- Sold the Miata and picked up a 2005 Dodge Neon SRT4! Gave it a good "break-in" period before I decided to make this video. It survived the hard first month of ownership but I was pushing the car to its limits to make sure it would, in fact, turn out to be a good car after some friendly abuse. I've found some minor issues(addressed in the video) and had them fixed and all is good so far! I don't understand the hate, but I guess it's like a non-Miata driver mindset... They talk shit until they drive one... Then they want one 😂

Beautiful car. I always thought the srt4s were one of the best looking cars of the 2000s and still look amazing today. The exhaust note this car gave out sounded amazing and mean!
I had an 04 silver bullet I bought new. Wish I never let it go. I deleted the cat (right after the exhaust collector) and deleted the pipes and added a single dump pipe in front of the passenger rear tire. It added a few pounds of extra boost and shaved a couple tenths off the quarter mile. Miss it :/

I got my shit about 5 months ago. Fully built and built really well by a shop called EvansTuning in PA. I mean they really didn’t cut any corners, it has 29,000 miles. So far I blew my turbo up and snapped the input shaft. Out of those 4 months it’s been in the shop more than I’ve been able to drive it. I really love the car and it’s pushing around 550whp but these repairs are eating my wallet alive. I think I’m going to have to sell it as much as I don’t want to. Not the most reliable car for sure.
I'm afraid to go high HP with this car as I don't have the supporting wallet to back up expensive failures. As she sits now, I'm 'maybe' at the 330hp threshold. And that's stock turbo at @17lbs. Other than a power steering pump, I haven't had a major issue with the car yet. In stock to lightly modded forms, they can be extremely reliable. I just think for a massive HP build, I'd stick to my V8s. Nothing against turbo 4 cylinder builds, but V8s are just so much more robust.
Austin Akens Much agreed, even my buddies that have fully built 500whp builds there’s something that’s going to break or need work on. On top of that I try to daily the car and it’s just not working out for me.
These cars are safe and reliable up to 330whp. Withe the power to weight ratio and given how torquey they are that's all you need.

Man, I got LUCKY. He was located in Winston Salem NC and met me halfway in Boone NC. Two hour drive for us both. Only reason he sold it was cause he has an identical one he's building a 700hp race car out of. He just really needed race car funds 😂 He's an insta as "unicornsrt4" if you wanna check out his build, it's pretty sick!
That's pretty average in my tristate area for that milage

Nice, I picked up the exact same car but a 2004. A couple more tears for mods are coming to mine, but mine was saved from being a parts car and currently has 84,000 km on it. In Canada and I’m willing to bet it’s probably the cleanest one in the country.

With that set up how much is it pushing ?
My srt is stock with some mods .
Stock engine , turbo ,tranny, intercooler , exhaust.
Have k&n intake
Walbro 255
Bc coils
Dc struts
Catchcan
Im planning to upgrade to 3" exhaust and get a 02 hosting to make it work with factory turbo. Might upgrade intercooler .
And upgrade to hurst short throw
15psi boost not sure the previous owner tuned it .
I'm not planning to go with larger turbo for now.
I wanna go with wider wheels , not sure how wide can i go without fender rolling .
Currently 225/45/17 on stock rims doesnt rub.
Should I get one?
If you can find one that's been taken care of. Which is hard to come across nowadays. I'd look for one relatively stock, hasn't been rebuilt or motor replaced, and one with a transmission that has all gears without a grinding issue. Check for the basics smoke from the exhaust. While the engine is running pop off the oil cap and look for excessive blow by. Check the temps etc if you do find one. But if it checks out mechanically, don't stress over paint issues or ripped seats. That's common with every SRT4 that's been daily driven.
I just test drove a 08 caliber srt4 today. I'm going on Saturday to pick it up. I had a 04 srt4 back in 2008 i wish i never sold it. Now I'm back in one for the second time ✌🏾👀💪🏾
