    Hands down the cookiest, most baseless Berserk theory is the idea that Skull Knight is King Gaiseric. Which makes no sense. Miura has made absolutely no hint that the two are related. @@eduardoledesma5568 wait, you're serious?
      For sure, Griffith changed after the eclipse, but not because he was possessed by a demon. He changed because he lost his "human" side, his "weakness". That's basically what becoming an apostle/a member of the godhand means.
      The entire point is that humans all have it in them to be monsters, even Guts as we see is tempted by his inner beast to do horrible things. When one becomes an apostle he doesn't become more evil, he simply loses the humanity that was letting him resist his darkest urges.
      A demon needing Griffith's body would contradict all that we know and is never even mentioned or alluded to, and it would make Griffith irrelevant (if the demon just needs a physical body, which he doesn't even get in the eclipse, would Griffith really be important and protected by causality?)

      Well, I subscribe to this theory due to two main reasons;
      1. Casca has lost her memory of what Griffith did to her. She has some flashbacks about horrible daemons but she has yet to see flashbacks of Griffith in that state. She solely remembers that Griffith was tortured beyond belief.
      2. Griffith is inhabiting the moonlight child's body, basically possessing it whenever the full moon is not out. This could confuse Casca's parental love in many ways.
      3. Griffith has been shown to have basically brainwashing effects on the people around him. It is possible it can effect Casca.
      4. Remember, Casca has not had time to have dealt with the pain and trauma, so she has basically been reset to pre-eclipse Casca. She is, practically, the same person as she was when she was leading the band of the hawk and idolizing Griffith.
      I strongly believe that Miura was going to have Casca leave with Griffith, or at the leave least TEASE it. Remember, Griffith is so petty, so absolutely inhuman, that it is definitely within his character to try and steal away Casca now that she is "sane" again. Just to get another one over on Guts; a final and disgusting act by that psychopath.

      The only way for him to even try to challenge Griffith was to become something more than an apostle, something different.

    My biggest theory is that Zodd was one of, if not, the first Apostles created. I say this mostly to hype him up, but also because his age is vague. If Skull Knight (as King Gaisarek) was at least 800-1000 years old and Zodd keeps referring to him as old friend, then there should be some deep history beyond Skull Knight fighting Zodd while trying to get to void. Zodd is also familiar with the Berserk armor before Gaisarek died. My last point is that Zodd stated after seeing Griffith’s behelit that he recalls a scenario fate was playing at for Griffith to become Femto. I believe his recollection of this series of events prompted him to be able to tell Guts his “prophecy”. Just as Skull Knight did later in the story. As the story developed and I matured along with it, I couldn't imagine Guts and Griffith ever actually killing each other. If you're interested, I'd love to discuss this idea with you more - but it comes down to destiny not playing out what it was meant to because of key variables. I know that has nothing to do with the video, but I guess it plays into theories I've seen that either apply a simplistic outcome or a completely depressing one.

      Completely agree with you! They would definitely be facing each other at some point, but the story is not about killing anymore. I'm sure if you look closely at Guts behaviour in Elfhelm, you would think that maybe Guts himself doesn't know if he wants to pursuit his revenge or not. Unlike his beast of darkness, though.

    • @Thefufflylord
      @Thefufflylord 2 года назад +24

      @@АндрейДвуличанский-я7е Honestly, I had this idea that Griffith arrives at Elfhelm and asks Guts to accompany him back to Falconia. Griffith shows Guts what he's doing, uniting the world and creating a utopia. Guts isn't convinced and asks if Griffith is planning to sacrifice his kingdom just like he did "The Hawks". Griffith is genuinely confused, displaying some actual emotion, after all this is what he wants.
      Guts challenges this, asking Griffith if he is content - following on from themes throughout the series. Finally, Griffith asks "Why did you leave the Band of the Hawks?"
      That's when Guts admits he heard Griffith say at the fountain with Charlotte - about what Griffith considers a friend. Guts felt to be seen as Griffith's equal, he needed to have his own destiny and ambition.
      Griffith listens and then he begins to laugh. He laughs and laughs and laughs. But understand, this isn't Femto laughing, this is Griffith - this is the old Griffith who never truly died because the sacrifice was never actually completed (as both Guts and Casca escaped). And Griffith admits to Guts, "I always considered you my friend. You were my only equal."
      And now, Guts laughs, because how could he not? Everything they went through, all this misery, all this pain, the death, the carnage - all because they didn't just talk to each other and because of a misunderstanding.
      Sorry for my mini-essay, fanfic, this is only part of what I imagine, but I think there is some merit to it.

Guts doesn't forgive Griffith, can't forgive Griffith, but given everything which has happened I could see Griffith and Guts finding humour in all of it - one of those, what else can you do but laugh? I think that in the End Guts realises that his quest for revenge on Griffith won't really accomplish anything and if Griffith is using his power for "good" becoming the God that people desire, then I see the two having peace with each other. Keep in mind, this is just Griffith and Guts, others might feel differently.
      I don't believe at this point Griffith wants to kill Guts, in fact, I don't think he ever did. As for Guts, how can he kill Griffith now considering Griffith is now literally his and Casca's child? I think the real unsung hero Berserk is the egg of the Perfect World. I've often wondered how much he changed Berserk... Honestly, I find him to be a fascinating character and I would go so far as to say he is the only genuinely good and pure character in the story and world of Berserk.

      @Rdwd19 2 года назад +17

      @@Thefufflylord Pursuing the revange on Griffith, Guts would only become Griffith's equal - which in this case would be huge stepdown. Through moving on, and accepting people he loves instead of those he hates, he would ultimately grow. Griffith's punishment would be living in the world where he will never be connected to any other person, simply longing for different outcome of his actions, and friends he sacrificed. He will be worshipped, but not understood - the fate of the king he always so desired, making him true king of Longing for the world he rejected himself.
      But I also think that Griffith's idea of breaking societies norms, and creating more egalitarian society is something he dreamt of and is still pursuing. Where commoner can become a king, where he creates schools and orphanages, caring about future of kingdom. He could succumb to tyranny, but he still "cares" and makes things easier for people of Falconia. To some extent I think that he is opposing Idea of Evil and desires to reduce its influence, and reams of making world better.
      The only thing that makes me wonder if the abyss where souls go - if it is horrible hell as we think it is or is it something else? Supposedly the souls that got there lose their individuality and act based on their last emotion - which is anguish in most cases. But if Griffith sends there souls that experienced sense of conclusion and satisfaction, by saying goodbye to their loved ones, wouldn't that make them feel serenity in the abyss? Through sending such calms ouls there, perhaps idea of evil might be changed itself, no longer feeding of negative emotions.

      Is Griffith struggling with his gay side while having to keep up a straight appearance in a heterosexual world? That wouldn’t surprise me and being gay would weaken his image as high class people want a guy who will produce heirs
      I will agree Griffith either doesn’t understand romantic feels or just is denying being close to anyone because that would break him down. He’s alway keeps a certain image about himself. Even friendship doesn’t seem to be a part of it and he sacrifices much of his human side as he can.

    I very much agree with you Ryan, these theories are just far-fetched. Below I have added what I think of these theories and the last part responds a little to all three, or at least the last two in particular.
    Having said that I really appreciate your videos, and your analysis. :)
    1) The first is clearly wrong, and you explain why yourself very well, thanks to all the details that Miura has let us find in his masterpiece.
    2) The second is pure fantasy and too forced to be one of the possible secrets that the mangaka has unfortunately not left us.
    3) The third is the ugliest, in my opinion, and outside the character of Guts .. moreover, if we want to analyze the origin of his surprising strength there are some clues that almost highlight it (at least in my opinion):
    Guts, being one of the branded by the brand, lives (as mentioned in the manga) in the interstice of the real world with the astral one .. so from this we can deduce or suppose that he somehow manages to channel his willpower and transform it in a means to take down his enemies with the Dragon Slayer. His sword also exists in that intersection (this is also said in the manga) and is now impregnated with the blood of demons / apostles and has unique properties thanks to this .. so Guts is not a demon, half-demon or whatever only a human. It is his immense willpower that makes him survive.

    The only, bare bones reason I could see someone might associate Zodd with Guts is his human form being decently similar to Guts, which isn't saying much, human Zodd is just a big beefy dude with a similar messy short hairstyle to Guts

  • @marsjake8

    I have my own theory and I am perfectly okay with being completely wrong about it, but I think it works. First off, I agree in Guts representing the strength of humanity, but I don't believe the whole "Guts isn't special and that's why he's special". I think there's too many references and events that play out throughout his life that contradict this belief. I do wholeheartedly believe there is a greater power is working alongside him granting him some level of fortune and strength in battle. You can't have an Idea of Evil without the opposite also existing to give it meaning. And if the Idea of Evil was created as a manifestation of people looking for something to explain suffering, then the Idea of Hope must have also been created as a way to fight back against it. And what character personifies that better then Guts himself and his sheer willpower and strength. Just a way to make "plot armor" actually canon.

    I like to think skull knight was to king geiseric (probably misspelled) what guts was to Griffith. Though the skull knight is actually the king theory makes a lot of sense. I’d like to think geisric is actually void. And that’s what led him to lead the godhand. I also do believe Griffith isn’t their leader just a pawn

    Boys skull knight is just putting himself in guts to just not made the same mistakes he did when he was alive in the physical world. About Griffith demon, what I think is this one (demon) already disappear because as you can see he can just come up like that, when those apostles shows up and he must appear to.

    and i think guts is his own father from the future as well :(
    griffth is a girl
    Void and skull knight have the same or similar abilities, I think the same thing happened with Guts but Void sacrificed Skull night, etc.
    and since they have similar abilities to open rifts in space I wonder if Guts has the same abilities as griffth to change causality and that's why Guts hasn't died until today.

    I have a totally baseless theory that Morda is actually Theresia from the black swordsman arc, she vowed to kill Guts at the end of the arc and I thought she could possibly discover magic and went to elf Island. Since time moves differently there that could explain why she's older, biding her time to get a chance at attacking Guts. However I have zero evidence to prove any of this theory aside from both Morda and Theresia having black hair lmao

    I have this theory that Rickert is going to meet a former member of the Godhand who had been transformed back into human. Maybe when Godhand members are killed they face a fate they would hate more than death. Aka. Becoming a weakling human and facing the consequences of their actions and the fact that they did evil things. Maybe he wants to atone for his deeds as a Godhand by helping defeat them for good. I don’t have a lot of basis for this, but who really knows.

  • @Indubidably0

    I just hate when people need things spelled out for them to grasp what's happening. Most people can't read between the lines to figure the answers out themselves. I've known SK was Gaiseric since they first showed Gaiseric and Guts had his reaction to it, and everything since has merely confirmed it even more. Many stupid theories are a result of this sort of thing, of people having to have it literally spelled out for them and insisting that until it is, their theory is somehow valid no matter how absurd and detached from the story it is.

    Hold up.
    I love you dood, but I have one issue . The "Zod is Gatsu's daddy" theory. You said it's never been shown or even referenced that an apostle could or would mate with a human... But that literally does happen, and despite what it may be now, Casca still gave birth to a child that probably came from Griffith. Even if it was Gut's child that got corrupted after Griffith did what he did to Casca, it still ended up being some form of Apostle/Human procreation.
    Still, great video and I appreciate what you do.

    One theory of mine kind of puts Guts into the "super special anime boy" category, but I don't think it ruins who he is and the message he gives to the reader. I think Guts isn't bound entirely by causality, or fate, or whatever. That maybe, the creator(s) of the fate of all beings (most likely the idea of evil) had some kind of glitch, or made a mistake. Maybe Guts was meant to die under that tree, but because of that mistake, he sort of falls out of place of the natural order of things, and can't be put back in. An odd piece in a puzzle. Instead of having his fate written as "Guts faces Zodd, and dies in battle" his fate is open ended "Guts faces Zodd, and MAY die in battle". This would also explain why he survived the eclipse, as the brand of sacrifice is causality being written to give the branded a horrible death, and afterlife, completely inescapable, but Guts being outside fate, is barely able to resist it. This puts him entirely on his own, so he's still very susceptible to dying, but he can find a way to avoid it, and even influence those around him, like Farnese, who was probably fated to stay leader of the Holy Iron Chain Knights if not for Guts' influence. Side note: Guts saying multiple times that he doesn't care where he dies, but still fighting tooth and nail to survive may be causality trying to bring him back to his original fate.
