what’s being called now a homestead. Back then it was just our home on 2 acres we chickens and rabbits and 3 goats. It was so fun I loved it. I always hung my clothes on the line throughout the summer they just froze on the line in winter. I taught myself to can . And we bought little chicks and I hand raised them because our brooder broke so I cleared out a space in a spare room and when they got old enough put them In the chicken coup. Fun times and memories with my oldest daughter only 2 when we moved in there.
Im so glad I came across your channel. I pray that the Lord will continue to bless your family and provide and renew your strength. I don’t homestead, I wish i could but you have inspired me to be a better mom.
What a beautiful thing to do saying GRACE. By saying GRACE the vibration and energy of the food and water Changes. The molecules and particles turn positive. Healthier for the mind body and soul. Well Done Lady. God Bless You and Your family.
I didn't hear about the challenge at the beginning. Live in NC, and much of our spring garden started producing in July and ended half way in to Aug. In total I did up about canning about 250 jars. Green beans, mixed veggies for stew, catsup, chili sauce, taco sauce, salsa, tomatoes juice, sauce stewed and diced plain and Rotel style, baked beans and honey from our hives.
So beautiful!! My Mother canned for all of her life!!! I never in my life could do it!! Ya’ll are amazing. Let me tell you this is what I call Hard Labor!!! And, you are teaching your children. Blessings.
New here to your channel. Texas okra here doesn't die we grew it one year n it kept coming back we brush hog n finish mower down for 2 yrs we don't eat that amount okra the plants grew 6'4 tall so yep no more okra finally, I'm 6'3 so I had pick from plants. I'm also in texas.
I have really enjoyed this month of preservation! You have inspired me, even though circumstances have limited the amount of actual home preservation I can do this year. I love my the way you involve your kids too. Thanks so so much for sharing ❤️
You are AMAZING!!!!! Truly an inspiration. You have gotten me motivated again. I have raised my kids, homeschooled, gardened, canned, farmed and still do some of it but with a slower, more chore like attitude. After watching your videos the last two weeks, I am trying new recipes again, I started seeds in jugs like you, I made a breakfast casserole last night for today and have applesauce in the crockpot which cooked overnight to can. Thank you for bringing joy back into every day things that have to be done anyway. I watch your videos to start my day every morning with my notebook. LOVE your ideas and recipes. Thank you so much for sharing your life! Your family is precious and you are doing an absolute wonderful job!! God Bless You!
I loved watching your video and you have a great amount of storage!! I just want to suggest you put something across each shelf so that if there is an earthquake/tremor your jars will not end up on the floor! You could just screw a thin piece of timber across each shelf and the ends!! You will still be able to see your jars! I live in New Zealand and we have had 2 big earthquakes and a friends whole pantry ended up on the floor smashed! They lost all their storage! Great job !!!
I'm getting so excited about this yrs challenge. Although, I have been busy with the garden harvest. It has gotten to the point the my sweet hubby has started asking "what are you canning today"? I sure do love him. ❤️
TRUE about hot peppers in the dehydrator! Years ago, I decided to make habanero powder, thus sliced them up and put them in the dehydrator.... bad, bad, bad move to have it in the kitchen!!! The good thing was that by the time we could go back inside, there wasn't a bug alive!
You had a very productive week and your helpers were amazing. Knowing that you will have fresh food for the winter says it all. God Bless and thank you for sharing.
Love your videos! I made peach butter in my slow cooker, let them cook on Low covered overnight, then took the lid off and cooked down all day. Added some spices and canned after dinner.
Hi Jessica! Peach season is upon us in the south, today I am thankful for this video! When I process my peaches this year I plan on making some vinegar with the scraps. I wash my hair with Dr Bronners and usually rinse with ACV, but this might smell nicer! Thanks for all the wonderful wisdom!
Excellent! looking forward to seeing how you use the preserved food! thank you for sharing with us! May God bless you and your family! Only thing I would do different is not using raw local honey in any thing that you bring to a boil like jelly or jam as that is killing the goodness in it. At least that is what I have been taught and I have been beekeeping for about 10 years now and do not heat it up even going to adding it to tea once it has cooled down a bit. I have learned so much from you and really enjoyed your homesteading math! I just knew it was saving us money but have never had the time to do the figuring. :) I learned about your challenge through your friend Sarah of Living Traditions. Any recommendation from her is high praise indeed and I have found your content worthy of her praise. Havelock Ontario Canada
This inspired me to restart my canning. I struggled this past year with everything that is going on and have just been freezer stashing what I can. Since starting to watch this 3 weeks ago I have been find the motivation to get something done each day. I’ve roughly worked through an entire counter’s worth of tomatoes. With spiced tomato soup in the crockpot cooking down. Thank you for showing all the small steps, harvest season can be so daunting to get canned.
Good job ! Love all your videos. U r such an inspiration. I made soup from leftovers in frig & pork butt roast broth & it was absolutely wonderful. Campbells b calling me for inspiration but u r my inspiration. Thx u
Yay! I love watching all these! I was so sad it was over! I would love to keep watching how you preserve different things and also how you use them through the winter! Ty for all you share! 💞
This has been a great month. 👍 Thank you so much and the children who helped you.. It was a nice to see and enjoy. You have a blessed family. God-bless you and keep you safe.
Years ago, a farmer's wife friend of mine encircled their large garden with 5ft of 1/4" hardware cloth about 3 feet deep. That stopped ground hogs, voles, moles and mice. Rabbits & deer were kept out when her husband put up another layer of 1/2 inch hardware cloth above ground.
This 79 year old excepted the challenge and have had so much fun! I have always gardened and canned, so it sure wasn’t hard to do the challenge! Just found your channel, but have followed Sara and Kevin at living traditions since they moved to Their homestead.
Wow soooi enjoyed an the children are precious been following you an family for over year an Precious Benjamin growing leaps an bounds sooo precious as are the girls an boys!! As another subscriber said you represent Proverbs 31!! Grace abounds here an looking forward to Next Video Thursday !! God Bless Janie D🙏🙏🙏
I just came here from Acre Homestead! I love you! I also like using up every bit of food. I am not on a homestead. Hope to someday and I am in my early 60's. Homeschooled my children as well.
Sarah with Living Traditions Homestead recommended your videos. Your tutorials are so valuable in this day and age. Thank you for sharing your love for preserving. May God continue to bless you and your beautiful family.
I have so enjoyed watching your preservation series for August. I also appreciate you sharing how you plan to use the things you preserve. I’m inspired to consider new things to preserve and utilize in our home. What a joy and blessing you are, thank you.
So glad I found your channel! Im ready to dive into preserving more food! I love to grow, but I grow more than we can consume in a summer, & a lot goes to waste & I really hate it. I've always been intimidated by it. I love how well behaved your children are & how helpful they are! Would love to hear some tips on that! Haha!
I'm enjoying this so much and learning a lot..I hope you can get rid of the voles. I live in the city and haven't seen them yet that I know of. We did have rats Ugh!! saw one on my porch this summer as I was bringing in groceries had left a bag with a bag of pasta on my rocking chair went to pick up the bag and out he popped I don't know who was more scared him or me. With having a big green bean garden this year I think it attracted them and not as many feral cats around. Lesson learned though don't leave any food on the porch not even for a minute. Anna In Ohio
My goal is to live like this... its a very slow start from nothing .. but I'll get there. I love what you do. I don't want to have to pick a day to make a pie. I would love to just say meh I think I'll make a pie today(scratch). Thanks for your videos
This challenge has been so wonderful! Thank you for your leadership 💗 Gracie did a great job stringing up the cayenne peppers! We call them ristras here in New Mexico. Many people use them as decorations during the Fall season. So beautiful!!
It has been nice to see someone pressure canning. I have always been super intimidated by it because I've never seen anyone do it. You made it look so simple.
This was so much fun. I loved this challenge, Thank you so much for this. And I've learned so much on different preserving methods. And my pantry is overflowing, amazing how it adds up so fast. My garden is still going strong, Sept 1 didnt stop the harvest. I'm still going strong, and having my husband build me extra storage space. What a blessed year. Thank you again for putting this challenge out there.
I did not rad all the comments but I have a tip for the moles/voles. We live in NH and have tried all the tricks, best advice was wrigglers gum. Buy a yellow pack of gum and break a half piece in the holes. The varmints do not like the gum or I guess if they eat it they get sick and go somewhere else. Worth a try next season
Love your videos and how much love you put into everything. Your children are so helpful and you can tell they just love being where you’re at and helping out. Thank you for being so inspiring. May God bless you all!
I've loved these videos. I'm so excited about the new videos on Sun and Thurs. Gracie is so beautiful and such a great helper as are all your children. They are growing weekly seems. Be blessed.
Search for "can't fail" pie crust recipe. It's the easiest one on the planet. My 15 yr old grandson has been making it for the past couple of yrs. Good luck.
Hello (^-^)/ I really like your Videos And Happy Birthday Gabriel, I hope he had fun at his big Day Oh dear how the time flys ^^ little Ben got so big ^^ and he is walking too
When I was younger my Dad planted hundred of cayenne pepper bushes.. and we string them the same way and made our powder when they were tried… FYI you can freeze those cayenne peppers as they are.. I put them in all the little spots my freezer has.. when needed I cut what I need from it (frozen as it is) and put the rest back in the freezer..
I love all of your videos, but these kind of videos from these last few weeks have been SUCH a blessing!!! I've had it on my heart to start canning for the last TWO YEARS but have been too afraid to actually do it. I know that sounds silly, but it's true. Watching how you do it has helped push me forward and I'm going to start this weekend. Aside from that tho, I love all the other ways you've shown to preserve food. I always thought it needed to be a huge process with huge amounts of food and huge yields, but you've shown me that TRULY, every little bit counts! So THANK YOU, from the bottom of my heart! God bless!
I use raised garden beds with chicken wire/hardware cloth underneath to keep out gophers and then put chicken wire around the beds to keep out bunnies and ground squirrels etc.
I enjoy all of your videos, they are so well done! I think you should have been a teacher you are so good at explaining everything. Blessings to you and your family.
I enjoyed watching your project. I used to try and fill my water bath canner to maximize every canning session, because it took so much water and time to boil all that water. When steam canners were tested as safe, I bought one and haven't looked back. I gave away my water bath canner. I can easily do small batches of canning with the steam canner, no need to worry about filling it up with canning jars. It uses so little water compared to water bath canning, so that it heats up fast, and is easy to lift. Since you do so many small batches I think you might find it handy!
So delighted to find your channel! I live west of Columbus so not too far away in Ohio! Your videos are a joy to watch and family is lovely. Thanks for great content!
I loved the challenged thank you so much. I did preserve at least once a week. Today was my last day to prepare corn for the freezer. I’m gonna try to do it more often. Even thought is not homegrown but if it’s on sale it’s a good way to preserve right!❤️❤️
Your videos inspired me to take part in this challenge. Each item preserved is a blessing. I continue on as you do into September as my tomatoes are abundant! Blessings to you and your sweet family. Lisa in Illinois

Sorry for your loss.
I bet he appreciated every jar you canned!
I only just found you three days ago and I have learned so much. You are one resourceful lady. Your family is so fortunate to have you.

The words “lets make pie crust” strikes fear in my heart🤪
Lol
It couldn't be easier!
Search for "can't fail" pie crust recipe. It's the easiest one on the planet. My 15 yr old grandson has been making it for the past couple of yrs. Good luck.
I have failed at every fail proof recipe in the universe😄 I have accepted my failure and now provide jobs for Pillsbury pie crust makers👍🏼
Love this!! Your family is truly blessed to learn this skill!

A string of peppers makes a great Xmas decoration.
Love watching you preserve. Such a sweet family!
I loved the challenged thank you so much. I did preserve at least once a week. Today was my last day to prepare corn for the freezer. I’m gonna try to do it more often. Even thought is not homegrown but if it’s on sale it’s a good way to preserve right!❤️❤️
You are a wonderful mother. May the Lord bless you.
Yes loved this video
I love your channel! You are all awesome .
Thank you for sharing by the way!!
You brought back memories of my youngest eating my tomatoes in the garden while I worked when he was a toddler. Had to keep an eye on him lol.
Thank you for new ideas. I get in a rut preserving my harvest the same way every year.
Your videos inspired me to take part in this challenge. Each item preserved is a blessing. I continue on as you do into September as my tomatoes are abundant!
Blessings to you and your sweet family.
