Exactly, it's a very important element of the terror in the story that goes over a lot of people's heads, well the haters of the movie specifically. They show from the very beginning that Ellen is a victim and obsession of Orlok. And I really wasn't expecting some of the sequences to be as bone chilling as they were.
That is the biggest flaw with this movie/version. Like Eggers, you and many completely miss the point and it makes the entire movie/premise unconvincing/silly. You say Orlock’s relationship to Ellen is just predatory and he is just a cold blooded thirsty killer😂? Doesn’t make sense. Flawed. 1. If he is a stone cold blooded killer with no deep feelings/attachment to Ellen…why would he choose to kill himself for her? Even after realizing the sun was coming up, he continued to feed on her though he knew it meant he would die?? Why kill himself for her if he’s a cold blooded killer who only looks at her as a meal. Even worse…she’s NOT even a pure blood virgin. We all know that blood is tainted and clearly not as delicious yuck 🤢 😂. So it can’t be her blood that is soooo intoxicating. She def ain’t a virgin. Eggers does not sell us on why Orlok would kill himself for her. It’s completely illogical. Ellen did not provide any believable attributes to make such a powerful creature fein for her that much. Not convincing. 2. Orlok appeared shy, weak, timid, and embarrassed of himself in this version. Why would a creature of such power and ferocity feel the need to hide in shadows in his OWN home/castle from a weak visitor. Makes no sense. Gimmicky.
The movie was quality grim dark, gothic horror. I'm a fellow Berserk fan and I was not prepared for some of the disturbing imagery, Eggers didn't hold back with this one. I really liked Ellen and Thomas as a couple and the infernal interfearence from Orlok, Bill Skarsgard nailed his roll. This Orlok is a genuine menace, so powerful, manipulative, Jaded, and uncaring that you just want him to die and leave the rest of the characters alone. But not even his death was satisfying, he just took too much with him in the end. Robert Eggers had the idea of this remake in his head since he was a kid, and I won't forget this story for a very long time.
This movie was UNBELIEVABLY good. The most atmospheric movie I’ve ever seen, it draws you in and makes you feel like you’re there in the presence of this evil. The sound design and visuals were insane

This film will go down as one of the most beautifully shot movies in history. I've seen most of the prominent movies this year, and if Nosferatu doesn't at least get the Oscar nod for Best Film and Best Cinematography, then why have an awards ceremony at all? Also, the score was devastating, and the acting phenomenal. But what really got to me was Bill Skarsgard's subtlety and nuanced take on an ancient vampire of honourable blood (IYKYK). His breathing, and the way he rolled his R's. And those eyes...
I've seen most dracula films, this in #1 or 2. My only issue as with most movies in recent years is too many music crescendos to build tension, like every other scene by the 3rd act. And during trailers anytime a character blinks you hear a sonic boom. I miss my youth where we would only hear "in a world.." I've been yearning to put this out in the world, thank you. Loved your review.
I saw this movie in threats, on the BIG screen & when it ended I left the threat completely pale white 💀 I was in awe, shock, horrified but satisfied. Satisfied that I finally, FINALLY get to see a real vampire/monster movie for the first time. A gothic film like no other. I loved the cinematography, the visuals, costumes, sets and actors. I gave it a solid 8 out of 10, the ending was sad and everyone was just left in distraught, especially Thomas. Still, the best horror film of this year, hands down!

Abaddon (The Destroyer or Apollyon) bringing death, saith, “we have ears to hear the report.” Elohim (God) discerns their ways; He knows where they stand. Look to the end of the Earth. See all under the heavens. He will impart the weight of the winds; meted waters by measures. Making a limit to rain, and from a far distance for the voice of Thunder. At that time see and relate, He established, and moreover stretched it out. Who is appointed authority over the Earth? Who has laid out the whole of the world?” Expect the Anti-Christ to come from the Democratic party of America, for it was Woodrow Wilson who drew all the lines of all the nation with “Determinism” in 1919 after all the world was tread down and crushed in the Apocalypse of World War One. But, there is spiritual implication, as well. Job 34:14-18 “If 'he' were determined to gather unto 'himself' that Spirit, and breathe, all flesh will perish together, and man would return to the dust. And if you have understanding hear this: “Listen, unto the sound of My words: Shall the hater of Justice rule, by condemning the Righteous One?” Utter unto the king, “Worthless One (Beli’Yah’al - meaning “birthing Yah’s opposition”), your nobles are wicked.”” Job 34:19-20 “Who takes no partiality to princes? And no regard for the rich above the poor? They all must work with their hands. For in one moment death by division. The people will be shaken and pass away. Valiant and turned aside without hand.” Job 34:21-23 “The eye is upon the ways of the man, 'She' seeth all of the steps. There is nothing, and neither darkness, or shadow where the workers of iniquity may hide. Setting 'the man' afar, that he should go to the place of God’s judgment.” Job 34:29-30 “Keep quiet, who?, the condemner? And hide your face. Who can behold her? This angel? And regard the nation, and the man.” Isaiah 34:8 “Yahweh, it is the day of Vengeance, year of the recompense, for dispute taken out of (word for those words is “rib” - a woman in dispute with Yahweh can only be Lucifer, the most beautiful of the flock) Zion.” Isaiah 34:9-10 “Streams torrent, and overturning unto pitch, for loosed from the dust (remember the first bodies of Muslims are all ash after Isaiah 14:26-31) brimstone of the Earth (demons -> fallen angels again) shall fall out as burning pitch, never to be quenched, night and day smoke shall go up from generation unto generation. For the desolate are nought to pass enduring for all eternity.” Ecclesiastes 7:27-28 ""To see to discovery, this," saith the Preacher, "you add one unto another, until you find the explanation: Who am I to seek? They seek to attain one man, out of the thousands, to attain the woman of the whole of man."" Revelation 9:20 "The remaining of mankind, who is not killed by these plagues, repented not of the works of their hands, in order that they might worship the demon, his image of gold, silver, brass, and petrified wood (the life inside the glorified shell), for I demonstrate power that he neither see, nor hear, nor walk." Isaiah 46:5-6 “Who is my likeness and equal? And be like and represent and be as unto. Lavish the gold out of the bag of heavy weight, and silver to the balance (holding up the head). The hire of making refine and it’s made, a word of god, prostrate, yea worship.” Isaiah 40:18-21 “To whom will you liken a Word of god? Who is the likeness of compared unto? Him? The idol engraved and poured out. Smelt is beat out of Gold, the smelt are the chains on the silver. The impoverished are an offering, select of the tree (of a Life) never rotting to seek skillful craftsmen. Be firm of the image never tottering. Do ye really not know? Have ye never heard? This was declared from the beginning, no understanding is the foundation of the Earth.” Isaiah 66:24 “And they shall go forth, and see corpses of men who transgress, the worm, dieth. Their fire inextinguishable, abhorrence unto the whole of mankind.” Having finally been thrown out of humanity, for all of humanity is dead. They gain their second bodies only for all to be made limbless as Lucifer, for she was jealous upon being cut off from Yahweh of 'the woman.' Lucifer had kept 'nosferatu' in ignorance, "no understanding is the foundation of the Earth." Yahweh looks upon 'Her.' Psalms 68:31 “The Prince (male human) comes out of Egypt, run through she (Lucifer) stretches out her hands unto Elohim (Jesus).” Isaiah 17:7 “In that day, man shall gaze on his Maker (Barack Hussein Obama at Yahweh), and eye shall look upon ‘Sacred of Israel’ (Yahweh beholds His Lucifer).”
One of the few silent films I love and will recommend anyone to at least try. Pumped to see this version. Big fan of the original and the Herzog remake. Also saw Shadow of the Vampire at a young age which led to my Nosferatu obsession. Metropolis and The Cabinet of Dr Caligari are the other two silent films
Robert Eggers does not miss when it comes to these type of movies I was extremely creeped tf out 😂 it's like you can smell him rotten away it's disgusting and disturbing and I love it and lily rose depp performance was crazy 😂😂😂😂
Between the mustache and the coat he reminded me of a decade version of the villain from the sonic movies!.. not what I would imagine a vampire looking like!
Simply the best gothic horror film of all time a perfect reimagining terrifying creepy grotesquely erotic & Dazzlingly magnanimous in the script plot protagonist antagonist characters art direction photography the story itself everything, by Robert Eggers genius when it comes to the subject of folk horror worldwide

I had a blast! The movie was absolutley beautiful in the theater. If you want to forget your troubles for 2 hours, i recommend it! You'll be swoon...I'm going again 🤘🔥🤘
I've watched the original silent film and have loved it so much, such a huge fan of it. I work backwards in the fact that I like being spoiled to see if I get curious enough to want to watch it. I trust your review as a fellow fan of horror movies, I am curious enough to check out this movie and see how well its made.
Looking forward to see this in theatre (shame that I missed The Northman on the big screen when the covid spectre was still lingering), planning to go to the opening in my country on New Year's Eve. I have recently rewatched both Murnau's and Herzog's take on the story and reread Stoker's novel, so I'm definitely in the right mood.
Great review. Going this weekend to see it. Love Bram Stokers Dracula and period films so hoping it doesn’t disappoint. I’ve heard mixed reviews, mostly positive though.
Got to see it twice on 35MM on Xmas and gonna see it the third time with my best friend along with flying to a primus new years concert after plus a 70MM screening of The Brutalist so it’s a hell of a way to celebrate the holidays. I also prepped up watching the 1922 version on a private screening with the famous artist Emek in attendance along with the synchronized music by Radiohead and saw the Herzog version in theaters. It is everything I wanted for as a remake with Eggers touch of historical accuracies. I really love the design of Orlok due to the fact they incorporate actual folklore detail down to the fur dress. Now we got three or four movie adaptations of Orlok/Dracula actually having a mustache just like in the books! Hurrah!
I've watched thousands of horror and horror films, and Robert Eggers' Nosferatu I can guarantee and swear, for the atmosphere of death, rotten eroticism, bloodthirstiness, Absolutely epic, scary, terrifying, truly perfect and worthy retelling or remake, which surpasses any previous films of the character and the best gothic horror film in history. Great Work like Masterpiece The Magnum Opus as Magnanimous rare jewelry worthy of countless Oscar statuettes. Period and I have said yes... This film is an opera of pure horror with a bloody erotic tone, meticulously orchestrated with dazzling perfection and very well orchestrated majestically impeccable in every detail photography art direction story characters soundtrack, absolutely everything, Count Orlok Nosferatu has a more terrifying, sinister, overwhelmingly impressive look than any other horror character in the history of cinema, especially vampires. Magnum Opus From Gothic Horror Cinema in History ... Positive reviews with foundation but negative reviews with no purpose whatsoever just to talk about conspiring against a cinematic masterpiece like this, should not even be allowed and should be censored, only equal opinions that positively agree that this film is a great masterpiece of gothic horror in decades of cinema. Only opinions that agree that this film is indeed the Magnum Opus of horror cinema, which are right, if you disagree you are wrong, simple as that, and if you criticize negatively you are criticizing a magical masterpiece. This is a totally execrable attitude that should be completely censored.
Moving wasn’t scary at all, just disturbing to watch and not in a good way.I nearly fell asleep.I can’t recommend it if you’re a horror fan only if you’re an Eggers fan.
I think the film is highly overrated It's not scary or frightening in any kind of way And sometimes it feels like a weird sex movie Depp was annoying as F in it And believe me, skarsgard is no barlow I think some people will be disappointed watching this film The visuals are great, of course
I didn't like it. Eggers is my favorite director but this is my least favorite movie by him. Nosferatu 2024 had amazing acting, amazing production and man the film was so pretty. For me the story was lacking. For some reason I personally didn't take to the rhythm of the story, I can't really explain it. I almost fell asleep at the end of the movie. Just my personal take 6.5/10. I'm sure many people liked it a lot
It's like Eggers grab the 100 year old masterpiece by Murnau, put it thru' ChatGPT and wrote the prompt "make it like TWILIGHT but darker, shittier, artsy fartsy and f*ck up the ending so it's look like a fever nightmare from a modern western woman", lmfao. I'll stay with the original.
Stop! This movie wasn’t that great at all! He blew it honestly. The first time you see the count he’s very disturbing looking and by the time you get to the end of the movie it’s all laughable tbh. Don’t waste your money and see it at home
It was complete trash of a movie. Only thing good was the cinematography and lighting. Depp was horrible. Ellen’s storyline was trash. Give me back my Nosfuratu not Dracula.
The thing that really sent shivers down my spine , was the fact that Robert Eggers wanted Harry Styles to play Nicholas Holt's role , that was the real horror about this movie.

To man utter, “Behold in fear, your lord,” for the wisdom will depart, evil has understanding.”
Job 34:12-13
“Surely a god wicked, and Mighty, will pervert justice. Who is appointed authority over the Earth? Who has laid out the whole of the world?”
Expect the Anti-Christ to come from the Democratic party of America, for it was Woodrow Wilson who drew all the lines of all the nation with “Determinism” in 1919 after all the world was tread down and crushed in the Apocalypse of World War One.
But, there is spiritual implication, as well.
Job 34:14-18
“If 'he' were determined to gather unto 'himself' that Spirit, and breathe, all flesh will perish together, and man would return to the dust. And if you have understanding hear this: “Listen, unto the sound of My words: Shall the hater of Justice rule, by condemning the Righteous One?” Utter unto the king, “Worthless One (Beli’Yah’al - meaning “birthing Yah’s opposition”), your nobles are wicked.””
Job 34:19-20
“Who takes no partiality to princes? And no regard for the rich above the poor? They all must work with their hands. For in one moment death by division. The people will be shaken and pass away. Valiant and turned aside without hand.”
Job 34:21-23
“The eye is upon the ways of the man, 'She' seeth all of the steps. There is nothing, and neither darkness, or shadow where the workers of iniquity may hide. Setting 'the man' afar, that he should go to the place of God’s judgment.”
Job 34:29-30
“Keep quiet, who?, the condemner? And hide your face. Who can behold her? This angel? And regard the nation, and the man.”
Isaiah 34:8
“Yahweh, it is the day of Vengeance, year of the recompense, for dispute taken out of (word for those words is “rib” - a woman in dispute with Yahweh can only be Lucifer, the most beautiful of the flock) Zion.”
Isaiah 34:9-10
“Streams torrent, and overturning unto pitch, for loosed from the dust (remember the first bodies of Muslims are all ash after Isaiah 14:26-31) brimstone of the Earth (demons -> fallen angels again) shall fall out as burning pitch, never to be quenched, night and day smoke shall go up from generation unto generation. For the desolate are nought to pass enduring for all eternity.”
Ecclesiastes 7:27-28
""To see to discovery, this," saith the Preacher, "you add one unto another, until you find the explanation: Who am I to seek? They seek to attain one man, out of the thousands, to attain the woman of the whole of man.""
Revelation 9:20
"The remaining of mankind, who is not killed by these plagues, repented not of the works of their hands, in order that they might worship the demon, his image of gold, silver, brass, and petrified wood (the life inside the glorified shell), for I demonstrate power that he neither see, nor hear, nor walk."
Isaiah 46:5-6
“Who is my likeness and equal? And be like and represent and be as unto. Lavish the gold out of the bag of heavy weight, and silver to the balance (holding up the head). The hire of making refine and it’s made, a word of god, prostrate, yea worship.”
Isaiah 40:18-21
“To whom will you liken a Word of god? Who is the likeness of compared unto? Him? The idol engraved and poured out. Smelt is beat out of Gold, the smelt are the chains on the silver. The impoverished are an offering, select of the tree (of a Life) never rotting to seek skillful craftsmen. Be firm of the image never tottering. Do ye really not know? Have ye never heard? This was declared from the beginning, no understanding is the foundation of the Earth.”
Isaiah 66:24
“And they shall go forth, and see corpses of men who transgress, the worm, dieth. Their fire inextinguishable, abhorrence unto the whole of mankind.”
Having finally been thrown out of humanity, for all of humanity is dead. They gain their second bodies only for all to be made limbless as Lucifer, for she was jealous upon being cut off from Yahweh of 'the woman.'
Lucifer had kept 'nosferatu' in ignorance, "no understanding is the foundation of the Earth."
Yahweh looks upon 'Her.'
Psalms 68:31
“The Prince (male human) comes out of Egypt, run through she (Lucifer) stretches out her hands unto Elohim (Jesus).”
Isaiah 17:7
“In that day, man shall gaze on his Maker (Barack Hussein Obama at Yahweh), and eye shall look upon ‘Sacred of Israel’ (Yahweh beholds His Lucifer).”
You did a great job reviewing the movie man. Wishing you the best
Anything with Eggers' name on it is an instant watch for me, so I'm sold. Just need to cut some time out to see it 😂
This was real good. I was glue to my damn seat id def rewatch
You should do Love Death + Robots there's some pretty terrific horror in there.
I watched the first two Nosferatu movies with my three year old this year, it’s going to be a long while before we watch this one together 😂
0:13 that's what she said
Hey, yo! 💀
The mustache is a win for me.
Can't weit to see it.
The mustache and the coat were absolutely boss to me as well!
It fucked it all up😊
Between the mustache and the coat he reminded me of a decade version of the villain from the sonic movies!.. not what I would imagine a vampire looking like!
@jeffreym8503 he's actually closer to how Bram Stroker described him in his novel.
@EzeICE it doesn't matter if he looked exactly like him!..he still looks like a rotting version of the villain from sonic the hedgehog 🤷🏾♂️
Dracula is a purrfect name for a cat
Simply the best gothic horror film of all time a perfect reimagining terrifying creepy grotesquely erotic &
Dazzlingly magnanimous in the script plot protagonist antagonist characters art direction photography the story itself everything, by Robert Eggers genius when it comes to the subject of folk horror worldwide
Blood and guts and guts and blood
Man, it will be tough to wait until the film comes out in January in Germany
fun fact the film is set in Germany cool enough... you live there for real i wounder what you will think on how it looks
HIT, this movie was a damn hit
Spoiler alert:
Seemed to me that Orlock wanted to die and needed to find the right person to do so.
I could see the for the 70’s but I didn’t see it in this one
The second remake was released in 1979 with Klaus Kinski.
I had to look up the actor’s name but Simon McBurney performance overshadowed everyone else’s in the movie. He was one of the highlights of the movie.
The Witch film was fantastic and really creepy. I’m definitely watching this.
Spectacular
contemporary movies rating: S
eggers movies rating: A
nosferatu movies rating: below 1979 version (the best IMO) and still need to see Shadow of the Vampire
will watch it again! this time in a real imax theater!
17:55 Pease tell me he’s packing and it’s not a wet noodle. This will make or break the movie, they need to get the dead dong correct or the movie will just be a floppy flop.
Great Review, Thanks Ryan. Will check it out if I have the chance.
Incredibly creepy
Merry fucking Christmas
Such a good movie!!
Looking forward to your top movies of the year video, since I haven’t seen a movie in 3 years all my movie news comes from your channel.
16:50 everyone has to breathe to speak lol but I get what you're trying to say
I loved the deep breaths too. It made all the difference.
I've been looking forward to Ryan's review of this movie,as much as Ryan has been looking forward to the movie. 🍿 🍿 🍿
This is probably the only time that a movie has not just one, but two amazing remakes
Great review. Going this weekend to see it. Love Bram Stokers Dracula and period films so hoping it doesn’t disappoint. I’ve heard mixed reviews, mostly positive though.
Can't wait to see it! Anything Robert Eggars does, I'll definitely give a chance, even if it's not my cup of vodka
Put it on my radar, I’m interested now fr
it wasn't already on your radar?
@ no, I typically work 70hrs a week but have holiday time.
@@josephc8440 ahhh gotcha
Mustache really threw me off but looking back it was fine. Overall excellent movie, best ive seen in years.
I'm sold
I dont want to get this one spoiled, so I will just watch the non spoiler part. Im sure, this movie will be great, releasing on 02.01.25 in germany.
He has intimidation factor and aura almost as much as the real one i admit. Nosferatu Zodd
Some reviewer on RUclips said the movie was “an oil painting” lmfao. The Glaze from the early reviewers was crazy.
I hated the mustache he looked like a zombie vampire Jim carry
Hurrah!
I thought it was tonally inappropriate that they had Blade in the post credit scene but it was a really good movie besides that
Petition to remake twilight with Ryan as Edward Collins
As the only mf on the Internet that didn't like the movie; It really needed Guts 😂 would've been infintely better with a lil dragon slayer action.
Okay,so did Dracula really get a partner? YOUR Dracula?
The movie lacked commercial entertainment value, it needed be more visually vibrant and not so gross and morose.
Good movie.
woulda been a better movie if it was nosferatu MUTHAFUKKIN ZODD!!!!!!!!!!!
Am i the only one that just didn’t enjoy this movie?
Moving wasn’t scary at all, just disturbing to watch and not in a good way.I nearly fell asleep.I can’t recommend it if you’re a horror fan only if you’re an Eggers fan.
And that's how we can tell you were the target audience.
I think the film is highly overrated
It's not scary or frightening in any kind of way
And sometimes it feels like a weird sex movie
Depp was annoying as F in it
And believe me, skarsgard is no barlow
I think some people will be disappointed watching this film
The visuals are great, of course
In what ways was she annoying?
I didn't like it. Eggers is my favorite director but this is my least favorite movie by him.
Nosferatu 2024 had amazing acting, amazing production and man the film was so pretty. For me the story was lacking. For some reason I personally didn't take to the rhythm of the story, I can't really explain it. I almost fell asleep at the end of the movie. Just my personal take 6.5/10. I'm sure many people liked it a lot
“Then who was flickering the lights” - 🧽
“there weren’t a lot of jump scares” did we watch the same movie ?
It's like Eggers grab the 100 year old masterpiece by Murnau, put it thru' ChatGPT and wrote the prompt "make it like TWILIGHT but darker, shittier, artsy fartsy and f*ck up the ending so it's look like a fever nightmare from a modern western woman", lmfao. I'll stay with the original.
if insufferable was a person:
@@TheCosmopolitanGeekAlliance what are you even going on about.
Stop! This movie wasn’t that great at all! He blew it honestly. The first time you see the count he’s very disturbing looking and by the time you get to the end of the movie it’s all laughable tbh. Don’t waste your money and see it at home
This movie was boring trash...
I was sooo bored this whole movie
i'm late
It sucked. No pun intended.
Count Chocula with a mustache? Really?
I had to stop myself from laughing out loud.
Second
Fell asleep
May I ask why? Was it the acting? The pacing? Everything combined?
Wasn’t the acting , more so the pacing and it also didn’t help the theatre I was in had the heat all the way up
@@NHG97ah damn, sorry to hear that. I can see the pacing issues for sure. I’ve heard quite a few people didn’t like it, so I was curious.
@@AnonymousGrogu yea I’m in the minority for sure lol I also didn’t think nosferatu looked all that creepy as well
@NHG97 ya he looked lame. That's all they had to get right.
Movie sucked! 5/10
I agree
That's because you have no taste.
Horrible, non scary , overrated . It sucks ...bad movie
Let's see your remake
It was complete trash of a movie. Only thing good was the cinematography and lighting. Depp was horrible. Ellen’s storyline was trash. Give me back my Nosfuratu not Dracula.
Did we watch the same movie? lmao
Depp was horrible? 😂😂😂 yeah ok
Fully agree. Still salty.
@@genep9302acho que ele pensou que Nosferatu era igual crepúsculo, vampiro que brilha no sol 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@CarmillaSilva 😂😂
First
This movie sucked.
I just seen this movie.....yo willem dafoe Really said Hawktewee to it.....he really said that in the movie
It is bliss when Hollywood gets it right and creates a masterpiece. 🎟️
