@@girlsnightgirIsnight Honestly not much. Just in most harems it is Sweet Home Alabama to the extreme. Tbh, I don't think many brother sister relationships are explored in anime, most are brother brother or sister sister (all of these being platonic btw), at least from what I've seen. I haven't really seen many compared to some people. It is important to note, however, that it is rather common for a younger sister to have a crush on her older brother. This isn't always the case, but it does show up quite a lot.
@Erza Fanboy I love how people actually think their own opinions are absolute fact and that there isn't something called personal taste. makes me laugh. Anyways, people might see merit in places you don't, and you might see flaws in places where they don't matter to others, because their enjoyment overshadows the flaws. It's all relative. So shut up. I know you're just a troll, but this goes to all those who bring negativity whenever the so-called "generic overrated trash" shounen is praised.
@Erza Fanboy I am dissapointed that an anime I had once loved has fans this absolutely disgustingly stupid, if you think kimetsu no yaiba is a shitty series than why stay here and fck yourself up with angry 11 year olds like me and fck off yourself you immature, self-centered baby
Yup it's this blind faith and irrational good morality that other MCs have that put me off shows. Stopped watching "That time I got reincarnated as a slime" because of it.
@@radmouse2936 No I just watched it to episode 17-18 of the anime and decided it was enough. I'm not gonna read miles ahead in the LN for some change. That doesn't make the show any better currently does it? Still poor MC writing imo.
The Anime is so good that the author of the Manga actually cried into tears of joy herself in how well received her series is, especially in episode 19.
TheMightySwooj Wow really, what a icon. Sorry about the misconception. I only know bits about her from the before word in the manga. It was rude of me to assume she was a boy. 😓
@@one-one-three-eight I think he thought or wanted the author to drag that into a whole arc of its own. I'd like that too, as it would lengthen the story, and I believe it(the manga at least) is at its final arc. The fact that Tanjiro literally had his whole family slain by demons and yet still is able to put out a smile show kindness and love to everything around him is tragic yet moving.

@@Bruh_but_why not really though The fight did not do nothing to Rui he took alot of damage but that's not the important thing it showed the gap of the Mc and showed despite his strength and skills being already amazing it was still not enough to fight against the demons of the lower classes

@@animateit8452 But how the hell did tanjiro know about god breathing? We can assume tanjiro's father knew about it, but we never see taniro actually training with god breathing. And even if he did, why did he learn water breathing if he can already use god breathing? Also, while we're on the topic, explain nezuko's asspull Its been shown that nezuko can get smaller to fit in her box, and we never see any other demons do the size manipulation, so we can assume it's her blood art, yet, she has her "exploding blood". So, she just has two abilities, because main cast privileges. Finally, my original point was that a meaningless fight had such quality production, what with the music and the two new abilities (Asspulls). But I sorta solved my own answer while writing this, so oopsies.
Zenitsu is not a pervert. He is just thirsty and believes he will die young so he must marry young. A pervert would try to grope girls, not propose marriage at random.
The series has almost no fillers. And when we get to see the characters in " breaking time" they actually keep training, see interacting with each other and such. In short, no chapter wastes time in the progression of the plot.
The main theme of Demon Slayer, despite its title, is love. Love for your family, love for your friends, and how far you'll go for them no matter what. Tanjiro is the most human shounen protagonist I've seen in a long time; someone who wants to save his sister, who despite everything he's went through, only wants to stop others from suffering. He's willing to take all their pain, all their sorrow, and tries to replace it with peace, even if it is in their dying moments. Because he knows what it means to suffer agonizing pain at the loss of his family, he doesn't want anyone else to feel that suffering if he can help it. He wants to spread kindness and love, rather than hatred, and only strikes out in the name of justice for those that have suffered. What a beautiful message to send to the young, and also older, audiences that read Shounen Jump today.
To me, it's all about listening to the other's side of the story, understanding them. There's a reason why there are such ppl, it's because life was cruel to them and turned them into what they are. It shows how life's cruelties can manipulate a person into a monster, and this is brilliantly methaporized with the demons in the show.
to me i think it’s more of an understanding of what other people went through, and how not everyone is “born” evil. that’s why we see so many GOD DAMN backstories of random ass people, because then we learn and emphasize with those that we know the feelings of. thru the kindness of tanjiro, it allows us to genuinely know what these people went through and the hardships in doing so, it doesn’t necessarily justify their actions but perhaps offers an explanation. it’s like the lesson where you can’t judge anyone based on their appearance, they have a deeper meaning
@@Bruh_but_why I mean, beautiful is different than hot or sexy. If someone called your mom ugly as fuck I would imagine it would annoy you at least a little?

what i love the most is that every battle he wins, it doesn’t actually feel like a victory. there’s always some quiet sadness to it, and i always find myself wondering if there was any way to spare the demons he kills. even the most horrible demons still have sad pasts that make me empathise with them all the more. it’s brilliantly written
I love how he doesn't celebrate after killing a demon. We may say yes, but in Tanjiro's POV, no matter how evil they were, he didn't glorify their deaths. He just feels bad. He gives off that "I'm sorry" kinda look.
@@T_E_G Tanjiro is pretty much the embodiment of the quote "a true soldier fights, not because he hates what's in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him"
I don't agree with the "brilliantly written" part Yes a lot of the demons had sad pasts but we learn about them at the last seconds before they are being killed, making it feel more like a cheep way to make you feel bad rather then writing it well in a way it makes any form of lasting impact. Like this demon just killed a lot of people for fun and is about to get killed, but "oh no he was a poor child and had a loving mother who died, it excuses now everything" Sure for some of them it works but for some like Rui it doesn't imo
So we just gonna ignore the plot twist that happened after the mountain training arc when Tanjiro is leaving for the final selection and asks Irokodaki (sorry if I misspelled that) to say goodbye to the kids who helped him cut that huge boulder then Irokodaki says "Tanjiro... how do you know the names of those dead children?"
I mean, it wasn't that surprising, was it? They appeared and disappeared at random. I would have been surprised if they _hadn't_ been dead. However, it does bring up the question of how much impact dead people have on the events of the story. There are several times where Tanjiro or Nezuko get mental assistance from their family, for instance.
IKR! Like for me it was not unexpected per se, but like... is it gonna be mentioned again? Or is it just like, Tanjirou: "Oh yeah, by the way, I saw dead people that one time" Everyone: "Weird flex but ok"

I feel like a lot of Tanjiro is summed up in that moment when he sees the mother of the spider clan giving up and changes his sword grip to change his attack to be more gentle. It was just so sad, but showed how beautiful his heart is. Also, I know you didn't cover this, (also we will no doubt learn more about her, so this is my impression only at this point in time) but can I just say that seeing Tanjiro's genuine empathy and then being confronted with Shinobu Kocho (the butterfly swordsman) and her twisted, sickly sweet sympathy is startling. She freaks me out more than any of the demons because she has power and she is cruel but she believes that she is in the right and is unyielding in her belief in doing what she sees as right. Tanjiro sees that demon doesn't mean monster and judges their actions and even then isn't cruel in killing them. Her fake sympathy is more hateful then those who treat the demons they kill as nothing but things to exterminate because at least they don't pretend to be feel for demons when they don't.
I thought the same about Shinobu. Something about her creeped me out, but I also appreciated that she was strong in the nontraditional way. My opinion changed a bit in the next few episodes. Keep watching. :D
Butterfly lady was still interesting in the sense that even though she hates demons, she still honored her sister's wishes and offered sympathy to spider girl
her introduction makes it easy to hate on her (she almost kills nezuko after all), but in the following episodes she is one of the only Hashiras to accept Nezuko and Tanjiro, she heals the boisss and give them training and good advices. She is absolutely lovely in her own way, even if she is kinda heartless when dealing with onis. [manga spoiler ahead, don't read if you don't want spilers on the happenings on the last fights] She also stops being hatefull with onis to work with the good ones in order to defeat Muzan. Her poison is one of the main reasons they manage to defeat Muzan the 2nd Moon. She is one my favorite characters by far

A lot of content creators coordinate releases on topics because RUclips's algorithm favors it. If they all release similar topics at the same time, the algorithm see's the same topic gaining steam and then recommends all of these same videos to users watching them. If they release content on different subjects, the topics compete against each other which does not have the same positive effect on view counts for everyone. It's an unfortunate side effect of the RUclips algorithm. I'm not saying this is definitely what happened here, could be coincidence because of Demon Slayer's current popularity, but the situation I laid out, happens a lot on RUclips across all genres.
I'm so glad you highlighted Tanjiro's empathy as the primary factor that makes this show great. In other videos I've seen from other channels, they always praise the animation and design as the biggest thing and seem to imply that Tanjiro's empathy and the theme of love which permeates through the entire anime as just secondary reasons as to why this show is this good. The main thing I recall about this anime which is also the main reason I like this show so much is exactly Tanjiro's unique quality of empathy that feels so genuine it easily resonates with the audience every single time it comes up, and to see it mentioned by a famous youtube channel gives me a really good feeling. @@tnb4509 I mean, Nezuko is kinda tripped out of her entire mind most of the show- you can’t exactly develop a character when they’re constantly in a child like state. Besides, I somewhat feel the need to turn her back to normal wouldn’t be as prevalent if she kept her entire personality an awareness once she turned. Her being reduced to such a simple-minded state makes it more urgent, or sad. Like you still have the person you love most, but they simply aren’t the same. One brick short of a house. If she was completely normal, but demon flavored, her turning wouldn’t feel as upsetting. I mean, this entire comparison reminds me of something my mother had to deal with- her mother had a some sort of brain disease, which eventually overflowed an ended up destroying her brain. My mom and her siblings were given the option of keeping her mother alive at the cost of her being a vegetable, or letting her die. It’s somewhat like that. Nezuko, in exchange for her life and the ability to survive without eating humans, was forced to live as a monster with barely there awareness. That’s kinda why I enjoy it, honestly. I feel kind of bad since people around me tell me that I’m watching something boring if I’m watching Demon Slayer. Most say that it has a generic plot or originality, and that all it has going is it’s animation or characters. I want to defend by saying that the characters are different and original, with a whole world/universe that’s originally created. Even though the plot can be very cliché, it’s okay because it mixes well with the existing characters. I remember someone saying that they didn’t like Demon because it was the same as all the other shonen anime out there, but I feel like they’re just kind of hating so they can hate. I wish they would take into account how almost everything has cliches in it, no matter how original other stuff may be. Yeah, it’s kinda the same plot as other shounen anime’s, but it isn’t trash as they say it to be. As I said, it just works super well with everything else and it evens it out. I just wanted someone to tell me that it was okay to watch something like and not be told that my taste is bad. :’(
Demon Slayer is not boring. It may have a genetic plot flow, but the focus of the show was more on the "family love", rather than pursuing dreams or cliché tropes of friendship. It's actually quite nice as I don't usually see the this theme in shounen. Besides, the show is boring? Generic plot flow doesn't mean it's a boring anime. Having a unique plot line doesn't make the anime interesting either. Lots of them backfired. This show has good animation, proper introduction to characters even though it's repetitive, good music and intro, enjoyable theme.... And I don't think that qualifies as "boring". It is not a masterpiece, but it's entertaining to watch, to be honest. Those who argue that one's opinion is bad are probably the biggest hypocrites, because they couldn't handle a goddamn opinion.

Another thing that separates Demon Slayer from other shonen anime is that it actually feels like anyone can die. When I first saw Demon Slayer on Netflix I immediately said “I’ll watch the shot out of that”, two days later and I finished it and made it’s money shot my profile picture on every platform. That just says how much I love it.
Demon Slayer is SO DAMN BEAUTIFUL! Tanjiro was written so well as a character. He doesn't annoy me at all, in fact I enjoy the moments with him and Nezuko than pretty much anything else. Tanjiro is too sweet for the anime world he's in. Zenitsu is beyond annoying.
Donnie Burgess There are a lot of dark fantasy anime series that aired this year: Demon Slayer, Promised Neverland, Shield Hero and Attack on Titan S3 Part 2.
There's so much I love about this show and I'm glad I watched it before I had long to wait before the second season. Tanjiro's empathy not being a weakness or merely an informed character trait, but actually crucial to his personality. That he offers comfort to the enemies he kills, but he doesn't let empathy stop him from necessary fights. The bond between a brother and sister which is a balm to my betrayed feelings surrounding Mikasa and Eren (I related so much to her as someone who would also go absolutely feral for my brother and family only for it to be revealed as romantic and Eren to be an abusive bastard.) The quieter theme of strength being something you define for yourself, not something measured against others. Zenitsu would in other anime be considered a poor student for disobeying his teacher, for being weak and cowardly. Or else he would magically overcome everything through pure hard work (like Rock Lee) but instead the series seems to take the view that there's no such thing as a bad student, that it's actually the responsibility of the teacher to find a way to reach them. The students aren't meant to magically figure it out, they have to be given the right guidance before their persistance amounts to anything, otherwise they just persist in the wrong direction. It's so *rare* for anime. There is some weakness in the central trio not really bonding much so far as they often fight separately, but I imagine that will improve later.

I'm sure that most shone talk a ton about the power of friendship.
I was curious aboout what the show was about but just had the title as clue.
Now you have convinced me to watch it :)
To me, it's all about listening to the other's side of the story, understanding them. There's a reason why there are such ppl, it's because life was cruel to them and turned them into what they are. It shows how life's cruelties can manipulate a person into a monster, and this is brilliantly methaporized with the demons in the show.
Reading that reminded me a bit of Ed and Al from FMA(B) which is, frankly, one of the best compliments I could give a show.
to me i think it’s more of an understanding of what other people went through, and how not everyone is “born” evil. that’s why we see so many GOD DAMN backstories of random ass people, because then we learn and emphasize with those that we know the feelings of. thru the kindness of tanjiro, it allows us to genuinely know what these people went through and the hardships in doing so, it doesn’t necessarily justify their actions but perhaps offers an explanation. it’s like the lesson where you can’t judge anyone based on their appearance, they have a deeper meaning
Not to mention they have a god tier imoto (who deserves all the protection) that DOES NOT have an incest relationship with her brother.
No matter what all that fanart says...
That's what I love the most.
There's no single incestual joke in there, it's always family love in there.

what i love the most is that every battle he wins, it doesn’t actually feel like a victory. there’s always some quiet sadness to it, and i always find myself wondering if there was any way to spare the demons he kills. even the most horrible demons still have sad pasts that make me empathise with them all the more. it’s brilliantly written
I love how he doesn't celebrate after killing a demon. We may say yes, but in Tanjiro's POV, no matter how evil they were, he didn't glorify their deaths. He just feels bad. He gives off that "I'm sorry" kinda look.

Yeah, he can find empathy and understand they were humans before they became demons. But he knows it’s necessary to kill them
he can literally smell deep, hidden emotions and character traits in people. but instead of not making sense and being annoying it's just really good.

Tanjiro is probably the first Shounen MC, that I know of, who shows empathy towards the enemy without bring childish or immature. And I love that about him.

I've been praising the animation since the start. No only are the action shots incredibly well made with so many angles and rotation in a single sequence, but on top of that the style they use is breathtaking. I'm used to see one or the other, but both at once is insanely rare.

It's ok

It’s great how the elements they use when fighting aren’t actually there. It’s a really nice metaphor that shows how each person cuts their target. Tanjiro’s water breathing is smooth and elegant, Zenitsu’s thunder breathing is fast and powerful, Inosuke’s beast breathing is strong and primal, etc. It’s just a representation of how they strike their blades and it’s really beautiful.

Another thing that separates Demon Slayer from other shonen anime is that it actually feels like anyone can die. Most shonen anime like Naruto, MHA, and Black Clover are exciting, yet I constantly have the feeling that the main characters will all be okay in the end (some have narration which proves they survive). This anime rivals The Promised Neverland in my opinion. What's so great about Demon Slayer?
*Pretty much everything.*
The bond between a brother and sister which is a balm to my betrayed feelings surrounding Mikasa and Eren (I related so much to her as someone who would also go absolutely feral for my brother and family only for it to be revealed as romantic and Eren to be an abusive bastard.)
The quieter theme of strength being something you define for yourself, not something measured against others.
