I love, love, love 4 Runners. Had one back in the 1980's, drove the wheels off of it. Currently have a 2014. I think it was called the tracker back in 2014 but it has 4x4, crawl gears, atrac, locking rear diff, stability control. I have almost 135,000 miles on it. No major problems, still drives like a dream. Would not trade it for anything but a new one. Heck it's paid for and will go another 135,000 miles. Best vehicle on the road for me....

I'm glad for 2024 4Runner continues to have no BS powertrain. No turbos, no cylinder deactivation, etc. Since Toyota has so many EPA friendly options hope 4Runner continue to have reliable powertrain for those who need reliable transportation / outdoor fun.

Currently a 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road owner (still enjoying that fresh paid off smell). If I were in the market right now, that specific 4Runner as built would be my first choice, period. It had all of the features that I would want (to include the $499 dashcam), and the reliability that the overall Toyota lineup has dialed in perfectly. Thanks for doing this review!

I actually kind of like the look of this in the video. My wife and I just looked at a Terra TRD Pro in person when it was overcast. A lot of days like that here in the Pacific Northwest. It is totally brown. My wife looked at me and immediately said 'No." I have no desire to own a brown truck either. Maybe when I am in my 70's I will really like a brown truck but I am not there yet.

@@cch4722You’re not right but your certainly not wrong either. I brought a 2018 4Runner because I live in Michigan and we have all seasons and the roads suck.
However, yes the reliability is a good thing to have, but having better MPG would be good as well. I’m not expecting to get 30-35mpg+ but something like 20-25mpg would be great. 12-15 mpgs is very steep for 2023.
It’s literally the ultimate suv imo, but it looks like I might trade in for the new Land Cruiser which has better MPG.

I bought it because I wanted to do overlanding but never got too :/ as a weekend car I wanted a more fun to drive vehicle it’s pretty pedestrian and doesn’t feel special over the other trims even though it is. TRD off-road with XP package is just as capable. It’s outdated, to the exterior to interior it’s outdated. But that’s also its charm, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

I love the solid, durable, "I may run over it just for fun" feel of driving my '21 Pro. This is my second one and I dread what the next one will bring to the table. I don't blame Toyota - all they do is take flack for being "behind" with all the tech. And, all the tech just makes the vehicle more expensive to own, insure, and repair. I drive my wife's '19 Passport and it's a nice vehicle, and certainly high-quality. But, it just doesn't feel as solid being a unibody car. I can drive over anything and there is no rattling, no creaking, no popping, and everything just feels solid. Sad that this is the end of an era - I wish they would keep the truck the same and just throw in an 8-speed tranny.

Nice, the Ram will out perform with power and gas mileage. Not in resale, off roading and longevity.
Your ram might hit 200-250k if you have diesel. This will go well over 300 to 400k with only oil changes. Point and case my son has a tacoma with 325k on it and it still runs like new. Plus unfortunatly the kid only changes the oil maybe twice a year. Bad move but shows the reliability of the toyota. Neglect it and it still goes forever.

So frustrating. We can view the colors on line…What we can’t see is all of the manual/electronic configurations. How is that not an obvious Point of interest for someone who is trying to understand the complete functionality of the use of the vehicle inside and out? How is it that none of your creators seem to understand that? I’m canceling my subscription. Maybe Alex on autos is more comprehensive in his reviews?

Yes underpowered is correct. However the resale is second to none and off roading the vehicle can only be beat by the rubicon because of front and rear diff. Lastly this truck is built on a frame and will go way over 300 k with just oil changes. Find another that will do that.
