    Idea: A category where you have to do all the objectives in level order (Cortondo Gym -> Stony Cliff Titan -> Artazon Gym -> Open Sky Titan -> Segin Squad -> Levincia Gym -> Schedar Squad -> Lurking Steel Titan -> Cascarrafa Gym -> Navi Squad -> Medali Gym -> Montenevera Gym -> Alfornada Gym -> Quaking Earth Titan -> Glaseado Gym -> Ruchbah Squad -> Caph Squad -> False Dragon Titan -> End of Path of Legends -> End of Starfall Street -> Pokemon League -> End of Victory Road)

    It’s insane how you do the same run for 5 hours multiple times just to lose like 1 minute off your record

    Can I ask why you chose to use the starter in the bug over flami? Wouldn’t it be faster over switching there

    • @Truely28th
      @Truely28th  2 года назад +4

      Using the fire starter lets us still 3 turn fight the bug gym, then allows us to die to the rival battle in 1 turn immediately after. Where flamigo would not die in 1 turn to rival. So it ends up being faster to just use the starter :)

    Is there a good doc or some kinda of readable guide out there for this game?

    • @Dante02d12
      @Dante02d12 2 года назад +2

      I wanted to try out a speedrun too, and I had to build that doc myself T_T. I'm not typing everything here, but here's a few key elements for a speedrun :
      - *Go in the settings as soon as the game starts.* Disable cutscenes, disable nouns for caught Pokemons, put text at Fast speed.
      - take the Fire Starter. Catch Lechonk during the Pokeball Tutorial. Then catch Flamigo and use it as your main.
      - there are five skips : two Nemona Skips, the Clavell Skip, the Water Gym Exam Cutscene Skip and the Area Zero Skip.
      1) The Nemona Skips : *let Nemona win.* The first and third time, *take only the Lechonk* you caught in the tutorial, it should be weak enough for Nemona to OHKO it. For the second fight, take the Fire Starter, give it candies to reach lvl 20 (not more!), and fight the Bug Gym with it. Right after the Gym Battle, Nemona fights you. She'll OHKO your Fire Starter with her Lycanroc.
      2) the Clavell Skip : you don't have to battle Clavell at the end of Operation Stardust! After defeating all Team Star, go fight the Elite 4 then defeat Nemona. You end up _inside_ the Academy after beating her. *From there you can go fight Penny right away.*
      3) The Water Gym Leader has an optional cutscene at the top of the Town for the Exam. *You can just avoid it by not getting close to the Gym Leader,* who's looking at flowers in the field. Personally, I go through the desert, beat the Ground Titan, then glide from there directly to the roof of the market (where there's a Rare Candy).
      4) The Area Zero Skip : after unlocking all 4 locks, teleport to Base n°2. From here, get out of the building and go straight towards the center hole. *You can let your character slide from there to reach the very bottom right away.* That skips the whole underground, along with part of the last dialogue before the Final Boss.
      - during a Speedrun, you have two goals : accomplish missions and gather candies. The key to the best result is finding the optimal route to make both, and learning this route by heart.
      1) your very first mission is the Rock Titan, because that's how you unlock the Sprint, and obviously, the earlier you get it, the more time you save. Leave Team Star for the end and focus on the other two main stories. Just make sure to unlock Pokemon Centers near Team Star spots, so you just have to fast travel to fight them later.
      2) There are two main places to gather Candies : the North Mountain and the North Zone 1. You need Climb to get around in the North Zone 1 and you go there later for Team Star anyway, so your major "Candy Place" is the Mountain. Learn the paths to gather the candies there (just watch the speedrun video), and just repeat them until you know them instinctively. Note that there's a lot of other Rare Candies and M or L Candies, I'll talk about them right now.
      You level up mainly with candies, but you have to do it in several steps throughout the run:
      1) You gather two Rare Candies and 1 L Candy in the South Zone where you catch Flamigo. While going there, you grab the two Rare Candies. After catching Flamigo, walk towards the beach, and slide on the cliff until you get on the Beach. The L Candy is there. *You can use those three candies and give it to Flamigo right away, so it reaches Lvl 25.*
      2) After you defeat the Steel Titan, there's three Rare Candies and one M Candy to grab in that desert. After grabbing those, go straight towards the North Mountain. There are a LOT of M and L candies right above Zapapico : one item near a tree right above the town (M x3!!!), then another one on a mountain just North of that tree (M x3 again!!!! plus 1 L candy right above that item). There's a whole lot more on the mountain itself!
      3) After the Big Gathering in the North, give all the candies to Flamigo once again. *It should reach Lvl 60.*
      4) From here your goal is to beat every other Titan and Gym Leader. On your way there, there's several other candies to grab. Grab all of them but don't use them late, you don't need them.
      4) After running over all remaining Titans and Gym Leaders, go in North Zone 1. Jump from the North Mountain Gym. You'll reach a dirt road. There's one candy on the ground, then you'll eventually jump from that road onto a mountain, and there's another candy, then another candy near that one, etc... *There's a path full of candies that lead you straight towards the forest.* Learn that path, then give all those candies to Flamigo, which should reach Lvl 70+, and maybe even 80 (that's the level the World Record reaches, but my Flamigo only went to 73). From here start running over Team Star, with a third strong Pokemon that you catch in that forest.
      There, hopefully that helped. I'm not the one who has the World Record so obviously there's more tricks that I don't know, but these are all the skips and the basic ideas to get a Speedrun in this game ^^.

    I know this is typical of the series, but just how much of this run would you say is skipping through dialogue and not quite "gameplay"? Like, percentage-wise? Just asking out of curiosity as someone who's done some "cutsceneless compilations" of other speedgames.

    • @Dante02d12
      @Dante02d12 2 года назад +1

      Honestly, I would say 30%. There's cutscenes _all the time_ in this game, even for Pokemon that's a lot. You get in a Gym, boom, cutscene. You get close to a Team Star spot, double cutscene before the start of the fight. You defeat a Boss, boom, a 5-minutes cutscene (5 min even _when skipping all the text!)._ You spend at least 2 hours spamming A to skip, and that's a third of a good speedrun.
      If you end up making a "cutsceneless compilation", I'd love to hear the accurate time you had to cut!

    Hey I don’t know if I know what I’m talking about but I think you could save some time if you found some Pokémon that get priority moves and if you could find a way to pick up a Pokémon with endeavor

      With the strategies you can take on the upper gym leaders first for whatever benefits they would give you.

      There is no real way to do that “fast” where as flamigo is always spawning in the same spot and is level 17, which makes “obedience” not a problem. And it handles the game very well, and it’s move animations are also very fast which hasn’t had to be taken into account in past pokemon games bc we could turn them off.

      Flamigo destroys most low-level Bosses, and most enemies at all in fact. The Flying/Fighting combination is super-effective on Dark, Ice, Rock, Steel, Bug, Fighting and Grass. That's a third of all Types, and in fact, most Bosses have Pokemons with one of those Types (among the high-level Bosses, only the Fairy Boss doesn't fear Flamigo).
      The key to the speedrun is to level up one Pokémon to Level 70+ within two hours of gameplay (and before fighting most enemies) and one-shot everyone. At this point and onwards the Pokemon you're using doesn't really matter.
      But before we reach this point, we need to get the Sprint as fast as possible, so we need someone that can one-shot the Rock Titan early. So we need a Fighting-Type that hits strong, and one that can be obtained quickly in-game. Flamigo fits the bill.
