Great vid. I always found it mind boggling why people hate on it. Its efficiency in storytelling is extremely underrated. Its always thematically consistent and authentic in a way that other "deeper"/"smarter" shows is not. Its always takes care on putting the person on forefront and not just viewing them as a cog in the plot machine.
something i really love is the demon backstorys every time they die. to see how bad some of them had it and some real problems there are relatable to real life and feelings. My favorite demon is gyutaro it was kyogai but i can really relate to some of the feelings he had and I know I don’t have it so bad as him but when you can relate to some of the demons it just slaps
this show is pretty cool. i never minded that its not anything new. its a classic kinda story. it works, the visuals are amazing, most of the characters are endearing. the story isnt overly complicated and its the kinda show that you can just enjoy. what really makes it hard in my opinion is Zenitsu’s character overall. my first watch i had to quit when he was introduced because of how insufferable he was. but thankfully i decided to push through a second time and i fell in love with everything else. from what i understand most people love Zenitsu because of how cool he is when he’s asleep and while i agree its still not enough to excuse how he is most of the time. he has these little moments here and there when he’s awake but then he just starts screaming again to remind you that he’s still annoying as hell lol def feels like a hurdle to go through every time he’s on screen. also Rengoku is awesome but i gotta admit when he died it was sad but it was also not…idk it didnt strike me as much as so many other people because we met him in such a short amount of time. not to mention it was kinda odd that the boys got so incredibly emotional over someone they just met? like even when Tanjiro flashes back to when they first met him it was literally just like “oh man remember all the good times we had” and it was just Rengoku eating and showing them that one super awesome/cool fire attack that happened an hour ago?? idk it felt odd. i was def more sad over the fact that we barely got to know anything about Rengoku and not so much when he literally got killed.
As you've articulated, the show works because the characters drive the story forward. As the story progresses, we uncover reasons for people's odd mannerisms or difficult behaviors. But that changes when they interact with Tanjiro because as the heroic protagonist, his presence positively impacts people around him. I'm observing "Demon Slayer" through Western eyes and notice similarities between this story and Stoker's "Dracula" e.g. themes of salvation vs. damnation, various people united in teamwork. The demons are tales of tragedy, humans who fell from grace, while Tanjiro and Nezuko struggle to keep themselves (and each other) tethered to humanity. Inosuke, Zenitsu, and Tanjiro are their own merry trio we've seen in other stories (Harry Potter, Three Musketeers) and could represent the Id, Ego, and Superego.
People always shit on it because the story is simple, but I disagree. A simple story doesn't mean it's inherently bad. If you master simplicity, it is still good. Also most anime have these overpowered people fighting eachother. There are stakes but not the kind where I'm often left wondering if someone will die. The fact that these are humans with no real superpowers fighting against demons who can grow limbs and have powers inherently makes their fights stakes really high. I think Shounen need to have that tension in their fights because its about action storytelling. I dont find this to be the case for most shounen. Some others do it well, but demon slayer really masters it in my opinion.
If you master simplicity, it’s still good Talkin like Zenitsu lol I agree, Demon Slayer has a great knack for character driven story, it can make you fall in love with someone in only a chapter or two
Almost every character is relatable. Demon Slayer doesn’t have a bunch characters for the sake of having a bunch of characters, all of them are connected some how and everyone gets their own conclusion, including the antagonists
Most people only hate it because it’s mainstream. I guarantee you that if those haters’ favourite anime was massively mainstream, they would continue to say it’s peak fiction lmao (cough cough)
My favorite fact of the Demon Slayer story is that it’s not about superhumans fighting demons. it’s normal humans. fighting through sheer human will. yes we have breathing techniques but that’s what they are. breathing. They don’t summon flames or water. they have a sword. pure human will
To be fair, they have done alot of things that would be considered beyond peak human. An example is Zenitsu dashing faster than Usain Bolt whenever he's asleep. I can't tell whether the dashing or the sleeping part is more insane 😂 The Mugen Train and Entertainment District arcs get even more crazy with it.
It is Superhumans, but beside them being Superhumans it’s just sheer determination, all the visuals of the Water and Flames are just for nice visual effect, they don’t actually exist.

There are plenty of plotholes, most characters are poorly written and unlikable to many, the story is extremely basic and filled with inconsistancies, the villains are awfully written, the uses of flashbacks is terrible, character development is poorly done and there's so many plot devices and deus ex machina moments in the show.

a fair point, Ill keep that in mind in the future, I figured battle damage doesn't indicate any definitive conclusion aside from a fights occurrence but your right in that it gives away the presence of a distinct fight! thanks for the comment, really glad you liked the video and I appreciate the criticism.
My problem with Tonjiro is that his kindness towards demons feels repetitive overtime. Though I will be admit I did like his moments with Gytaro and Daki because it felt a lot more personal than the other times.
@@SoGoodContent Nice I'm interested to hear the rest of your thoughts when you finish the manga. BTW I was wondering what was the inspiration behind the design of your avatar?

Wow… Honestly: I absolutely hate the show! I watched up to the introduction of the firebreath, and never started to like it (except the first 2, maybe 3 episodes. It is incredibly strange to see Zenitsu fall asleep, finish everything, and the characters never mention it after it happened, as an example. - Sometimes the characters just magically know explanations (or it just feels like it). Just look at Tanjiro avoiding the papers on the floor, or him mercifully executing (please also tell us you can do this, before doing this) the „spider-mother“. I would perhaps be OK with how it was shown in a more western, show don‘t say driven story, but in an anime? Please just give me a relatively long monologue where he explains what he feels, and give me something like a visual overlay of Nezuko on the face he‘s about to destroy! Just something! Please! Demon slayers was one of the first anime i ever watched i thought it was good then after completing more 100 anime i can say that demon slayer is one of the most dogshit trash i ever watched as an action anime, i would argue akame ga kill(anime, its manga was awesome) was better the only difference is animation atleast they didn't just plot armor the main character from start to finish. Just rewatching it with my little brother made me cringe, not even the jokes were funny and there were idk how many moments where the show could have ended for example in mugen train ehen he was in sleep and his killer was like "your core is too nice too kill" or some shit like that. I wish this animation studio had taken some other anime without animation noone would have even known about this
Cry about it that demon Slayer got an op adaptation were as berserk and Fate got terrible one . Keep crying were as I am going to enjoy this "dogsh*t trash " anime 😂😂😂
Berserk is more nuanced and intense. A much more indepth and articulated piece of fiction... I WOULD like to make a video o n berserk, but its such a monumental work that its harder to actually sit down and discuss it... a million different places I could go with it. I wouldnt compare demon slayer and berserk, demon slayer is fun and adventurous in many ways, berserk is not...it is emotional and harsh, beautiful and tragic... understand?
@@SoGoodContent i do understand. But Ive seen fun and adventerous done with respect to the audience. Demon Slayer has too many moments of 'dont ask and we wont explain it'. Berserk has next to none of that. Neither does something like SpyXFamily. So for you to be like these are both "So Good" is hard to understand. Where is the complexity between any demon or moon and the demon slayers. Its just good vs bad. Cut and dry. Dont ask or make it complex because the show definitely wont. And the respect implies that I believe you like this show with reasons. It means I can‘t see the positives, or that they are too little in my perspective.
Tanjiro
Plot and story are not the same thing my guy
No way this guy read or watched Berserk and then made a video talking about how good Demon Slayer is. That’s crazy
Wow Guts is a complex character as are his party members and enemies. The world is also complex as are the relationship between each character.
Where is the complexity between Nezuko and Zenitsu. Where is the complexity between any demon or moon and the demon slayers. Its just good vs bad. Cut and dry. Dont ask or make it complex because the show definitely wont.
So how are these both "so good".
Thats where I am coming from.
Thing is, it's not good
To each their own!
Demon Slayer is good, but it is nowhere as near as good as Avatar: the Last Airbender.
DEMON SLAYER TRASH AF GENERIC AND REPETITIVE ASS STORY !!
Ngl this anine stilll aucks
Its so cringe , the character are boring and have one dimensional personalities and the story is just so boring and not paced well and it was a waste of my time
This nachanias are so overrated
