He was always evil, even when he ended up being tortured he blamed Guts for that and wanted to hurt him way before eclipse.
Nope, he was just mad at him for leaving without elaboration and abandoning Griffith for so long. Griffith acknowledged his own mistakes and responsibility in his inner dungeon monologues.
Griffith hesitated in strangling Guts at the first sight of Guts in tears. He then immediately hesitated and caressed Guts’ arm out of compassion to comfort him. Human Griffith was ultimately unable to hurt Guts out of spite as a human because he possessed the necessary love and compassion to OVERCOME those hateful feelings. This is taken away from him in the transformation when his “heart is frozen,” leaving only his darker half as Femto.
Human Griffith and Femto are not the same, and Griffith was once the most morally upstanding and empathetic character in the series.

I see what you're trying to explain but your videos alone and the fact that you are biased af regarding Griffith makes almost everything you say invalid, you're not being objective here. Also saying that Griffith and Femto are "two different people" is messed up an wrong. Femto is the ultimate product of Griffith's intention and decisions, it's HIM. So don't relativize the things he clearly did. He had an ultimate goal for which he was able to sacrifice everything else. This didn't happen by accident but by CHOICE. I also understand his motives and maybe in his situation I would have done the same, who knows, but that doesn't make it automatically right. I understand what and why he did it but I am still against it because in the end it's still selfish and f'ed up significantly. So don't go around and try to brainwash people with your L opinion, nobody likes weirdos like you. Maybe you even have a Griffith complex, that'd be even more funny, you internet cowboy.

Griffith didn't become evil he already was evil it's why we did not get to see his perspective at all during golden age he was just beautiful and kind on the outside until we saw guts leave him and the first thoughts from this great and beautiful leader we saw was that if he could not own Guts then no one could that Guts was better off dead if he did not belong to Griffith.
The way that Griffith looked down on his own people was why Guts left him in the first place, these were is plain thoughts that he let slip.
Griffith held himself far above his people he thought very little of those loyal to him there was no compassion for them they were just things he owned; toy soldiers and you can't think like that w/o being evil.
Maybe its because i watched the 2018 version and not the manga but he came off as pretty straight forward with his intentions telling guts that he was his ordering him to assassinate the uncle of Charlotte ordering casca to lie with guts because that was her duty the biggest tip off was the dream spiel he gives the princess its at that moment that guts felt disillusioned with the whole thing because he wanted to be a friend and not just a soldier he wanted to be equal to griffith but griffith already had that attitude that nobody was an equal everyone was an aide to help get ahead
the thing is, griffith never really turned evil, he was always evil,
the creepiest thing about the eclipse is that it isn’t an extraordinary event brought as a twist that no one could predict, but in actuality, the eclipse is the natural conclusion for someone like griffith
all the battles the hawks fought, all the deaths and suffering, all the sacrifices, it was all the same pre eclipse and during it, the eclipse was just a fast forward button, a macro scale of griffith's quest as compared to the micro scale leading up to it.
griffith has never changed, from his first appearance in the golden age up until he became femto, he was the exact same person

he is *STILL* a narcistic femboy who murders people in order to become king. The only difference is that the eclipse revealed who he was deep down.
One of the most underrated scenes in Berserk is when Ricket finds out what Griffith did while he is horrified, he isn't really that surprised. Ricket has been with Griffith longer than anyone and he admits that he always knew that Griffith had his "shady side."

Because he was always a pure manipulator. Sociopath. He was showing those traits from the start. But few noticed. For example when he said to Guts "You are mine now" because he saw the use in him for serving his goals. Or that speech with princess, he never saw the Hawks as equals to him. He had no emotion's towards them, only ambition to reach his desires.. and once that dream was almost shattered he was ready to sacrifice anyone that followed and admired him in order to reach his goals. He was always the same... People say it was a BIG plotwist but personally it didn't surprise me at all. He was a sociopath and evil from the start until the very end.
