Nice Aztec! How many total hours normally does survey companies ask for? Great video btw

      Thanks!
It all depends on the company to be honest. But most of the jobs I see in Canada that are survey related ask for around 1000hrs total time!
Now I can tell you this, I barely have half of that. I got extremely lucky and my company just happens to be taking a few lower time pilots to mold into pilots that will be flying the Navajos. Meaning, you'll be seeming Piper Navajo videos on this channel very soon :D

That's great man that's what all company's should do; give the new pilots some chance! I tell you look really comfortable flying the Aztec, cant wait for the Navajos vids. Thanks!

It was a very easy transition for me. As someone who trained solo on the Aztec for my Multi and Instrument ratings, it made it super simple to jump into my companies Aztecs and understand what was "under the hood"
Its like flying a Cessna 172. Once you do it a couple hundred times. It just becomes natural to fly that airplane. Same thing for the Aztec.
I personally cannot wait to get some Navajo videos out as that airplane is such a blast to flying and its also a challenge!

Great ATC communication And staying ahead of the Aztec. That's what I want to get my Muti engine rating in the near future.looks like a great job to build Hours especially Muti time is hard to get when you have to pay for it to stay current. The rear passengers during winter flying isn't always the greatest but the blowers do a great job getting it back there. Great job landing

landing with 1/4 flaps and not full rich? I am presently trying 1/2 on approach and full on short final - still quite a bit of a dive full flaps come in. Great video - Thx

Why “ASL” and not “MSL” at 7:50? Typo or is ASL a different term I’m unfamiliar with? (Given the fact I’m just mid way to getting my CPL. Great vid by the way. My dad has a few damn good stories in Piper Aztecs and Navajos.

ASL and MSL are the same thing. The FAA is just unique compared to the rest of the world so they use MSL.

That's an invention of ATC/FAA to separate the Aztec from the Apache, from which it is derived. My Aztec is technically a PA23-250 -- (250HP engines). The original Apache had 160HP engines, meaning the same basic airplane could have a total of 320HP (Apache) or 500HP in the Aztec. Filing a flight plan as a PA27 lets ATC know to expect faster speeds and climbs.
