Nice video, and nice work quality too. I don't know how young people listen to contest level bass continuously driving down the road. I have a neighbor youngster, that tries to shake homes off their foundations as he drives by not wearing earplugs either. He is running 8 15 inch subs in his Suburban with only front seats. The whole truck is a rolling subwoofer box. He had 3 dedicated alernators when I jumpstarted his rolling bass machine off at the gas station about a month ago. I know you will do a great job with the install, keep us posted. 73 and GOD bless. Earnest K5EWM.
I thought I heard something rumblin' all the way out here in Sacramento, then I got a Stereo MoJo RUclips notification. Already new what time it was...
Beautiful box, what color and brand stain did u use? Ps…I’ve always wondered what’s the purpose of those smd distortion detectors if your amp has a clip light? Is there something I’m missing. Isn’t that what the clip light is for?
Ok, yes I too set my signals and gains clean. I am curious to know if any harm is being done when it does flicker on the “Clip In” but no light on Clip Out
A guy stopped me in town a few weeks ago and wanted to see what I was running... He was floored when I told him everything was at 4 ohm.... Anyway, we got into voltage. He told he is running 4x 12" Skar (it was the bigger ones. I can't remember the series)... He said he's running a stock alternator with just a 2nd battery. I still haven't gotten around to checking the electronic load indicator on my 2k Accord. I stopped and got back on painting the car because of good weather. But ofc I had trouble with the 2k Urethane primer. I'll tag you a couple of pictures.... mirrors, ground sfx, front bumper clip. Now that I see what the pearls are going to do..... I know what color strip I'm putting across the right side the hood and down the trunk.... It'll be a light base purple.... It's not going to be a solid stripe ... it'll look torn and ripped in different places... like if it was beaten in the wind.
Is your plan to fire subs up and port rear? Thats pretty brutal on the rear hatch. With this size box I would consider a port in the back firing up. The pressure would be less on the hatch, but brutal on the roof. IDK, just a thought.
Yes, we’re planning on doing subs up/ port rear. Thinking about putting sound deadener on the door for. It doesn’t have any deadener at all at the moment.
Yeah mane.. Hey how big is that box your using now? Also they just had JP 40 on sale. I got one too. I think if you moved the box farther back you may get a better score. Do you want to sale the sundown 8k?
@@geovannimedrano15 cool. Just be patient. It probably won’t be weekly videos of the build. Might be more like monthly. I’ll still be dropping my normal weekly dyno videos though.
It's funny, my Navigator also peaks at 44hz and I think it's because the interior volume is basically the same as the Tahoes. I'm using a small box, though. With a box your size, I would expect the vehicles peak to rise. With a box extending further back I would expect another bump up in the vehicle peak. IDK, I may be wrong.
One thing I don't like is that my frequency response is flat up to 45hz then nose dives due to frequencies canceling. (When measured from the front seat). I'm going to be doing a 8 cube box similar in shape to yours. I hope it moves the cancellation point up. In theory it should. I was thinking I could add a wood extension on the back of my box going to the hatch. (It would be an empty cavity that could be used for storage) This would shrink the interior volume more and raise the cancellation point even higher. (I hope) If that still isn't good enough, I may fire my subs forward into the 2nd row seat and add a partition on top of the box to seal off the entire rear storage area. (sorta like a double cab pickup with a blow through). I really want to hear a nice 60hz bass beat at least. Right now 60hz is 15 to 18db down. 😢
Yes, that’s interesting. I recon it’s because of the 1/4 wave theory? We’ve never dove off into the 1/4 wave stuff. Yeah, my Son’s system doesn’t play 60hz very well either. Those are still some good frequencies IMO. lol
Man, I consider that a big compliment! Thanks! We’ve got a ridiculous amount of hours and memories building that box, so he wants to keep it and use it as some type of furniture. Like a tv stand or bedside table or something. He wants to put subs back in it and still have the lights hooked up.
@@edwinhoward6530 so, it’s only been I for a few days, and we haven’t done any more db testing, but…my Son says the JP53 sounds better on music and more dynamic as well. It put out more watts than the SFB 8K, but the db score is less by about 1.3 db. TBH though, that db score may come up with more testing.
@@stereomojo ok no worries just thought I'd ask. I have a single Xv3 15 setup in my truck. But was gifted another one by a friend so now I need to upgrade the box and I think that box is badass. Thanks again and keep on bassin bro ✌️
Is that even possible with these subs? I think they are dual 4 ohm, so they are paralleled all the way down to a 1 ohm load at the amp. To wire at 0.5 ohm they would have to swap to dual 2 ohm subs. (I'm guessing they are wired to 1 ohm and the impedance rise is 2x. Therefore we see the 1.9 ohm at box tuning)
@stereomojo If you wire 4 of those to 0.5 ohm you have to scrap the plans for two amps and use one large amp. I think your current plan of running 2 amps is best. They are not being pushed as hard and won't get as hot. 12k watts is a lot.
